Oh my, where to even begin with the Back Street Girls? Every once in awhile there comes an anime that is so absurd in its premise, one is left inevitably questioning what it is that they have just watched before inevitably becoming hooked. I loved every moment of this anime and would end up binging it in a single setting (good stuff).

It’s unapologetic in its humor, fan service, and plot twists, and isn’t afraid to push the boundaries with respect to its narrative. Honesty, it’s a good watch from start to finish and keeps its momentum up until the final episode. I really cannot understand ... why it is so criminally underrated at a rating of “6 (at the time of this review)”.

It deserves to be at least an eight in my book at the very least and I question the tastes of any who would rank it lower than the aforementioned. I am of the belief that those that rank it low are of the “perpetually offended crowd”, that find any amount of fan service and unorthodox subject matter taboo due to purest views.

Don’t let the review bombers convince you not to give Back Street Girls: Gokudols a try (and if you liked it you might want to give Isekai Ojisan a try too).

A solid 8 out of 10 for me.

I initially had a rather visceral, negative reaction to Dragon Ball Daima, judging it to be nothing more than a soulless series wearing the skin of old school Dragon Ball, but lacking the lacking the heart that came with it. I was of the opinion early on that it was a generic mess with a bland plot and artificial stakes that could not match up to Z.

However, I kept watching and now 13-episodes in (as of this review), It would be criminal of me not to note how wrong I was in fact. Dragon Ball Daima is quite good; I was “unfairly judging it through ... the lens of Z due to nostalgia googles” and having been introduced to the franchise with Z.

Fans of Z (myself included) often forget that Z wasn’t first, that there was Dragon Ball in the beginning, and that’s what Daima feels like; a return to Dragon Ball, a return to form. It’s not trying to be Z and it doesn’t have to be Z to be good. It to me feels like what GT (which I enjoyed) could have been had the writing and pacing for GT been handled better.

Z was great but not every Dragon Ball series has to follow its formula; Daima is a 7 out of 10 in my book and I definitely enjoyed it more than Super (which just felt like a smorgasbord of soulless color swaps).

7Seeds felt like it had the makings of a great anime, but with poor execution. I haven’t read the manga, but the Anime itself felt more akin to a poorly thought out summer flick/series. Additionally there was not enough there to set it apart from better (in my opinion) anime like “High School Of The Dead” and “The Island Of Giant Insects” which cover similar apocalyptic themes (but with a different skin).

It just felt like an overwhelmingly generic experience; one only slightly better than “Blue Gender (which was one of the most generic and boring anime I have ever watched)” and “Geneshaft (which in fact ... is the most generic/boring anime I have ever had the misfortune of watching)”. However, despite the aforementioned, I still enjoyed it for what it was and as long as one is not expecting anything spectacular; they’ll enjoy it.

Good for a single watch, but I have a feeling only dedicated fans will be watching this more than once.

I give a 6 out of 10.

Often when a community appears to be overly negative about a given anime/anime movie, I am intrigued & compelled to check out what all the fuss is about. Given the rather “grim prognosis” of Blue Thermal post perusing the reviews, it was inevitable I’d take a gander at it; I disagree with the community.

At a rating of “6 (at the time of this post)” I feel that Blue Thermal is underrated and a victim of manga enthusiast that are unable accept the fact “that by necessity & the nature of different mediums, things change when adapted from written format to a film); what works for ... one medium does not always transfer well to another.

Blue Thermal (at least this film adaptation, haven’t read the manga), despite being a bit formulaic, was a well paced & enjoyable experience. If one is not viewing it through the lens of nostalgia goggles and prior knowledge of the manga; they will not be disappointed.

It was decent enough for me to care about the cast, the stakes were decent, and the ending was satisfying. I would compare to a well thought out holiday movie to use an analogy; you get a feel for what it is from the get-go but still scratches your itch a satisfying tale.

I give it a 7 out 10.
