Hello to the person reading this, my thoughts on Clannad will be my first review and since English is not my native language i'm already sorry for the lack of grammatically correct sentences.
(Minor Spoilers)
Clannad, the acclaimed series by a big portion of the anime community, is Amazing in a lot of ways but also hateful in a lot of ways. The first episodes were astonishing, you meet a lot of characters in the beginning of the show, you relate to Tomoya and you can see how all the characters are different. When you finally get into the "routes" of the characters, especially Fuuko and Kotomi,
...
the story just pushed me away from enjoyment. Never the less, the rest is really great and written very well.
The Characters of Clannad are mostly annoying or rather disappointing. The main character is perfectly written, same goes for Sunohara, Tomoyo or any character that behaves properly or realistically(Sanae, Akio,...) . The show manages to mix realism and typical anime style of acting for those characters but the rest of the characters drive me insane !.
Fuuko is suppose to be in 10 grade in the show, she behaves like she's in 6 grade (i can forgive that because she is a spirit or a "ghost"), the only good thing about her is her story arc. However, Kotomi's behavior is quite logical, she hasn't socialized for years but her story arc is unrealistic as f (how can you left a 6 years old child alone in an empty house for her birthday while you're GONE "UNREALISTIC"). That story drove me insane, that was the moment that really pushed me away from enjoyment. Ryou is minor to the whole
plot (i liked that) but man, she cries and is scared for no reason. Nagisa acts like an ignorant girl (may i remind you that she's supposed to be in college writing essays).
My point is that the story lacks of realism for most characters and their stories. The childish act pushed me away from being emotionally attached to them. They are is HIGHSCHOOL, they behave like they were in middle school. With theses elements I lost my belief in the story.
I guess, it's because I can't stand a world with lolis, late teenagers that are mentally 5 years old.
The character design is unique, refreshing and coherent. I loved the shapes of the eyes, they feel full of life but because they are tilted you can guess the sadness on the face.
The music didn't stun me, wasn't bad but not excellent. Although i must say that the ending theme was charming.
What's really surprising is how the show manages to keep this aura of visual novel while being paced extremely well (a counter exemple would be the original fate stay/night)
I am not going to conclude my thoughts on this anime but i'm already sorry for my way of writing (rest assured that I speak english much better). Thank you for reading my review. :)
