This is my first review in a long while, so I might be a bit rusty. I also haven't watched this in a few months, but I have been suggesting it to a lot of people, so I thought I would write up something.
Shiki's story is one you may have heard before - a small, rural village where strange happenings and murders start to occur and this is true, but the more you get into the show, the better it gets. I think a lot of people do not give Shiki a shot because they think it will be too generic and possibly because
...
of the art and I also felt the same way, but I was very pleased that I gave Shiki a shot.
It starts off rather simply, with a small rural village with a tiny population lives their daily normal lives, but things are about to be disrupted by the new, mysterious family that has built a giant mansion in their small village and plans to move there. This is when things start to go downhill in the town, as people start dying off one by one and coming back to life late at night, only to stalk and kill some of their own family members and friends. However, these 'creatures' aren't lifeless, mindless beings, but have their own goals, that aren't always what you would expect them to be.
The show is semi episodic, in that each episode is named after the number of people that have died in the show (8th night, 9th coffin), but the story focuses around the doctor of the town who is slowly being driven off the edge because he can't save anyone who comes into his care. As more and more people die, the more disturbing the show gets.
At the later parts of the show, I was genuinely surprised at how good the show got and makes you wonder who are the monsters? The monsters or the humans?

Clannad After Story is a beautiful story about the continuing and blossoming relationship of two of the main characters from the first season of Clannad, Tomoya and Nagisa.
The plot is a bit more mature and serious, as most of the story does not take place in high school anymore, but instead revolves around first, some of the problems of those still close to Nagisa and Tomoya while still in school, but from there the story shifts into mostly just Nagisa and Tomoya. Yet again, the story takes a more serious turn as it goes on about Tomoya's strained relationship with his father, Nagisa's failing
...
health and her need to stay out of school for long periods of time, Tomoya out and working and living on his own and their relationship together, as it moves beyond boyfriend and girlfriend and goes into them creating their own home and family together.
Clannad After Story touches on many serious matters such as drugs, alcohol, gambling, pregnancy, abortion, death, neglect, depression, parenting and much more, so be prepared to fall in love all over again and have your emotions run wild.
So far I love the story, but it is not over, so it might get changed to a 10 once the ending has completed.

I decided to write another review on Chrno Crusade because my last one wasn't very good for me and considering this is one of my top two favorite anime of all time, I thought it deserved something better.
For the general, loose synopsis, Chrno Crusade is about a young girl named Rosette Christopher, who makes a contract with a demon named Chrno that cannot access his true powers anymore due to reasons in the past and together they are attempting to find Rosette's brother, Joshua, who had something extremely horrible happen to him in the past and he went missing. Rosette works with a church as
...
a demon exorcist but has Chrno, a demon himself, as her partner. Generally, the church looks down upon this, but since Chrno is an exceptionally sweet guy and Rosette will not part with him, he is allowed to be around.
From the outside Chrno Crusade just appears to be a story about a girl, her demon partner and them hunting down demons, but the story inside of that is much deeper and an epic 'crusade' through time, through Heaven and Hell, across the land and with amazing and interesting characters laced into everything.
The story overall is one of my favorites - I love everything about it from the setting - the early 1900s and revolving around the Catholic Church and their obsessions with demons and artifacts, the clothes they wore, the weapons they use, the different demons and devils they encounter to the actual story itself, with Rosette, Chrno and her missing brother that she loves dearly.
The villain is overall one of the most evil villains in anything and has a plan that would destroy most of the world and he cares not for who he uses, hurts, and kills in the process, as long as he gets his way.
The main characters, Chrno and Rosette are among my favorites - Chrno is my favorite guy. His normal form, a 12 year old demon, is absolutely adorable and sweet, who is extremely caring and loving, but when in his true form, a sinning devil, he is the most amazing character, ever. He is loyal, loving and would do anything for Rosette and you know this from the beginning of the entire story.
A lot of people call Rosette whiny, but like a lot of other shows, she often makes light of things that would otherwise be viewed as extremely dark and dismal because you need some relief in your life, when you're living the way they do.
The voices in Japanese are amazing, too - Chrno's voice actor became my favorite of all time due to Chrno and still is to this day. Rosette makes me giddy, too, since she does a voice of a special character in my favorite anime of all time, as well as Chrno Crusade. The music is exceptional, too, fitting very well into the time period, but mixing in the fantasy and demonic attributes, as well.
Chrno Crusade is an outrageous story of love and loyalty, Heaven and Hell and should not be missed by anyone that wants to be moved as much as any show can move you, and who wants to experience a truly deep and meaningful storyline, with wonderful and real characters.

School Days is a psychological anime, number one, so do not think it is about cute children playing in school and having happy days. School Days is an anime about how cheating on someone can really end up messing with their head and lives and how the human heart and mind are very fragile and how friendship is very precious and when destroyed in the worst way, it can have the worst consequences.
The main character is your seemingly typical anime guy in high school that listens to music and has a bunch of perverted thoughts about girls all the time, but who turns out to
...
be quite different than your usual main character guy and he has a crush on this girl that he sees on the train all the time and he ends up taking a picture of her and putting it in his phone. In class, another girl who he happens to sit next to, named Sekai, sees the picture in his phone and tells him her name and then, from there goes about getting him and the girl on the train to know each other so that they can try and start a relationship, all the while falling for him herself.
This anime is very much a psychological anime and deals with relationships and what happens when someone cheats on someone, but not only one person, many people. The main character is one of the most despicable characters I have ever seen, if not my MOST HATED character and cares nothing for the people around him, it seems, but to be able to hate him that much and to have so much passion for his pain and wishing something bad would happen to him was an exciting feeling because I really felt he would have to get what was coming to him. He hurts basically every single person he meets and cares nothing about how they feel when he is done with them, only to use them again in the future. He walks all over every girl in the anime, save one or two, and they all basically sit around begging for more mainly because they want to know what it's like and why the others are doing it, so they do it, too.
The majority of the anime the main character is, in my opinion, a sociopath, as well as a sex-addict, but there are moments here and there where you see that his actions actually do bother him and these are very important in this particular anime because if they did not have them, he would truly seem to be a monster. It is sometimes scary that the most evil people are not demons or supernatural at all.
The ending is something that is perfect, though, in my opinion and it is something I ABSOLUTELY saw coming, but the way that it was done was really something creepy and gave me chills - I really enjoyed it! It was an awesome turn, but something I saw coming the entire time and something I kept repeating throughout the entire thing, over and over again and when it finally happened, I was extremely happy and satisfied. It has a very twisted ending, as well, so do not be fooled by the innocence of the title because this anime is anything but innocent, but make sure you watch until the end because there is more than just one awesome, sick twist at the end that will leave you satisfied with the feeling you get watching the rest of the anime.
Everyone basically gets what they deserve because this anime shows that the human mind and heart is an extremely fragile thing and that you can't just push someone aside like they are trash the second you are done with them because they may not be done with you or ready to let you leave.

The first reason I came across Higurashi no Naku Koro ni was in an animation icon in which I saw a very graphic and disturbing scene and even though it was only about 8 seconds long, it was enough to have me hooked and this was because of what I could see - something insane happened, someone else was there, they were shocked, but then they looked liked they laughed insanely, probably out of fear and being psychotic, I presumed, but I had no idea what it was! I looked for a bit, but did not find it and about two weeks ago I finally
...
did come across it, found the name and began watching and I will say that within the first 20 seconds I was hooked.
I do have a rather disturbing view on animes such as this, as well as others that are mature, violent and have tragic, jealous love stories - they are my favorites if done correctly and this one is done amazingly and that is only one part of what I love. There are an assortment of murders, but you are never sure what to believe or what to think, nor what is good and what is wrong and they are all done for the best reasons - the reasons that I look for in anime, books, movies and anything else because they are the true human emotions - love, jealousy, family, fear, protectiveness of those that you love, abuse, sibling love, first love, first crushes and everything else that makes a person what they are. Things that would be precious memories are nothing more than a myriad of blurs and confusion in which the main character sometimes does not know what is real and neither does the viewer. If you can top a psychological thriller with supernatural elements, then I am in my glory and this anime does just that.
Aforementioned, the first moments of the anime immediately will let you know if you can stand this kind of anime or not - a lot of is done like the beginning, which you see a rather vague vision of a guy beating something on the ground most likely to death with what looks like a bat, but you have no idea why, obviously and you do not see the actual beating, it is left to the imagination and much of the anime is like this and if you have an active imagination like me, filled with theories, then this anime is perfect for you!
Once the shocking beginning is over, if you are still watching and did not get disturbed and turn away from your screen, you are put into the normal setting for an anime - or so you think. You see a bunch of beautiful girls that look very different and act very different, as well, and the main character guy that was just doing the beating in the beginning, and they are all in school having a dandy time.
By now, you already know that this is not a happy, simple anime, so nothing obviously is what it seems and your mind immediately starts racing as to what just happened and if the violence started so soon, when could the next thing happen and it could literally happen at any moment!
The main characters live in a tiny little village away from main cities and civilization and they only have about 2,000 people in the entire town. The school where the main characters go is nothing more than one classroom which houses all the students in the town, from grade-school to high school, all in one classroom and there are only 15 students altogether, so once you learn this, you are creeped out even more because this is a very unique and disturbing setting. The town is in the middle of a beautiful, huge forest and the whole area is very majestic and isolated.
The storyline of this anime is so intricate and woven that it really is hard to explain in words and I sat for a while before even trying to write this. You will want to watch the scenes again to make sure you didn't miss anything and so many things will rush through your head when you watch this anime because so many things happen unexpectedly and you have no idea why.
Contrary to what I thought, there isn't really an awful lot of actual violence on screen and the first animation I saw was one of the worst ones in the anime. However! There are a ton of different horrific things that happen, but you only get to see the beginning of them for most of the anime and your mind is left to figure out everything else, but really is hard to do!
For me, once again, this anime was perfect. I love watching things where you have to think and have theories and it makes your mind work, and this anime does just that. I was constantly trying to figure out what was happening and who was really who and even though I was right a lot of the time, when I was right, it was just totally more disturbing because the things I thought were very creepy.
This is a psychological supernatural thriller. There are very horrible things that happen very often, but you, the viewer are left to figure out what is real and what is not and who is really in the wrong and in the right. The first season of the anime covers four question arcs and two answer arcs, where the second season will hopefully finish the rest up.
The voice actors... oh, the voice actors were possibly among the best I have ever heard and they were totally satisfying for reach situation. Sometimes someone screams in a situation or laughs insanely, but they are not good at it - that is not the case in Higurashi. All the voice actors are extremely talented at their roles and most of them will actually give you chills at one point or another.
I loved the art! The facial expressions and the different ways the characters eyes would change were absolute genius and I loved how the screen would slowly go over to their faces, so that you, the viewer, would have to wonder what their expression would be - would the character be sane at the moment, or would they be out of their mind? They also did not only have one expression for when people were upset and mad and insane, there were many different expressions for the different characters - they all have their own personal insanities!
The music is absolutely awesome for the anime. I got two of the soundtracks afterwards and have been listening to them non-stop. The music goes perfectly with the anime and sometimes it's happy, but generally it's creepy, psychotic, mysterious and makes you very nervous and scared, but it's also beautifully done. The opening theme will capture you and drag you in and you will have it stuck in your head non-stop and trust me, that is a good thing because it is awesome!
I highly suggest this anime to anyone that liked animes such as Elfen Lied, which is another of my favorites. This anime is now among my favorites and I highly await watching the sequel, which I have not started yet and I am so happy to have come across this anime, I will admit... I LOVE THIS ANIME!

I just recently finished sola and I wanted to start off by saying that I am very strange in what interests me in an anime and instantly, from the first episode, I knew that I would love sola. The song in the introduction of the first episode caught at my soul and moved my heart and I also have a personal attachment to taking pictures of the sky and my digital camera, which is what the main character in this anime is like, of course he doesn't quite understand why he is obsessed with the sky, but there is a deep and wonderful meaning behind
...
it.
The anime, as I said, for me, had an awesome introduction, the music, the setting, the mystery of the night, the going to take pictures of the sunset and all that was beautiful, but I also loved how normal and cute the main girl character came off as when the main character first met her. She was not remarkable or amazing (although beautiful, one of the most beautiful I have seen), but she was very cute and charming and he instantly adored her as so many people would have.
The anime does go a bit slow from there and moves from the main characters a bit, going into parts of their stories, but I really enjoyed the weird flashbacks they threw in there because they were extremely interesting and made you really want to know what had happened in the past, so when the anime did slow down a lot, it could keep you going for a bit.
The anime is very serious at some parts and also very mature and what some people would consider slow in action, was just the blossoming relationship between the main characters, which, to someone watching this kind of romantic and supernatural anime would expect. There are very cute scenes between the main character and the girl, Matsuri and as the title says, it is very focused at the sky and Matsuri's power/ailment/curse is quite awesome in my opinion, I just wished she had used it more.
I really enjoyed the turn it took with the main character's sister, Aono and her history and just her in general. She was insane, but that's what I like in anime girls and she was fiercely loyal and loving, which is awesome.
The art was really wonderful, in my opinion! I adored how they were drawn and Matsuri, especially, is one of the most beautiful anime girls I have ever seen. I enjoyed how Aono and Matsuri were both very unique and splendid looking, but the main character and his normal friends were generally normal looking, since they were somewhat normal people. The main character's best friend, Mana, was also very enjoyable, unlike her part in many other animes when she is just in love with the guy and depressed all the time, but a tomboy, this time she had personality and caring and she was smart and curious! The settings were beautiful and the time that the main character and Matsuri did spend together was basically magical, in my opinion and the way it was animated gave off this unrivaled feeling of wonder and love.
I always enjoy when in anime, people have normal responses to things and can act all sneaky and weird about things - example, the friend, Mana, thinks someone is at the main character's house, so she gets him out of it and then goes snooping! Normalcy!
The turn that the anime takes is very unique and the true story behind who you think is bad and good and everything else is also very interesting. The fights were fun to watch, even though not enough of them, in my opinion and I overall really loved this anime.

When I first heard the name Wolf's Rain, I was like, hm, I wonder if it has wolves and when I found it that not only did it have wolves, but the main characters ARE WOLVES, I was so overjoyed, so I had to start watching it.
First thing, I hate to say it and be superficial, but I will - I love Kiba. When I first saw him, he moved my soul and my heart, he was so beautiful in both human form and wolf form, I loved him. I watched in English the first time and I even loved his voice, since Johnny is
...
amazing.
As I continued to watch it, I got more and more attached and I really liked the characters and their different storylines and then the overall storyline is absolutely amazing - it's extremely original and engrossing and I adored watching it and looked forward to the next episodes that aired each week very much.
I went through all the emotions with this anime ranging from sadness to crying to happiness, anger and fear. I totally suggest this anime to anyone that likes wolves, serious dramas, awesome fighting, blood and an awesomely intense and original storyline, beautiful BEAUTIFUL art and good music!

I first watched Angel Sanctuary after seeing pictures of it and reading about it for quite some time. Personally, some of my favorite animes are always demons, angels and fantasy, so I really wanted to see this anime and learn a lot about it. Unfortunately, it is too short and where it ends, is where the anime finally gets interesting, but for what you do see, the anime is very good and very catchy.
This may sound strange, but I enjoy incest stories when they are done tastefully and make the storyline actually interesting, and in this case, it is. The love between them is real,
...
but they can't be together and the reasoning for their love is just awesome.
You cheer for them and yet you do not and the story that goes on is very deep and very meaningful and then it takes an insanely drastic turn and then it ends and all you want to know is - WHAT HAPPENED.
The art is splendid and some of the nicest I had seen for the time and also just made me want to see more, so it was really beautiful characters, and I really think others should see it.
However, I would totally recommend this if you plan on going and learning about the rest of what happened and reading it!

I first watched Akira a long time ago and the first time I watched it, I will admit, I was very confused and very creeped out at a lot of parts. I watched it again a few years later and this time I understood it much better and could actually sit through watching it without squirming and the overall concept of Akira is extremely fascinating, it really is a good movie with a lot of meaning in it, and it is extremely moving, as well. The storyline takes place in a place where most of would recognize and not totally feel out of place, but
...
the overall feeling of the place is dangerous and reckless and not a place you would necessarily want to be, but a place you could definitely imagine yourself being. It starts off kind of normal and then suddenly takes a very odd turn in being very science-fictiony and going into many deeper meanings of children, loyalty, family, love and believing what's wrong and right.
The animation is very good for when the anime is from and even now, watching it makes it feel better because it does have older, rougher animation, giving the feeling of the anime an even more dangerous and unfamiliar one.
The music is very good and also goes extremely well with the movie and the voice actors are excellent in English and Japanese.
