The only Anime that portrays a mafia story properly as you've seen in the legendardy Godfather movies. Overall it's a little bit too edgy, slow paced and predictible, thus the low score, but the ending was well written and rescues the show.

Art Style 8/10
Calm, without any unnecessary fanservice and very fitting for the story.

Recommendation:
I'm not usually the type for violence and revenge. I couldn't even watch Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad. But this is a 4 hour investment with a fine ending so I wouldn't say to stay away from it.

We are dealing with another episodic show with a main character glueing them together. But just because you push the characters who change every episode through one drama cliché at a time doesn't mean that that's a good way to waste someone's time who has watched more than at least 30 anime's with exavtly the same plot twists and moralities. Now have cliché personalities play their part and the boredom is complete. Of course one shall not forget the dull animation and the forgettable, at times obnoxiously boring music.

Maybe this was an acceptable standard in 2008 but after Violet Evergarden I feel like we've ended ... up too spoiled for such mediocracy.

I have a LOT of issues especially with the last couple episodes but since I want this review to be for people before they have started watching this miserable failure of a show and not just people who are equally pissed I will leave out a lot of points. I just want to have it mentioned that they're there.
This review contains minor spoilers (mainly things you will find out pretty early on).

The plot was quite promising as it would deal with people reacting on their certain death while sacrificing themselves for their family, friends and, well, the entire earth but it always felt empty, especially ... when it becomes apparent that everyone is behaving in the most primitive ways - if their loved ones don't have a reason to live might as well let the entire world be destroyed. If they're happy, wellp, then there's a reason to fight for it. It's a matter of interdimensional wars and they all act on the smallest levels of morality. I mean sure, they're kids, but this isn't anything new and there is close to no development happening over the course of a dragging 24 episodes.
Later in the show it will be revealed that the robots you are fighting are manned just as yours are - however with pilots from another world and you are actually in an indermensional process of elimination; a type of superdimension is sending out this system to weed out the weakest dimensions.
And here is where we are facing the biggest problems which I want to spoil right away before I speak of the little fish: over the course of 24 episodes the existance of this superdimension will be scratched; even the faces of the directors will be shown - but nothing else will be explained. They never get any closer to the discussion of WHY this brutal game has started. I mean weed out weaker dimensions? What ever for? Why do they have so much more power anyways?
The moral question of killing other dimensions while maintaining your own is scratched but they decide not to think about it and just kill away anyhow. Sometimes in even more brutal ways than necessary. Even after revealing the interdimensionality and a slight uprise for a change of behaviour they will fall back into their old patterns simply mostly fighting or giving up because of personal issues.

As to the systematic review:
95% of the battles were decided in only one punch.
Considering the enemy is the same as them, humans, you would think that most of them would have as much force power as them. But for some reason the studio decided to make it a boring one punch battle every single time. And if it isn't one punch it will mostly look as dramatic as a sequence of 3 year olds punching eatch others heads.
The music is rather boring most of the time and not very elaborated or memorable.
There is close to no character development in anyone over the course of the entire show.

There is so much more I'm furious about but this would spoil too much.
However if you think that an extremely low moral system is fine, huge unexplained questions don't bother you and you tolerate toxic relationships while watching a bunch of poorly animated kids one punch giant robots int he most unespectacular way please go ahead and give Bokurano a shot.

I was first dissappointed when I saw the simple art style. It looks more like a slice of life OVA than a full fleshed movie. Just because it's short doesn't mean it has to lack quality, as we can for example see in Kotonoha no Niwa.
The Plot is much simpler than say The girl who leapt through time or Summer Wars - that would be expected from such a short span, especially if it goes into the peacefully paced slice of life genre.
Even the music didn't seem to have any theme you could remember.
However all that doesn't mean that it's not a ... movie I would recommend everyone to watch. The pace and feeling to it was perfect and an astonishing animation wasn't necessary - the idea to the plot was perfect enough to hit you right in your guts and let the feels stagger you even minutes later.
However it is quite sad that the music is so weak. I can overlook a simple animation but I think a brilliant soundtrack could have given it the chance to guide you through the movie a lot more smoothly and continuously spoken to emotions if that makes any sense.

All in all: weak animation and soundtrack but neat pace and a plot that everyone should have seen. Really enjoyable.

I reluctantly give it a 9 because I don't want to judge too emotioanlly and irrationally but it's A 10 IN MY HEART !!!
Yes, technically and objectivaley speaking it's not a masterpiece, it might have been a bit too slow, the humour is very basic, the characters cliché, the story almost forseeable....
BUT for some reason it reached me through and through and it's a 10/10 Enjoyment!!

Let's try to explain it.
I really enjoyed the art and the way feelings were perfomed, it really made up with the slow pace. The portrayal of the emotions also made me enjoy the characters even though ... they seemed quite cliché (angry screaming girls, boys who are only about cute girls)... I loved the fact that the feelings and thoughts of a lot of people were presented while a song was played so that even people who don't quite understand classic at heart can still kind of understand the background and what they mean. The music was lovely played, exactly what they were supposed to portray.

I am now officially in love with an anime girl. Would **** the shit out of kaori.

All in all:

Don't let the bad reviews keep you from watching it; give it a try, at least 3 eps.
If you still don't like it drop it by all means.

It is very interesting to find myself on the pro side of the critics when it comes to a torn community - it is the first time ever that I consider an anime a masterpiece while there are very detailed reviews against it around.
I have been wondering why it is that I have never heard of this fantastic anime despite this genre to be quite popular at the moment (Re:Life etc.), but apparently is not ... objectivaley a flawless show.

I found the pace to be incredibly enjoyable, the plot twists very interesting and enticing and the cliff hangers exciting. The characters were beautifully shaped, the animation isn't too flashy but right on point considering the category and the music fitting.

This is not an objective review.
But if someone is still wondering if they should watch the anime here are the reasons.

What can I say? The story, the animation, the soundtracks are all very unimpressive.
But just like the prequel nowhere in this world do I find peace for my soul so much and so guaranteed as when i watch Natsume Yuujinchou.
And I am writing this from a laptop on my travels through New Zealand.
The characters are lovely and the pace is just right - the stories are just there to transmit certain kinds of emotions and feelings which is just perfect. It's a ... hidden gem behind all those sparkly masterpieces like death parade, kill la kill, bakemonogatari.

While there where some outstanding morals and lines mentioned, the animation is quite great and, dear lord, the music is absolutely top notch (the soundtrack is sikkkkkkkkkk i just can't handle it); everything else is rather meh.
The story is quite flat, and overall the anime was pretty boring which is very very sad.
I would have loved to buy the Manga if one existed because some morals, as I've mentioned are absoluetly remarkable and hit mit rock-hard.

But honestly aside of the lines and the godlike OST I would not recommend anyone to watch this Anime.

This is all I have to say but myanimelist makes ... me write more so here's banter.
Personally I really hated some characters as e.g. the protagonists best friend because he obviously did not want to undersand her ways, which was extremely important to her, and would be to anyone who considers someone as a best friend.
The other characters never really have any kind of character developement. I would have loved to see more of that and the silent guy.

So overall good idea, weak execution.
