I came to read this manga because I had watched the anime and I wanted to know how it was gonna finish. To be honest I had no expectations since I found the anime pretty bad.

The first part of the manga is exactly the same as the anime, so I was pretty disappointed about that (I was hoping that maybe they had only done a bad adaptation but no).
Luckily, this disappointment disappeared after I read the whole manga.

Just to make you know, this manga has clearly not the idea of showing you the life of an otaku. The author probably wanted to make a protagonist ... that is weak and bullied, and the fact that he is an otaku is an « excuse » for justifying him getting bullied.

It’s so incredible how my opinion changed just by reading the other half of the manga.
I was really disappointed in the first half because everything seemed to be “fake” or rushed. Tsutsui’s family and friend were almost all detestable. His family was a shitty family with a mother who doesn’t even trust and help his son when he his called lolicon, he has a brother who trashtalk him 24/24 even though Tsutsui is always here for him. Not to forget two of his friends, Takanashi and Ishino... How can he even call them “friends” when Ishino stopped speaking to him for a rumor and when Takanashi tried to destroy his whole life just because he wanted Iroha for him.
And the author shows us Iroha as a bitch that goes out with everyone just because she’s cute...
I think I’m not gonna talk about Tsutsui’s best friend that wears fucking cat ears at school... At this point it’s really parodic of what an otaku is.

On addition, Tsutsui is way too weak as a protagonist. I know that it’s what the author wanted but I didn’t enjoyed watching Tsutsui getting bullied 24/24 without reacting or trying to justify himself, all that because « I don’t need anyone but my friends and I deserve that because I’m an otaku ». That’s not a good protagonist mentality and it doesn’t make me want to read a manga like that. (Well finally I read it so I have no word)

There’s another thing that I have to talk about. The relation between Tsutsui and Iroha is a huge problem since we don’t really know why they are going out... I mean, the author gives us some shitty reason but it’s way too light to begin a romance between two characters, and it feels really rushed. Because of that, their whole relation is based on something that we don’t really understand and everything seems pretty « fake » between them like I said before.

By the way the manga in the early chapters is not well drawn... it’s better later, but there are still some issues in the drawing, since sometimes, we can’t really recognize the differents characters that appears because their chara-design and drawing style is too similar.

There’s another thing that I didn’t like... it’s the fact that some emotions are less drawn. The characters aren’t blushing a lot and sometimes the relationships seems really bland. When I read a romance manga I like to see the emotions on the drawing and knowing that their heart is going « doki-doki ». Even the faces aren’t really expressives.

So... finally... what is the difference between the first part and the second part ? What made me change my mind ?
Well, I would say, pretty everything.

First of all, everything is less rushed and the relationships are developed, there’s an arc for every couple. It’s really cute to see how they end up together and the relation between Tsutsui, his friends and his family is more developed too, so everything seems less fake. That’s still not perfect but it became enjoyable to read even though Tsutsui is still a victim.

There’s still some problems like Tsutsui’s brother or Takanashi that continues to trashtalk him from behind but it’s way better than in the early part of the manga and we come to like the differents the characters.

At this point the relation between Iroha and Tsutsui is still pretty weird but it’s a bit better.
Then, there’s the ending, and this is were you are happy to have read so far.
The romance between Iroha and Tsutsui is developed and it’s really cute. It doesn’t seem fake anymore and we see Iroha in a different way too. She becomes really lovable.

When it is told that Iroha has only one month left, there’s a huge jump in the relation of the two protagonist but I found it really well made, and it really moved me when Iroha had to say goodbye.

Then, there’s the time skip of seven years, at this point, it gave me the exact same feeling as the anime « Kimi no nawa ». This feeling of the two lover not being able to see each other. At the beginning I thought that this manga was gonna be like « Your lie in April » but finally it took another way, and that’s really good.

Honestly I found the ending beautiful, seeing how the relationships ended up after seven years, seeing Iroha and Tsutsui meeting each other again. Everything is concluded and there is nothing more that we can ask from the manga. The author has done what he had to do and concluded everything. Now, if we want more, all we have is our imagination :)

To conclude, I loved this manga despite every relationships were bad introduced. The author improved his manga while its publication and he made it so good that at the end we don’t really care if the relations were bad introduced.

If you have only watched the anime, honestly, read the manga because it was really a beautiful story.

Honestly, my review about Darling in the Franxx is a bit mixed, I think this is a really good anime, but I found it hard to watch for the most part of the time.

Now you are probably like “wtf is he saying, it’s nonsense”.
Yes, it is but let me explain my point of view about it.

The plot was basically good. It’s the story of teenagers, living a life where they are only tools to fight used by commanders who call themselves “fathers”. We discover through the eyes of theses teenagers the real meaning of “living”. Finding love, having his own thought, being happy... being human.

The ... graphics and animations are really good, the sounds and musics are not a bit bad, and they even give us a romance with a female lead (we don’t see that often).

So what were the mains problems in darling in the franxx ?
To be honest, I dropped it two times, the first time in the early episodes, and then around the episode 18.

The main problem is that nothing happens during the most part of the anime. All they do is fighting the enemies for no other reason than “saving the world”. The development of the story seems really “random” and without logic. Furthermore, the characters change their mind really easily and it’s a bit hard to understand the connections between them in the early part of the anime, because they explain that through differents flashbacks later.

About the romance... honestly, it’s not so good. I hate that kind of romance, there is always someone sad and it’s not satisfying. This romance upset me so much, every actions of the characters are so stupid and irritating. We wonder if they even have a brain. It’s like it was meant to disappoint the audience, and that is what made me drop the first time.

Just to make something clear, what I found bad is the romance in general. I think that the romance between Hiro and Zero Two was really good. It was a bit trash a the beginning, but they made it really well, a true love.
So don’t get false thoughts, if you are a romance lover like me, not all the romance in darling in the franxx is irritating (well, you will still cringe a bit).

Still about the romance, some relations seem really “fake” or “randoms” like the relation between mitsuru and Kokoro. But we have to use a bit our imagination. they don’t show us a lot about the development of their relation, but there are a lot of time skip so we have to consider that more things happened.

What made me drop the second time is that the anime is really slow, it’s a bit repetitive, and when it’s not we don’t really care of what happens, I mean, they don’t show us what we would have wanted to see, they just show us random stuff about the adults and how the protagonists live their lives as human being. It’s not that I totally don’t care about that, but to entertain a public, they have to show a goal, an objective. Without that there is no way I will be entertained for more than 3 episodes. It’s a problem when at the middle of the anime, all we know is that « monsters are bad and Commanders are probably bad too ».

Now, the question is, why did I say that I thought it was a really good anime ?
Because of the episodes at the end, so, about the episodes from 19 to 24.

At the end, the trash romance is gone and the couples are formed, without anyone interfering with them, because the third wheel knows that it can’t do anything. And thanks god, we finally see a real objective.
All the story finally take shape !
I’m not gonna spoil, but the two last episodes gave me an incredible feeling !
You know, this feeling when you are about to cry, like if you had something stuck in the throat. When I have this kind of feeling, it means that this anime has successfully reached me. At this point, I can’t say that i didn’t like it.

After I finished darling in the franxx, I finally thought : « well, it may have been a bit boring, but it was really worth the end ».
I have one word to describe this ending : Perfect.

By the way, I saw some people saying that there was a lot of informations missing in the anime, but for my part I didn’t saw it like this.
We don’t need to go further in Hiro’s development to understand why everyone was liking him. I mean, it’s obvious that he is different from the others.
It is true that they could have done a better relation development between the different characters, some are a bit forgotten, but except this, I don’t see any other missing informations.

Finally, I will say that Darling in the franxx is an anime that you should watch. It may be boring and irritating for the most part of the time, but it’s really good at the end, and the graphics and sounds are good so there’s no reason to hold back.

Sooooo... i see everyone trashtalking about this anime and saying that it was probably one of the worst anime of the season... of course it wasn’t !

I’m not specially a fan of the Fate franchise but I like it and i’ve seen the other Fate series. I liked all of them and Fate/Apocrypha is not an exception.

I really enjoyed this show and I don’t know why there is so much hate about it. Generally, people judge an anime from his plot and his development of the characters. This anime has 29 characters and it seems that most of the trashtalkers say that it’s too much...

Of ... course it’s too much ! 14 masters + 15 servants is a lot and there’s no way that the studio can develop everything in 25 episodes, but take it in the good way ! They focused on 5-6 masters and 5-6 servants, and it wasn’t too bad ! They gave us 29 characters, yes, but they never promised to develop every of theses characters. Complaining about that is nonsense ! Honestly, who cares about the background of the red team’s masters ? Or Spartacus ? Or the randoms in the Yggmilenia family like Fat-man and Sadistic-girl ? We don’t give a shit about them, just take what the anime gives you.

About the characters, I can’t say that they were GOOD, but they weren’t BAD either ! And furthermore, giving us a lot of servants brings a lot of fights too ! I like seeing all theses heroes and discovering the powers they have. They developed the characters the less they could, but at least we can enjoy fate/apocrypha. More would have been great, but what we have is sufficient.

Like every fate series, there are a lot of fights that happen, just sit, relax and enjoy them.

Speaking about fights... it seems that the animation can be called “trash”. Really ? The animations is so fucking beautiful, the colors are nice and everything is smooth. “Yes but when the servants are fighting some frames are poorly drawn and the servants look like nothing”. Hey you, just tell me... why would you pause when two servants are fighting ? Theses moments are meant to be epic, you know, animation is money, I think that the animation is really well made because they added theses “ugly frames” to make the fights more intenses and smooth. It wasn’t a problem at all and I liked it a lot ! Complaining about that is only rage because in a fight, everything is fast, everything moves, you have no reason to pause. The animation in general is even more beautiful so i’m not gonna talk about it.

About the OST and the sounds effects. Well, the OST aren’t incredible or memorable, but they are still good. Personally, I think that they accomplished their role of bringing me in the anime and giving me good feelings, above all during the fights.

It is true that the sounds may be frequently loud with bass boosting. But for my part is wasn’t a problem. It didn’t blew up my ears or destroyed my car either. All they did was bringing me this feeling of power. I liked it and I hope to see this in other animes. If you are crying because you think it was too loud, maybe you should rethink about the volume you put while watching anime. It seems that people love crying when the a studio tries new things.

The plot was not bad but it wasn’t incredible either. It’s about whether the human is good or evil. I think that something in the end was missing, and that some relations are a bit too pushed. But they didn’t really had the choice in a short span of time of 25 episodes.

Finally, I can’t compare it to the other animes of this studio. I don’t know if the animations is really that horrible compared to precedents anime. All I know, is that I was always thinking « omg it’s beautiful » while watching. I enjoyed it and i don’t think that this anime deserves that much hate.

Hope you guys will find the path to enjoy fate/apocrypha as I did :3
