Oshi No Ko is manga that started serialisation in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump in Late April 2020 and is written by Aka Akasaka most famously known as the mangaka and artist of Kaguya Sama: Love is War who is killing it by masterfully writing BOTH manga weekly with the exception of not doing the art of this manga as its drawn by Mengo Yokoyari known for Scum's Wish who brings to the table some of the best, unique and attractive character designs and I've ever seen.

At first glance you may write off this series as ... a generic idol manga but it would be a massive understatement to say your assumption could not be more wrong. when I went to read it I was expecting a wholesome story when instead was thrown into a psychological horror drama mystery (is this even a genre lol) that gets dark real quick that left me speechless, mind blown and upset/depressed countless times in a SINGLE volume. Yeah.

Oshi No Ko is a series that is a complete representation of the times we live in, honestly I was shocked at how perfectly Aka sensei was able to perfectly capture the progressiveness of our current society in terms of celebrities, influencers, actors/actresses whatever you can name in that spectrum of entertainment and masterfully unravel the dark secrets that go on behind the scenes and be so in tune with the views, interests and values of our youth. Its something you would never expect to come out of a manga of all things an yet is still an enjoyable piece of fiction with things like reincarnation thrown in.

I genuinely don't believe I can do this series justice speaking on whats it about and why I think its a masterpiece, without people actually reading it for themselves. The various characterisation, plot twists and with arguably the best 1st chapter I've read this manga is a mind fu** and a rollercoaster of emotions.

On top of the of all this I myself have only read 1 volume (10 chapters) rn as I just can't read it unofficial despite the fan translations being readable THATS how good it is. On my knees praying a licensor picks it up very soon cause I don't know if I can keep strong.

Easiest 10/10 I've given so fast ever.

The Hunters Guild: Red Hood by Yuki Kawaguchi serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump is a story brimming with potential as it tackles and excellently incorporates various folk lore in a beautiful Shonen fashion.

Right now the pacing of the manga is perfect, characters are being introduced and developed at a steady and enjoyable rate as well as each chapter being packed with lore and world building. Each chapter your left immersed in the beauty of the world created by Kawaguchi brought to life by his distinct yet familiar art style from his days as an assistant to Kohei Hirokoshi for My Hero Academia.

I've been reading since ... chapter 1 and I have to say every week I'm left anticipating whats next the various foreshadowing of the future has me excited with chapter No. 7's plot twist piquing my interest ever more.

Things can 100% change, but for now I have Red Hood at an overall 8/10.
