The age of cyberpunk sure was an interesting time. Angel Cop fits squarely in the cyberpunk genre and has all one would expect: a tough but cute woman as the protagonist, police organizations hovering in a gray area of the law, tough and characterized teammates, cyborgs, crooked politics, obscure firearms, espers, and questions about what humanity really is.
Our main character, code-named Angel, is a young, tough woman who is naive to what justice under the law really means. As the story progresses, she questions what is justice and what is righteousness as the world around her grows evermore clouded and complex. As terrorist plots are

revealed, others also claim to be the justice of the world, but with a high cost of human life. To say anymore is revealing too much.
Personally, I've always liked the rounded style prominent in the late 80's and early 90's. Angel is a real cutie and the roundness of the cast gives everyone more warmth. Of course, much like Major Kusanagi, Angel looks cute but is a tough cookie, like Max Rockatansky.
Give it a try, why don't you? If you aren't versed in the Japanese language, a kind gentle/m/an translated the manga into English in 2016. It's well worth an afternoon read, especially with some retro wave to further set the mood.
