IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED DON'T READ THIS REVIEW.
Like many of you probably I started watching this anime because of the very high score.
And this is one of the few anime I can't understand why it has such an high score because it has some very big cons IMO.
I'll start out with the pros:
Pros:
...
- Amazing animation and character design.
- Rudeus's journey of discovering new things about the world is fun.
- Rudeus x Sylphiette is very cute overall.
- Sylph, Roxy and Ghislaine are likeable characters.
Cons (this part will be way longer):
- Every male character is a piece of shit (except Ruijerd kinda) and every female is ok with it. Rudeus, Paul, that noble kid molesting Roxy and Eris's father. My next cons will expand upon the two worst ones.
- Rudeus's parents and the maid are dumb. Paul banged his woman so hard many times that the maid couldn't contain herself and had to spread her legs for him... If Roxy had stayed longer Rudeus would probably have 3 siblings instead of 2.
I think it's very funny how Paul just gets away with how scum he is because he is good in bed, even Ghislaine didn't escape apparently. Good for him I guess...? Polygamy is a thing I know but why even bother with the mom getting all worked up if after some magic words from Rudeus solves it?
The whole scene was just pointless since they all become an happy family right after anyway.
- Rudeus x Eris is very disturbing mainly because Rudeus is a pedophile. Yes I know they are both 10 years old but one has the mind of an adult.
The bed scene between the two would have been better if it didn't exist. It just makes our MC look very bad. Looks like what happened to him in his previous life was actually deserved.
- Eris herself. She is even worse than the male characters. She beats up Rudeus like a punching bag most of the times for no reason and she treats everyone except her father and Ghislaine like trash mostly because they would both beat her up even more than she does to Rudeus. She does get a bit better eventually but it's still not enough to make her likeable IMO. I will never understand the appeal of tsunderes. If she doesn't change she will stay as my most hated character of the show.
It could have been a 9-10/10 since those cons could have been easily avoided but I will drop it to a 7/10 because the pros are really good and the cons are really bad. I do believe the pros outweight the cons though.
TLDR; This anime is really good but also really disappointing.
