Read this just now in one afternoon/evening.
For a manga written back in 1974 = Yes, I would highly recommend fans of older mangas and "horror" mangas to read this.
The story sort of reminds me of Orochi, in that the horror is not supernatural rather it is the horror that is within the humans themselves.
In terms of artwork, the facial expressions and certain panels during important moments are very impressive and very well drawn.
As this manga only has 8 chapters, there is only 1 main character (who explored in lots of detail) and various minor characters.

I've been trying to find some old mangas recently and other than drifting classroom, this is the only other manga of Kazuo Umezu that I have read so far. Its good in terms of storyline and Sou as the main character feels as he could be utilized in more stories. The artwork is typical Kazuo Umezu i.e the characters with big eyes. But the stories are also very violent and often sometimes grotesque, for the 80s I can imagine this was seen as "normal" perhaps? And my enjoyment is more of understanding what the audience of the 1980s wanted in terms ... |
