Ame no Furu is a manga with an interesting concept yet fails to support said concept to its fullest extent. It was ended early, but still maintained a satisfying, albeit rushed, ending.
Story: 7/10
The story is fine. The overarching plot of the manga was clearly layed out and there weren't too many side stories to take away from it. It's only a 7, though, because the story relied very heavily on the gimmick without really building the world enough.
Art: 6/10
The art is passable, but not great. It gets the job done but doesn't do anything to shock or inspire the reader.
Character: 7/10
I liked how most of
...
the characters in the manga had a type of serious comedy. Even the villains still had morals to some extent and they weren't too one dimensional. I think the characters would have been more enjoyable if they had more comedic moments.
Enjoyment: 7/10
I enjoyed this manga. It wasn't the best, but it was an entertaining read every Sunday.
Overall: 7/10
The manga had its ups and downs, but it was mostly ups. I looked forward to reading it every Sunday, but at least it had a conclusive and relatively satisfying ending.

I had no expectations for Blue Flag, yet within the first chapter I was hooked. I could see where the story was going, and I painfully anticipated what might happen.
Story: 8/10
If there is one place this manga struggled in, its the story. Don't get me wrong, the story was great, but it had a few issues. I felt like the climactic moments just didn't quite have the oomph that they could have. Maybe it was the context of those situations and the suddenness of them. I personally didn't mind the ending, but I can see it being flawed for sure: I just liked it
...
anyway.
Art: 9/10
The art is great. There are few, if any, flaws in the style and it did a great job of portraying emotion on the characters and provide comic relief when needed.
Character: 9/10
Almost all the characters have some level of depth once explored in the manga. I think some side characters, could have done with more explanation and context, but overall each character is not one sided.
Enjoyment: 10/10
I enjoyed this manga thoroughly. Maybe its because I'm gay and could resonate with the topics at hand, but I couldn't stop reading the story.
Overall: 9/10
This is definitely one of (if not the best) romance in Shounen Jump's catalogue.

Solanin follows the story of a couple in their early twenties figuring out how to exist in society while enjoying themselves. A quote that stuck with me is, within the first quarter of the manga, Meiko quits her job but soon discovers that "freedom without any purpose feels a whole lot like boredom." She doesn't want to force herself to work, so her boyfriend is forced to fund their living alone. Her decision sets off a chain of events that lead to them both questioning what they are doing and why.
Story: 9/10
The story was great. Perhaps since I'm in my early twenties, it felt very
...
relatable. As an Asano manga, it is a pretty tragic story, but I found it a lot more hopeful that his other works.
Art: 9/10
Asano has this way of drawing characters' expressions that allows for so many comedic moments while not taking away from the seriousness and the underlying melancholy of the story. Not to mention the occasional photos of the real world that add even more depth to each page.
Characters: 10/10
Asano paints a realistic and disturbed image of young adults trying to figure out their place in the world. Each character conveys some new perspective and shows a different way each of them have decided to live out their life. Meiko and Taneda in particular have to juggle their relationship, expectations, and monetary well being whilst not sacrificing their own happiness.
Enjoyment: 9/10
I enjoyed this manga. It felt justified in its more hopeful ending, and there really weren't any loose ends that I noticed. I know I'll have to come back and reread it again.
Overall: 9/10
Solanin is a story that can appeal to everyone, but I think if your like me, in your early twenties with no clear passions or goals, this manga will be worth your time (and tears).

To start with, I didn't have high expectations of Dr. Stone when I started it. I was just looking for something to read on the Shonen Jump app, and it seemed like a good start. And then I caught up in 4 days.
Story: 9/10
The story was interesting, in that Senku and cast have to come up with and create different scientific creations to overcome different obstacles they face. I found the variety of obstacles entertaining and the processes by which they are overcome to be pretty unpredictable. I also loved the scale of the story itself; how it all starts at the bottom and quickly
...
hurdles to the level of modern science.
Art: 7/10
I found the art good. It did its job and I really enjoyed the comedic expression of characters at times.
Character: 6/10
In the first half of Dr. Stone, I thought the characters were really weak, with only a few that stood out. After the first half, tons of interesting characters were being introduced at a quick pace. The issue is, as new characters are being introduced the old ones are no longer able to be focused on. This isn't a massive problem until later in the story, when the cast ensemble is so large that some characters are basically forgotten.
Enjoyment: 10/10
I really enjoyed Dr. Stone. The story was fast paced enough for me to not feel bored, yet slow enough for me to become attached to characters and anticipate what was happening next. I tend to love resource collection and creation based stories, so this story definitely fit my taste.
Overall: 8/10
A super solid manga that's getting more exciting by the chapter.

This manga is spectacular.
Story: 10/10
The story is definitely not predictable and, in my opinion, avoids many of the clichés that are common in darker manga. The story mostly follows the main character, Punpun Onodera, as he comes to terms with his past trauma and his inability to escape his past. There are also a few side stories that I found just as interesting as the main plot line. The story had enough consistency to keep it grounded, while containing enough twists and turns to keep it very exciting.
Art: 10/10
The art is amazing. From the transformative nature of the main character to the celestial backdrop
...
of the characters' tragedy, I found myself marveling at various panels throughout the manga. I also loved the real and over exaggerated nature of all the normal human characters within the manga. Asano has a way of conveying some aspect of the character through their very image and design.
Character: 10/10
Each character within Goodnight Punpun has a different flaw or past they must come to terms with. Whether they fail or succeed is up to them. I found myself being connected to each and every character within the manga--all of their motives feel real. I can put myself in their shoes and draw upon my own past experiences to understand their actions within the story. Each character also goes through different arcs and emotional journeys, mirroring the real world in yet another way. The characters within Goodnight PunPun truly portray the darkness that can exist in the real world.
Enjoyment: 10/10
I truly loved this manga. Every moment I read it, I felt some sort of connection, however minor, with each character's struggle. Asano has a way with creating characters that are realistic enough to relate to, yet fictional enough to beget an extremely enjoyable and though provoking story.
Goodnight Punpun is the harrowing tale of a young boy growing up burdened by his past. I would completely recommend it (although prepare for a dark and tragic story).
