The two share the concept of an "other" in the human category. Both focus on racism against this "other" human type and a war begins because of this.

If you like one, you'll like the other. Literally the same concept: world is taken over by water/sand, humanity survives by living on floating ships/islands, character from "another world" comes along, entire cast is introduced to a new concept of their world, etc. Both are very good, interesting, and will grip you by the first episode! Highly recommended! At least give the first episode a shot. And know that it only gets better from there!

While they aren't similar in plot, the shows are similar in aesthetic feel and theme. Both shows take place in ancient time in foreign countries and center on war. In Altair, the protagonist isn't a prince, but a Pasha (sort of like a military general) and he (like Arslan) is a pacifist and wants to prevent as much death and war as possible. So when fighting comes about, the protag for Altair (Mahmut) comes up with creative ways to avoid war and death.

Both shows have a light-hearted plot with younger characters as the main cast. They both also have a mystery theme to them although Clamp Gakuen doesn't revolve around supernatural mystery. But the show does have a fair amount of interest plots!

Both follow tales of the Shinsengumi as seen through the eyes of a third party member (aka, someone not originally part of the Shinsengumi). Also, both characters have similar love interests in the way of them being Meiko/Geisha. Both stories are pretty lenient on action--there isn't a ton. But the story is still very interesting! for both shows, I found it hard to stop clicking the next episode. If you like one, you'll probably like the other :D

They both center on/around the mafia. Both stories include organizations that employ "the gifted" to complete specialty missions involving targets the regular police force can't handle. Of course, both main characters have secret powers that are insanely awesome yet make them a target as people want their power. All in all, both are great and I highly recommend them.

Both plots rely heavily on a "racism" theme as well as changing government and civilian rights. There is also the concept of people "made" to control Mobile Suits. The only difference is that Iron-Blooded Orphans has less action (as in they don't fight in every single episode). But when there is no fighting they are forwarding characterization and introducing new plot pieces. All in all, Iron-Blooded Orphans reminds me of Seed a lot! It's definitely worth a try :D

Both stories follow a young boy (14-15) who want to create a world with as little blood-shed as possible. Both stories also feature the main character starting out on his own before slowly accumulating a group of diverse, entertaining, and interesting allies. Just like Arslan Senki strategy is used to win battles that seem impossible, rather than your typical shouting, muscles, and sword swinging. In addition, both stories take place in ancient times and cover the history of unique countries. In short, Shoukoku no Altair is basically Arslan Senki but Turkish. It's amazing and very entertaining! The author slings you into the plot and once you're in, you may never come out again ;)
