Carnival Phantasm

This two shows are directed by Seiji Kishi and the scripts are written by Makoto Uezu. As a result we get the same random over the top humor. There are good chances that if you like one, you'll like the other. These guys should stick to comedy. I'm desperate to find something as Hilarious as Seto no Hayanome and at least Carnival Phantasms comes close even though they are thematically worlds apart.

Love is not necessarily a straight line and sex does not help, or ... it does? Characters are dealing with their feelings or lack of feelings, with honesty or lack of honesty, and sex is a component of the story. Warning though, Velvet Kiss is almost Hentai and the premise is a bit over-the-top.

Song of the Long March

2 Princesses must flee and hide after a coup. These maidens have strong character with some weaknesses and doubts sometimes. It all takes place in historical settings : Old china for the Song of the long march and an imaginery old country for Akatsuki no yona (swords, spears and bows are the main weapons). Geopolitics is a critical issue for our two heroines, who deeply care about their country. Another similarity is the beautiful art. Differences : you'll find no fantasy element in Song of the long march, the approach is pretty realistic and related to China's history. Princess Chang Ge Li (Song of the long march) is extremly clever, curious and educated in diverse matters like politics, war, diplomacy, philosophy, self-defense and even learns foreign languages while Yona only "learnt" to be a cute princess at the start of the story (but that changes afterwards). The romance is a lot more prevalent in Akatsuki No Yona and in this manga there is a good portion of comedy, which works pretty well.

The main female characters are socially awkward, have good grades at school, are directs, have the same hairstyle and are cute despite or because of their awkwardness. The story takes place in a school setting with romance, friendship themes. Humour is sometimes similar and very good. Behond the Main femal lead, the rest of the cast is pretty different though and there's no "sci-fi" aspect in tonari no kaibutsu-kun.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica

Among the shows you can't judge by their cover you have School Days and Mahou Shoujou Madoka Magica. Despite the apparence they have dark tones, their general concept becomes "clearer" the more episodes you watch, which means it is required to watch many episodes if not all of them "to get it". Due to their uniqueness they are must-watch, at least for reference. It's harder to appreciate school days than madoka magica though because the concept is somewhat more extreme and school days has also many flaws due maybe to the too ambitious storyline. Note : avoid spoilers avoid reading reviews the more you can ... really.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

Both made me laugh with the same kind of stupid humor. Thers's a bit of fantasy, romance and a school setting. Seto is better though and focuses less than Baka on the boob and sexual jokes (which is, don't worry, not the only things you'll get watching these animes)
