Most of the movie looked like nothing more than just a guy contemplating himself between trying to sympathize with the terrorist girl he didn't kill and still trying to staying in a special force that he does not have the right mentality to be in if this a more modern society given how indecisive he is. Yet people kept claiming that he's a 'beast', and then come the 'twist'.
The main motif of the story is about trying to tell us that of the red riding hood.

The ova have beautiful and fluidly detailed animation you would not expect from a 20 plus mins short ova episode. The fights are cool and exciting to watch. Clearly showing the producers had made the most and the best out of the short episode. And also clearly it's down fall is that it lack enough story development for the short episode itself.
Story: 7 There isn't much story in it, as the episode is quite short, it mainly focus on the powers of Juri and her ability overwhelm others with her new combat weapon the evil eye. If anyone who likes to watch female villain who ... can take hits and overwhelm, I would recommend this episode. At least this episode is a great way to new viewers interested in it's other series and franchise. Art: 9 The art is very detailed and beautifully drawn, and cool to watch, it allows one to understand the effort the animators put into animating the episode. Sound/Music: 8 Good and exciting to listen Character: 8 The story revolves mainly about the female villain Juri, A Korean who had overwhelming martial art skills supported by her evil eye that can overwhelm the three other protagonists Cammy, Chun-Li and Guile. There isn't much development in other characters itself nor was there an intention or a need to since it is an ova. So for people who does not know about the characters, they can just take them as three other soldiers fighting the female villains, as that seems to be the point for it, as they are mainly involved in the story as an opponent for Juri the main villain for this episode. Enjoyment: 9 Aside, from enjoying how detailed and well animated the animation is, I find the battles exciting, the battle is fluid with great execution, flow, sequence and pacing, Something I would not expect to enjoy from a short episode. But I did enjoy the most out of it. Overall: 8

I wrote this review for the novel after watching the episode 13 and also finished reading all the volumes of overlord that had been released so far, which is till volume 9. So I have at least quite an understanding of the story so far. But I would not put any spoilers in the review and just general info that people can see from the novel's synopsis description.
But before I write my review, there is this one glaring point of the series's story setting that a lot of people seemed to be confused about lately that I have to point out. Many people tend to ... be confused that the main character has been stuck in the game world he is playing in but the truth is that it is Experimented and Proven many times that he is instead Transported into a new fantasy Reality world where Yggdrasil players either don't exist or uncommon to the point of being called legends that only exist hundred of years ago. The only thing he is "stuck" in is his skeleton game body when he was transported from his game virtual world to another fantasy reality world. Also another thing, he is not a kid or a teenager, but instead is a blue collar salesman. So after clearing that up, let's start my review of the novel. I advise people to rate my review fairly with open mindedness and after proper understanding of the series and not base on personal reasons, rashness or eccentric personal bias which seems to be quite common lately... Story: 9 The novel's story is quite dark, evil, brutal and despairing at times and the novel's story is quite detailed and exciting to read which draws in the reader's curiosity and interest in knowing more of the story, but sometimes it may be quite tedious to read the highly detailed descriptions and multiple dialogues of the story. But people who are interested more on how the story is developed would find this interesting. Some people who lacked the attention span, patience or the interest in the story and wanted more actions and excitements immediately may find the novel's start to be boring. But people who actually wanted to enjoy the story's world and development would find that it's story is quite interesting, attention to details and descriptive with points of the story from different perspective. Many people who started reading and enjoyed the novel are there for the literature story in the first place. Some people may find the story to be developing quite slowly at times due the story development but it comes with a lot of important plot points which might have otherwise caused confusions to the readers if some info points was lacking and skipped just to make the story faster. Art: 9 The art quality is very good, as many people had said before that the novel's are quite well done but this is something left for people's personal taste and interests... But speaking it in general, the art is very detailed, beautiful. But all in all, it is something that is well done. Character: 9 One of the main protagonist that you will never expect to see a lot in story even till now. A skeleton as a main character with a blue collar working salesman's mentality behind it. The person is very logical, emotionless but interestingly funny at times, who does the most realistic and logical reactions and actions people should expect if they are transported into another world. Keeping up his act as an overlord outside but whining and shouting inside about tiring things and situations. He also never consider his powers to be overpowered since the his skills are known in games and always think that there is someone such as players stronger than him out there. The introductions of the many other side characters were also very unique and interesting too. They all have their own detailed designs, personalities, settings and developments. Sadly the only thing lacking in this novel is a strong enemy character that the main characters have to face and overcome... But it is actually fine, since story wise, the story is actually still interesting and mainly draws the viewers to be more interested on how the process the MC used took over the places or even the world, the perspective and reactions of different people in the story which you normally won't see in other stories at times, and also main point of the story that is expected of how the strong overlord crush the enemy in the end after the intended development for it along with the expectations and despair which all together makes it something even more interesting and refreshing to see too, just like picking the fruits after it is ripe for the taking. Also it seems there are people rating down the series due to the mc not having an usable underpart? Well, he can actually do it if he wants to and afterall, it's also better for the mc to think logically than thinking using his lower body like some other pervert mcs which are annoying. Besides, it seems pointless for some people to even point this out to talk down a good series. Enjoyment: 10 Well the novel may not be a master piece for some people. But it story is a great literature that is the most descriptive, well developed, highly rated and one of the higher quality light novel out there that is highly encouraged by many people to read it to understand their world even more. That is the novel's purpose, as there are many people who enjoyed the novel are there for the literature story in the first place. Also, there are points which mainly show how different it is from some more commonly known similar series stories settings. Firstly, unlike the typical hero fantasy stories that are a dime of dozen out there already with almost Similar and Familiar stories and settings. Of course a story from a villain's perspective would perk people's interest than the typical power from friendship troupes, where you always would expect a certain people to survive in the end or just simply no one dying at all. With many things that are being quite common these days, this actually make this novel more unique and stands out. Secondly, in this world where pretty much everything was cliche, a different, darker virtual gaming world to another world story is actually more new and interesting to people comparing to the typical virtual game or reality to fantasy stories that are quite common out there like no game no life, log horizon, SAO, problem children, etc with similar familiar overlapping fantasy settings or even other different typical stories with a shiny hero or a dense innocent kind mcs, instead a setting different from the typical familiar ones would be fresher one to see. Finally, if people Do want to immense themselves in settings, atmosphere, plots and details of the story other than just immediate mindless action stories that are dozens out there, they would definitely welcome this novel. Given how much of a potential this novel's story have, even till the latest volume I had read so far. Overall: 9 Overall, the novel is quite an interesting and addicting read for a story, if the further story's volume continues to be just as interesting to read, it will still easily continued to be rated 9 by me.

I advise people to rate my review fairly with open mindedness and after proper understanding of the anime and not base on personal reasons, rashness or eccentric personal bias which seems to be quite common lately... Story: 9 The anime's story followed the novel's story tightly so far, skipping only the unnecessary dialogues. Some people who lacked the attention span, patience or the interest in the story and wanted more actions and excitements immediately may find this anime's start to be boring. But people who actually wanted to enjoy the story's world and development would find that this anime's story is quite interesting, attention to details and descriptive with points of the story from different perspective. Many people who started reading and enjoyed the novel are there for the literature story in the first place. Sadly, the anime can't be too descriptive about the story But the producers did not sacrifice it to lower the story's quality, just to satisfy certain viewers. Which is a plus for an anime with good story and action. Some people may find it slow at times due the story development but the anime managed to at least squeezed in all the important plot points in the anime without skipping it, which might have otherwise caused confusions to the viewers if some info points was lacking and skipped just to make the anime faster. Which Madhouse actually learnt their lesson after being bashed by people about their rushed production on Mahou Sensou and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. Also, a lot of the minor details in the anime's story was left out so it may not be as detailed as the novel. But, since the anime was made to advertise the novel in the first place, therefore if the people want more details about it, they have to read it from the novel. If the anime is just as detailed as the novel, that will defeat the purpose of making it in the first place. Art: 8 The art quality is very good, though as many people had said before that the novel's art may have been better but this is something left for people's personal taste and interests... But speaking it in general, the art is very detailed, beautiful and did not get ruined by censors for now, it may follow similar art styles to the manga at times. But all in all, it is something that is well done. Also, there won't be too much awkward fan service either given that the main protagonist is an undead skeleton. Sound/Music: 8 The opening song is epic, the background musics were fitting for many situations in the anime, especially the action scene musics that fits and adds to the mood and atmosphere greatly. The only thing I wished more of, was for producers to make better use of the ending credit song instead of focusing the good song on just Albedo... Just saying it. But here's the point, the anime is popular not because it is a master piece but because there are many other reasons for it. Firstly, unlike the typical hero fantasy animes that are a dime of dozen out there already with almost Similar and Familiar stories and settings. Of course an anime from a villain's perspective would perk people's interest than the typical power from friendship troupes, where you always would expect a certain people to survive in the end or just simply no one dying at all. Thirdly, It is one of the animes that do not fill the screen with censors which is very unpopular these days and certainly some parts of the anime's story and action may be rated to be more exciting than some long going animes out there. (not my opinion though) Finally, if people Do want to immense themselves in settings, atmosphere, plots and details of the story other than just immediate mindless action animes that are dozens out there, they would definitely welcome this anime or even the novel. Given how much of a potential this anime's story have, even till the latest volume I had read so far. I actually personally think that the pacing of the anime is normal or even quite fast looking at the anime's situation itself. Overall: 9 Overall, as long as the anime is kept to the story without changing from now on which the producers are still doing without rushing or skipping important parts, it will still easily continued to be rated 9 by me.

One of the few animes recently from Japan that can still have a decent show with a good story now of days. It is a good movie with a good story and one of the better quality animations as compared to other sci fic story animations and 3D animations.
Just like many other reviews, it might contain spoilers and opinions about the movie after having watched it therefore this review is more suitable for people who had watched the movie or wanted to be spoilt. I would not talk too much about it's story summaries since it might had been said a lot of times ... by other people in other reviews, so I will just try to keep it simple. Also, I would not make comparison to Gen Urobuchi's other works and just review on the movie itself. Generally the movie's idea and philosophy is about a robot AI becoming more human and humans becoming more robotic and more technologically dependant. It's also about alternate version world where people don't space travel and instead form a virtual world to live in it without their bodies, solving a lot of problems such as overpopulation and finite resources but depends heavily on their technology. Art: 9 It is one of the few more successful 3D animations that would actually attract people with just the visuals. It is really nice to look at with advance and beautiful artstyle that seem more 2Dish just like watching a typical anime yet 3D but is not reality realistic looking, other similar animations show I can think of with similar features would be the animation karen senki, the walking dead game, rwby and maybe a bit similar to the movie appleseed ex machina, but be reminded that I am not a professional 3DCG animator so I am just comparing it through visual similarities. Also just like many other animes that are similar in animation yet different in story, it is best not to judge a show's story on how it is animated. Sound, music: 8 Really good, quite exciting variety range of background music and the characters also get to sing too. The post credit song is also nice to listen too. Characters: 8 The character designs are beautiful and cute too, there would be times where you would not take your eyes off of Angela. The other characters' design was simple yet have very distinctive features for them that you would definitely not forget or confuse with other characters in other animes. The friendly robot AI Frontier Setter is one of my more favourite characters among the cast, it's cheerful, cute and friendly personality would make you wish that he was your friend. Other characters such as Dingo is more mature, humble, smart and perspective while Angela is more prideful, whiny, bratty but hardworking, self restraint and also more mature as compared to typical tsun girls. Aside that the characters did not have a well defined background story to develop for the viewers to know more about them, the characters themselves are actually quite developed that can give the viewers an understanding of what characters and personality they are. P.S. Also, how is Dingo a poor mannered and tolerance guy? It's funny that Angela called him that way, that guy is actually quite friendly, helpful and tolerating towards that egoistic girl. One of the few typical female personality trend seen in animes, but not too much in this movie. Story: 8 Nice anime and interesting story plot overall that left us with things to think about, it is generally not a boring show to watch and is quite casual at times and eventhough it's ending is not bad but I just hoped that it can be better. Some story plot flaws and questions I thought about the movie after watching it, food for thought for people who had Watched the movie. Such as couldn't frontier setter just take their DNA or something? I mean they already have cloning technology and also if he is an AI program why couldn't he copied himself then? That means that by doing so he can both stayed behind while also goes to space too. Also, can't he also asked for opinions from people on earth or people that have been archived? And even if a normal person wants to join the operation, how can he join it? Would it be very troublesome and dangerous too? If so it is not smart to ask the public to join if there is no proper way for the public to come anyway. Also they keep saying that they have unlimited potential, yet in the end, the truth is that they are still limited by their memories and processing powers. Enjoyment: 9 One of the few animes that have similar vibes to watching animes like cowboy bebop, Suisei no Gargantia or even sci fic movies like appleseed, wonderful days. I actually enjoyed watching the movie all the way, every talk they had is an idea, a development and insight to it's world and story. Not a single moment is wasted. Overall: 9 It is still an exciting, interesting and pleasing movie to watch in overall with a great story afterthought that I would recommend to other people.
