Did i give it my all before i last gave up on doing something? Were my thoughts of giving up being okay because i gave my best only to console myself? Such were the thoughts running through my head as i was watching this gem of the season, reflecting upon the times where i gave myself empty consolations on how it was okay to give up because I gave my all when thinking back i never actually did try my hardest. This anime struck a chord within me and possibly many of the other viewers, and if you havent watched it yet,

for any who like watching the growth and developments of characters as they progress, or those who simply want to enjoy a nice adventure from the back of your seats, this anime is for you as you will be in for a thrilling rigde with moments that bring you joy and laughter, moments with thrill and excitement, moment filled with inspiriation and moments which would tug your heartstrings as you enjoy this wonderfully animated series of Akayona.
The story kicks off with our red haired princess, yona, losing her father, her sole parental figure who accompanied through her growing years to her childhood friend whom she always played with adored. Betrayed by her love and losing her father, yona's beliefs were shattered as the world around her, the days where she could spend in peace and tranquility crumbled. Just as she was staring deep into the abyss of despair and almost silenced, she was saved in the nick of time by her bodyguard and childhood friend.
Henceforth begins the journey of the sheltered princess Yona as she transverses the continent, learing about the harsh realities surrounding the world while slowly progressing to be a figure worthy to lead, one who inspires people to follow her as her caliber as a person is tested multiple times throughout her journey.
This series is wonderfully animated starting from the crimson red hair of yona and the well represented characters to the various castles, buildings and landscape with colours and brightness which fits very well with the story and mood settings of the anime. What I feel was done particularly well was yona's fury mode with regards to the art as it fully depicted her fury while bringing along a sense of anticipation to the following actions she would take to resolve her fury.
The op and ed tracks were also well made to suit the mood of the story with appropriate insert songs at moment where there was a major event happening, particularly the tune in episode 22 which really fit the mood of the snipe.
There was also great character development throughout the series with clear and steady plot progression, and was well-paced throughout the series after the first 3 episodes which might come off as a slightly slower start to some.
All in all, akayona was an interesting and enjoyable watch, packed with loads of action and development with ample laugh and a pinch of romance to complete the package but still the anime left much of the plot hanging and many praying after finishing the anime, praying towards the hopes of a season 2....
To anyone reading this who hasnt watch it yet why not give it a try? I may not have much knowledge about your tastes in anime but I can assure that this is a great watch, a gem awaiting discovery.
