Yet another Anime with a loser MC guy
Over the past few weeks, I binge-watched Kimi ni Todoke from season 1 through season 3. While this series is undeniably wholesome and heartwarming, it has some problems too. At the heart of its flaws lies the protagonist, Kazehaya.
Let me be blunt: Kazehaya is a cuck. Kazehaya is not as bad as the MCs cucks you see in other romance series, but he's getting close there. The deeper you dive into the story, the clearer it becomes that he ranks among the most underwhelming, spineless leads in romance anime. He spends most of his screen time imagining useless
...
and boring scenarios about their relationship, which resulted in him not talking or spending time with Sawako. For a guy supposedly in love, he barely acts like a boyfriend until the eleventh hour. Kazehaya also says mmhm about 100 times throughout the show because he's an empty shell.
If we’re being honest, Sawako carried this relationship on her back. Without her unrelenting kindness and effort, this romance wouldn’t have made it past the starting line. And that says everything about Kazehaya’s role—or lack thereof.
When comparing him to other characters, the gap becomes even more glaring. Ryu, with his laconic charm and quiet strength, is leagues ahead of Kazehaya despite barely saying a word. Even Kento, a side character, manages to be more engaging and proactive than our so-called male lead.
I hope there will be a season 4 where we can spin the attention more to Ryu and chizu like season 3 did slightly.
I rated this show highly because even though I had to tolerate a borderline cuck like kazehaya, the rest of the characters were nice. But if you cant stomach that then I wouldn't recommend watching this show.
Conclusion: Sawako, nice. Chizu, nice. Ayane, nice. Ryu, nice. Kento, nice. Kazehaya, bad.

The voice of Ryuuto is a pain to the ears for the full 12 episodes this show has. I can not believe how embarrassed I sometimes felt to even listen to what comes out of Ryuuto's mouth. Ryuuto is literally acting like a cuck non stop. The way he talks makes u want stop watching anime. Imagine having a conversation with someone, and everytime u hear this sound from Ryuuto: ddwaaahhhuu, dwhhaauhh, uughhm, aahhhmm. He makes this sound like 5 times an episode. Why? The classic introvert, the classic getting flustered at his girl, the classic I'm a dumbass. I dont understand why Japanese anime
...
and manga creators keep making these extreme losers in dating series. If you do, atleast develop them so it makes it more fun

Takemitchy's lack of growth remains glaringly evident during the whole season of this anime. He is still a weak and shallow character, failing to learn from his experiences. What's frustrating is his consistent pattern: he only pieces the situation together AFTER!! the damage has been done. Be it after a beating, a kidnapping, or even a death. The writing fails to captivate; it's more enraging than engaging. There is no satisfaction from this story at all.
Let's delve into an episode (spoilers ahead):
Takemitchy shares a moment with Emma, pondering her crucial role as Mikey's emotional anchor and her overall significance. He questions whether he's glimpsed Emma
...
in a tragedy in the future life. He becomes certain that Emma is not in the future. Within moments, Kisaki approaches on a motorbike, armed with a baseball bat, visible from a considerable distance. Instead of taking action, Takemitchy instinctively covers his head, ducks down like a brainless coward he is, leading to Emma's death. It's frustratingly predictable writing, where his predictions materialize too swiftly for him to act. A narrative letdown. This happens with everything!
This instance is emblematic of a larger issue - a terrible story. There are so many examples. In an earlier episode, when Takemitchy met his old friend, the old friend hints at a traitor within Toman, Takemitchy brushes it off as a potential ploy. Which absolutely made no sense whatsoever. Guess what happens? Predictably, Takemitchy faces a brutal assault only to eventually realize the truth about the traitor AFTER the fact he gets beaten up and loses someone. This repetitive storytelling pattern feels like a disservice to the audience.
Biggest spoiler below:
And finally, Kisaki. Kisaki is a guy who murders people without a second thought. U may ask why. Its all in his plan to rule Japan and become number 1. Why does he want to become number 1? Because he is jealous of Takemitchy and wants his girlfriend for himself. To do this he has a 10 year life plan to beat Takemitchy (while murdering people and making a mess out of everyone), just so he can get his girlfriend. That's why he always killed Takemitchy's girlfriend in the future because she rejected him. Towards the end of this season we finally get to the moment where Takemitchy can kill Kisaki in a 1v1 battle (putting another reminder that Kisaki killed multiple people and never felt any remorse about it). U know what Takemitchy does? Nothing yet again. Takemitchy can not pull the trigger, as he may have doubts or feels unsure about killing him. Where is the resolve? How can we even feel bad for Kisaki? Takemitchy is definitely a meme. Kisaki dies like a NPC later on which was ridiculous.
Overal, I wouldn't associate with people like Takemitchy in real life, as he is a person who can never get a job done. The review can be seen as mostly negative because I dedicated it about Takemitchy. However, the anime can still be entertaining to watch and has many great characters that a viewer will definitely like. Otherwise this would be a 3/10 show.
Also, adults in this series only live indoors. They cant be spotted outside.
