I actually enjoy watching detective series like conan and so on. So I thought I may give Gosick a try.
After two episodes I thought "Well... it's okay, but I don't like it that much" and that's why I made a break. After month and finally a complete season I gave it another try and completed the anime in one 'rush'.
I wrote this review nearly after I watched the last episode, so I want to give you my impression of the anime.
Story 7/10
The story begins pretty easy, there is a mysterious girl in a library(-tower) and a common boy who is going to be interested in
...
her. That's something you can already read in the summary. Well the story is somehow weird and good. I mean the cases they have in different episodes are very good explained and really enjoyfull, but after the 2nd half of the anime everything went somehow apart. The overall story changed a lot then and I got more and more the impression of watching 'Spirited Away'.
Art 8/10
I enjoyed the artwork of Gosick a lot. I usually take a sharp look at this point, especially because I'm an artist myself. The animation was very soft and the characters were pretty detailed and full of ideas. Especially the background scenes were awesome, I like them a lot.
Sound 8/10
The music and sound was really good. Especially the original japanese voice actors did a great job here. If someone is crying then it sounds like he/she really does. And the orchestra music was just awesome, I enjoyed the movie like music in a lot scenes. I just thought they should take the ending song for the theme song, was a lot better.
Character: 6/10
You may wonder why I choosed six points if I just wrote that the characters have much detail and so on. Well actually only the main (female) character is memorizable (Well okay the blond haired policeman too). If I rethink about this anime in half a year I will probably forget them all except the mentioned main character. The others are just to bold and not that special. Even the main (male) character does nothing than being a slave and crying her name thousand of times. Nothing special if you ask me. But at least the anime has a lot characters you can hear the stories from, which makes it very interesting.
Enjoyment: 7/10
I enjoyed a lot of the anime, but also disliked some stuff. I can't say to much here, because I would spoil a lot. The interesting thing is, I watched the anime because I was interested in the detective stuff, but even after this changed I stayed addicted, which means I enjoyed more than I disliked.
Overall: 7/10
If I could seperate the anime I would give it for the first half 9/10 and the second half 5/10. The anime was a good one, but changed to fast in the middle. It went (maybe to fast) from the interesting mysterious girl-detective to historical affairs and so on, don't want to spoil here.
Even if many people prey for a 2nd season, I'll hope that it ends with this. The ending was a good one with some facts I dislike, but at least it is good. A 2nd season would ruin everything in my opinion.
I just can say after writing this review that you should give it a try, it may be one of your favourites or it won't. Even if it won't, you will not waste your time and get a big story with some laughts here and there.
Cheers
(Sorry for my crappy english)
