Dead Dead Demon’s Dededededestruction is such a bizzarre manga, so bizzarre that I’m willing to say that no manga in existence is even remotely any similar to whatever this was about. I’m going to be brutally honest here, DeDeDeDe is not for everyone. It’s a very slow paced slice of life with some hints here and there of an underlying plot. Does the author deliver it in the most meaningful and excellent way? Yes, of course. We are talking about Asano after all, he knows what he’s doing and knows how to make use of every single little thing the story presents to us. But
...
is it hard to keep reading until the turning point of the manga and finally reach the real plot? Also yes. I’m not talking personally, as I have enjoyed it since the first chapter, but I acknowledge that a slow paced dialogue-heavy slice of life isn’t something easy to go through, especially with an unusual kind of comedy. Do I still recommend it? Yes, everyone should give it a try nonetheless. It’s a must read in both the slice of life and sci-fi genres. Just one thing, don’t go in expecting another Punpun type of story, this manga is not about depression and wrong choices in life, but on the contrary it is about learning to cope with the sometimes sad reality.
Otherwise known as DeDeDeDe (or even better, DDDD to make it even shorter), takes place during a particular time in life of a group of girls— the aliens have invaded the earth. But not quite the way you might perceive it or how Hollywood’s productions made it look like most of the time. In this story, the huge aliens’ mothership floats right above everyone’s head. If you think it’s gonna be an all-out fight between humans against aliens, I’m glad to tell you are wrong. Asano takes an interesting and perhaps even realistic approach to an alien invasion. The girls keep being girls, trying to live their lives to fullest while having to deal with heartbreaks, studying but also enjoying their adolescence doing whatever they want. It’s a story about the everyday’s life of these girls, while struggling to cope with the way their reality suddenly changed one day and could do nothing about it. I mean, what are you even supposed to do with aliens coming from a civilization thousands of years ahead in technology? Everyone in their own way tries to accomodate to the new lifestyle, and I promise you, it’s gonna be an interesting journey. It’s like mixing genres that has got nothing to do with each other and yet flow into each other so well.
Let’s talk about the characters first. Every single character is perfect for this manga. We have gag characters, politicians (which are made fun of in the most satirical way), idols, NEETs, rebels, activists, aliens, mangakas and three masterfully crafted and written main characters— Ouran, Kadode and Ooba. Kadode is the first character you meet in the manga. She struggles with two things, love and family. A teenager having to deal with struggles typical of a teenager. She wants control over her life and emotions but just doesn’t seem to ever happen. It’s not about the aliens, her life is just about her struggles. To comfort her, we have her childhood’s friend Ouran. Ouran is a seemingly happy-go-lucky character which copes to the aliens’ invasion by making absurd internet jokes, and she always deliver them in the most weird way. She’s personally the “life” of the story, without her, DeDeDeDe wouldn’t have been the same. Lastly we have Ooba. Ooba is an idol, or maybe an alien, or perhaps both? Who knows, “lol”. He’s the most absurd character in the story, and is also the one I appreciated the most. I recognize he was not an easy character to write considering who he is. But did the author know how to deal with his character? Absolutely. He wants to learn about everything and everyone around him. Can’t say much about him cause there’s nothing to say. Or maybe there is? Who knows, “lol”. Of course there are many other characters in the group, and each one of them had an interesting development. Do I wish we expanded more on the group? Yes. Although the only possible way would have been to stretch the story out some more, but unfortunately the manga is relatively short, so there wasn’t much time.
Do I even have to praise Asano’s art. It’s mesmerizing, aggressively detailed, stylistic, complex, deep and realistically beautiful the art in this manga. From the photo-realistic backgrounds to the weirdly designed side characters. It’s like mixing the unrealistic with the realistic. It’s not surprising how well everyone still fits in the picture despite being so absurdly designed considering Asano’s other big serialization— Oyasumi Punpun. I believed he had already mastered the complexity of mixing absurd with reality with Punpun, and he probably did, but with Dededede it’s obvious the growth as an artist since his previous work. I have really not much to say, I’ll be honest. The manga’s art speaks for itself and gives life to the world, characters, humour and everything.
Now, get out of your bed, take your car, ask a friend or two to come with you and start driving. It’s not important where, just keep driving wherever you feel like to go. Go visit places you’ve never been to, cities you’ve never seen and take roads with some beautiful sights when looking at the window. Can you feel some excitement? I do. This is pretty much what Dededede feels like to me. Impossible to predict because you never know what could happen next. This is where the enjoyment from this manga comes from— the unknown. Of course, there are some aspects of this “unexpected” that at first could come off as nonsense, which is understandable, the second half of the manga is pretty much a whole different thing from the first fifty chapters, but fear not, the author knows how to handle even what at first makes no sense. Again, it’s not an easy manga to enjoy. The whole lot of dialogue a lot of times can turn you off, but don’t worry, a lot of it is skippable. You could decide to read half of what they say and still able to understand almost everything. And that’s what I did a lot of times, specifically when the politicians spoke.
Overall Dead Dead Demon’s Dededededestruction is a manga that mixes absurd with reality while delivering one of the best slice of life ever in a very exceptional way. Everything this manga does is an achievement for most story writers. It’s a memorable journey from start to finish, which again I recommend to everyone willing to read a slow paced story out of the ordinary with charismatic characters, sudden turns of events, shocking reveals, heartwrenching moments, internet comedy, heavy tension and of course, with an amazing group of characters. It’s a story that by all means shouldn’t make sense, and yet it does.
Read this manga when you have time. For any weird phrasing order or grammar mistakes, I apologize in advance as I’m not a native speaker.

Ao no Flag, or Blue Flag translated, has been flying under the radar for too much time. A manga like no other. You won’t find anything even remotely similar to Ao no Flag. So, before we get into the review mind that, if you still haven’t read it and you have some kind of ideologies on society, this manga might not be your cup of tea. Taking that into account, my review will be based off of my enjoyment and point of view alone. Now, without any further interruptions, let’s get to the review. Minor plot points spoilers ahead.
Ao no Flag (AnF for short) is
...
what you can call a coming of age story, and as such, it deals with many heavy but common themes teenagers go through their adolescence. Everything revolves around love and acceptance, and AnF represents the latters perfectly. The story is about five teenagers, two guys and three girls. They seek for happiness and love, chase dreams for their future, look for a meaning in youth and ask themselves if society is with them or against them. so, when I say that this manga is like nothing else, is because it dives into a yet to be explored territory by japanese authors and goes to a direction you would never expect: the LGBTQ+ community. Therefore, no need to mention that the plot is character-driven. Yes, every chapter is about interactions and relationships, and as it goes on they get more and more complicated. AnF’s story is a thought-provoking one that criticizes society through the eyes and minds of teenagers as they enter the forbidden territory of love. As a consequence, suffering, anger and depression are more than often represented through the actions of the characters: the most important side of this manga.
Every character represents a typical teenager. We have the one guy who can’t accept and comprehend his bestfriend’s sexuality. There’s the shy girl who motivates his boyfriend to make actions for his good. There’s the lesbian who hides his hidden love towards the other main girl and suffer from it and the gay one who doesn’t want to be who he is. And then the last girl introduced who wants to have a normal friendship with a guy and always misunderstood for wanting a friendship with a person of the opposite sex. While these main characters have the purpose of representing the society that differs from the rest, the side characters represent society and its ideology towards the minority. Society is both a blessing and a curse in life. It can either help you or make you feel worse. There’s that one side of it that supports you and the other side that doesn’t want to help you. The main characters find themselves in a harsh society that makes you question about yourself, what is around you and who will stay with you. Touma, Ichinose, Futaba, Musumi and Mami are the ones who will tell their story to you and their social constructivism battle.
The art might be the weakest point of this series. While being a very good drawn manga, it doesn’t have the excellent One Punch Man’s art, the insanely well portrayed horror-ish Mieruko-chan’s artsyle or the unstable but unique drawings of Kimetsu no Yaiba. So yeah, the panels feel clean but as I said they are nothing sort of unique. On the other side, while it might sound both funny and incoherent with what I said before, the art is also the strongest point of the series. Meaning that, the author manages to convey strong feelings through silence. Silence is a very important word for this manga. The characters’ silence play the big part in AnF, and by that I mean hiding their true selves. So, not only it’s important story wise but also artistically speaking wise. There are whole scenes of characters saying absolutely nothing, yet you can feel what they feel. Also, as simple as some scenes can get, the author likes playing around a very interesting first persona view sometimes. You see what they see, nothing more.
Being part of the LGBTQ+ and also an adolescent, of course my enjoyment is out of this world. I can relate to most, if not to every main character in the manga. Fear not, you don’t have to be a teenager or part of the LGBTQ+ family to enjoy this manga. It touches many important themes and I think you’ll find yours. Ao no Flag in less words is a criticism to society through youth. Therefore I recommend you to read this manga for many reasons.
Sorry for my grammar I’m not native speaker and thanks for reading! Hope you found this review hopeful!

Mieruko-chan is one of a kind. A manga that shines brighter than most manga. It’s what we would call an hidden gem. It’s something you didn’t know you needed but were still looking for. First of all, let’s be clear that what I sad applies for horror fans. This is a love letter to all of us, bored with all of those what-so-called horror books, those that they never leave an impression to you, and you just give up on the genre. Ladies and Gentlmen, Mieruko-chan gave to all of us readers hope. So yeah, without further distractions, let’s get into it and see what’s
...
it about.
In horror manga usually the plot point is a let down. It never gets interesting, nothing is ever explained, and if did, it’s poorly done. Mieruko-chan strength consists in episodic events and in an overarching plot. It’s very slow, it gives you hints here and there about the real main plot, but without giving away too much. This alone, in my opinion, will keep your interest strong not knowing what the real deal with this weird manga is. The mystery element is very important in this one. It’s an unpredictable story. Thanks to the excellent writing, the author will never let you predict what’s gonna happen next. All you have are some at first seemingly filler chapters, but truth is that they are not. No time is wasted here, each ghost helps the story moving forward. What you will do will be trying to figure out what’s going on. And I will repeat myself. This overarching plot is an unpredictable one. So if you’re looking for a manga that transcends the usual, boring, repetitive, uninspired and predictable story, there you go, Mieruko-chan exists.
You could argue that the story is the most important factor in a manga, and I’ll gladly tell you that it’s not. The art is one of the strongest points of this book. Its fluidity and skill to switch from a cute drawing to an horrific one, is truly impressive. Each ghost has its own story to tell just by their looks. The attention to make the most horrifying and detailed monster is omnipresent. I might even go as far as saying that it rivals Berserk’s creativity. Ghosts, monsters and so on, every and each one of them is something you would never want to have in your dreams. The artwork gives life to them they almost feel real. If you want to have nightmares, go ahead and read this. By the way, there are some emotional events. Mieruko-chan also has that.
If this wasn’t enough, Mieruko-chan takes the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” and makes it relevant. The main characters might not be so complicated and developed, but that’s not the strongest point. What I can say is that the main girl has finally shown a little bit of progress, but that’s not what I want to talk about. The ghosts ARE the highlights of this specific department. Although they might look scary, some of them have emotions and a story behing their terrific appearance (some of them are also inspired by more famous monsters). Behind their appearances lies a meaning. This is when the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” comes into play. Yeah, they are scary, but some of them are more than that, not every ghost that the main heroine will meet will try to kill her. So, is it a good ghost or is it a bad ghost? That’s something unpredictable and you will only know the answer at the end of the chapter.
As for the enjoyment, Mieruko-chan will make sure to give you the best experience you can have. Most of it comes from the strong contrast between the fun and slice of life moments to the horror ones. This is what makes this manga so special, it lets you breath through all the horror with some good comedy. The expressions of the main heroine are pure gold, especially when she starts crying, so like, in most chapters. Trust me when I say you’ll never get bored while reading this. It’s pure fun and horror and what Mieruko-chan does is taking both and turn them in their most perfect form. That’s just how good the manga is.
Overall, Mieruko-chan is an extremely underrated manga, recommendable to most people and for every age and gender. Please, do yourself a favor and if you still haven’t did it, go read this manga now. You won’t regret it!

I’m one of the few readers who followed this manga from the start to where it is now, and guys, what a ride. As one of the reviewers said, in the first ten chapters you get this feeling of imminent axing from WSJ, just close an eye and keep reading. Anyway, truly a refreshing manga, Kimetsu no Yaiba takes elements from the boring and repetitive Shounen genre and gives its own vibes, colors, atmosphere and setting, putting everything together. What I mean is, Kimetsu no Yaiba does NOT revolutionize the Shounen, the author gives his best to make it unique in its own repetitivness and
...
boringness. So how does KnY differ from the others?
First of all, the manga takes a different route from the very beginning. We all know everyone dies but the protagonist alone or with one or two friends of his in every manga we might think of. Here in this historical adventure with the protagonist survives the sister, soon to be a demon. Now what are the demons? Humans transformed into humanoid creatures thirsty of human flesh. The enemies of our race. Props to the mangaka tho, with time in shounen mangas the enemies tend to be blank and without a personality. Here each and every demon is different, has its strenghts and weaknesses and its past/story. The demons are truly the horror elements of this series, while some might look like humans, others completely not. But keep calm, the gore is always granted. Demons are cruel but they are not stupid. In fact I might say some of them are even more intelligent than some humans.
When I think of “Kimetsu no Yaiba”, some words come out: gore, demons, blades, pighead and terrible drawings. So yeah, let’s get straight to the selling point of the manga. I might not be the one who can judge, but hey, the art is terrible. If I had to say how bad it is, probably as bad as in Shingeki no Kyojin. I’m not saying that there’s not effort put in it, ‘cause I’m sure there is, but maybe the author’s strength might not be the drawing. Is that a good thing or a bad a thing? Subjective. You always have to look things to other points of view, personally I see it as a positive thing. It’s this incosistent line which gives its uniqueness to the manga. The problem I have with some shounen, is that the panels don’t tell you nothing, whereas in this book every panel is a festival of emotions, feelings and sweat put altogether in simple ink lines. It’s not something I noticed straight away, but with every chapter being released I found out why I couldn’t get my eyes off to the drawings. The uniqueness and the vibes this gives to you.
Oh boy, this is just hilarious. The characters. Honestly? As I said before when I think of KnY Some words come to my mind, one of which is “colors”. Koyoharu has done an outstanding job with the characters. They just give you the right vibes of how good can a character be written. Don’t get me wrong, characterization is not something very noticeable, but this might be one of the few cases where it’s not really needed. What I mean is, all the characters (even the support cast) have their own personality, and you can truly feel what they are going through and what they are feeling, even with some of the demons. This might be just me tho. So now don’t call me crazy, but Kimetsu no Yaiba, as I see it, is a very colorful manga. When I said that the author had done an excellent job with the characters this is what I wanted to say; every single character has its color, its vibe and its shape. Each MC never gets boring to read, the interactions they have with one another is something everyone should praise. So yeah, both humans and demons are memorable, as they are very unique on its own.
When it comes to enjoyment, Kimetsu no Yaiba always hypes you up, doesn’t waste time to get to the action, in fact I can’t think of more than 10 chapters for a break from the end of a battle to the beginning of a new one. Yes it is very fast paced, or better, it might have a questionable pace, but I’m guessing that the author wants to do what he loves the most, gets you excited for an awesome battle, and you can feel the all the love and effort he puts in the choreography of the scene, the dance of the characters. Of course, you can’t call a Shounen-battle manga a shounen-battle manga if it doesn’t have over-the-top action, blood from a single scratch, some sort of weird techniques and screamings. Kimetsu no yaiba is not by any meaning lower than big mangas like Naruto or one piece when it comes to fight scenes. I’m sorry they not might be 100 chapters-long but every battle has its story to tell, its characters to develop, its demons, and its setting (most of the time night). Other than fights and gore, the enjoyment of the manga is characterized by a cast which is pure fun to follow, so it never gets boring there.
Overall, Kimetsu no Yaiba is an hidden gem, sadly underrated, that takes you to a completely different kind of world in a historical horror setting with a unique cast, atmosphere and identity.
Hopefully you will give it a try, thanks for reading!

EDIT: COMPLETELY REWRITTEN (2021)
-INTRO:
Made in Abyss is a manga I often think about. I’m not talking about theories to solve the mysteries that belong to the world. I’m talking about the manga in itself. How did the author come up with such a powerful, engrossing, impactful, memorable and wonderful story. Everything about this manga is perfection. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes. Let me explain. Have you ever seen or read something, and as soon as you’re done with it, the only impression you have of it is “wow”. This is it, Made in Abyss is this and more. If
...
you’ve watched some of the interviews of the author, Tsukishi Akihito, even him is amazed with what he created. And I can’t help but agree with the fact that this manga is a one in a million experience you hardly will ever forget. Whether you liked the manga or not, Made in Abyss leaves a mark. In my old review I was almost upset at how underrated this manga was, and when I tell you that I’m truly happy that many more people saw the potential this story holds, I mean it. Let me explain and justify why this manga is the best in its category.
-STORY:
The abyss, a giant chasm. Brought to life thanks to countless creatures, wonderful places you’ll hear about, mysteries no one knows the answer to and a logic that belongs to the abyss and the abyss only. It’s no surprise that the unknown is something humankind doesn’t want to have deal with, and that’s why the first thing you will want to do is to explore all of it, to face with the unknown and to analyze it. Curiosity is the very essence of our species and the main protagonist Riko is the embodiment of it. We follow Riko in her journey, what she discovers, is what we discover. The adventure she feels, is the one we feel. The answers she’s looking for, are the ones we’re looking for. Made in Abyss is first and foremost an adventure manga. This doesn’t mean the adventure in the world of Orth, the city built surrounding the abyss, is all about exploring and nothing more. No, it’s much more than that. Every time I mention adventure, is not the superficial meaning of it, but it’s also the study of one self and what it means to deal with it. Being Made in Abyss mostly a character driven story, is really no use talking about the story alone without properly talking about the characters.
CHARACTERS:
The characters in Made in Abyss have always been a grip for many. The main issue for some people is Riko. Riko is a naive 9yo child that wants know more about the abyss and her supposedly dead mother who’s waiting for her at the end of the so called “netherworld”. The more Riko descends into the abyss, the more she discovers about things she didn’t know about herself. That’s exactly what makes Riko a controversial character for many. She is a seemingly bland and empty character who acts very childishly (and what a surprise, she’s a child!) that doesn’t seem learn nothing from her mistakes. That’s what most people think of her and that’s where all of them make wrong assumptions about her character. As I previously said, Riko is the very essence of curiosity and naivity, and that’s okay. She’s not supposed to be more than that. Riko IS the main plot of Made in Abyss, without her carelessness we would have probably stayed in Orth and never exploring the abyss. If you can’t understand that Riko is adventure itself, we’re are reading a different manga. We have then Reg, a robot, maybe a human, or maybe both, that Riko finds in approximately to Orth in the first layer. Reg, having lost all of his memories, decides to stick with Riko in her adventure. Reg is another character many people are not happy with. Let me tell you again why he’s another outstanding character in the series. While Rilo embodies the adventure, Reg embodies the mystery. Who’s Reg? Where did he come from? Is he a robot or a human? What is his relationship with Lyza? Why did he lose all of his memories? Reg is supposed to be the big question and the key to the whole plot. That’s what makes the character the story itself. The known (Riko) and the unknown (Reg) gets together to embark on a long journey to get the answers we want and to feel the adventure of out two little children. Or course, Made in Abyss has many more characters that embodies even more aspects of humankind. Nanachi is a character that give a meaning to a journey strictly related to death; what it means to lose an significant other and to move on. Ozen, the lost of sanity in order to keep adventuring no matter what. She tries to give us an explanation of why the abyss is so feared yet adored. Bondrewd embodies science. To give answers to some of the mysteries and questions we might have, through science Bondrewd tries to challenge the abyss and its curse. Science always come at a cost, and in this case it means sacrificing someone to reach our own goal. Also, we could discuss about him being one of the best antagonist ever. We’re also introduced to Faputa, the embodiment of value, another character similar to Nanachi, but also not. Faputa is another character goes through the stages of grief and loss, but unlike Nanachi, Faputa stops at the second stage (anger), and itms throughly explored with a very detailed and inner journey of oneself and all the psychological aspects. We have then Prushka, which I can’t discuss about for spoiler reasons and Vueko, another character, more similar to Riko. Vueko is more of an adult version of Riko. But on the contrary, she at some point gives up. Lastly, Wazukyan, one of the three sages. He’s a sacrifice himself, gives up everything for the abyss, and becomes part of it.
ART:
It’s no secret that Made in Abyss has one of the best arts in the whole manga world. On par with other authors such as Boichi, Inio Asano and Kentaro Miura, Tsukushi Akihito succeed with flying color in giving an identity for Made in Abyss. Each manga page is filled with life. The abstractness, the details, the imagination and the shades all come together to give life to the Abyss and its characters. It’s art that depicts both the beauty and the horror of the abyss. Characters designs are unique and memorable, the creatures are different from one another, the imagination seems to never end, and they never fail to feel cute and fluffy or horrifying and dangerous. There isn’t really much to say here, the drawings really speak for themselves. They are a feast for the eyes and should be a reason alone to give Made in Abyss a try.
ENJOYMENT:
Some people have got many issues and struggle to find a reason of why someone could enjoy Made in Abyss. This manga is not all about suffering and torture porn, it’s absolutely not about the sometimes questionable nudity scenes of underaged children and it’s not a story that doesn’t know what do with itself. The enjoyment directly comes from the story’s unpredictableness to the antagonists that aren’t really antagonist, to the charming character and the many mysteries of the abyss. It doesn’t really take much to give an answer to why would someone could enjoy Made in Abyss. Made in Abyss is in my opinion a one in a lifetime experience that no one should miss out. It is truly the wet dream of everyone who wants to go on an adventure that comes with stakes rewarded by beautiful sceneries and strong bonds. The suffering is just another fun part of the manga, but as I already said, it’s not just that. And agree ti disagree, as weird as the nudity is (and I want to point out that it’s not to be viewed in a sexual way), it really is another aspect to the identity that is Madd in Abyss and make a different kind of story from every other manga. Some might feel uncomfortable, but personally I don’t really care about it and I laugh at it at best. It really is nothing of importance that takes away from any of your enjoyment. If you find it an issue, then you’re probably the issue.
OVERALL:
Taking place in a lovecraftian-ish setting, this manga is not to be missed out. If you’re looking for a sci-fi fantasy adventure manga, Made in Abyss is straight up your ally being the best of the best in its category. Everything it does, is perfection and the author aims at that. I can’t help but agree with the fact that, in my opinion, Made in Abyss is modern classic that will be remembered for a very long time. Deserving all the praise it gets and more, I couldn’t recommend you a better manga.
Thanks for reading and I’m sorry for eventual grammar mistakes or weird phrasing order. Anyways, go read it.

I am not english, so i apologize if i make mistakes.
Gakkou Gurashi is surely not your typical Slice of Life anime. The first thing that you can think after seeing its genres will be: "Slice of Life + Horror? What's that troll?", and it's here that you are wrong, my friend; Gurashi Gakkou is probably the second anime (Puella Magi Madoka Magica the first one) that manages to use 2 genres completely different so well. It could be called Slice of Horror. The new generation of anime has begun! ╰༼=ಠਊಠ=༽╯
That is why i like this anime so much, unique genres and characters. Don't get fooled
...
by the first 20 minutes of the anime, You will see only a group of girls who live at school and look for a dog dispersed in the school with moe moments/reactions, In any case i definitely do not recommend dropping the anime before the real story starts (at the end of the first episode you'll understand what i am talking about).
Go to watch the first episode because from now on there will be spoilers.
-Story: 9/10
The story of the anime is great. The first thing you notice is this "School-living club", and here comes the mindfuck. The main character is mentally unstable, does not see what she has in front of her eyes. The anime is set in a post-apocalyptic world, oh wait, most of the characters "are" in a post-apocalypric world, Our Yuki is in a world friendly with her, where all are her friends and the school is perfectly normal. Obviously nothing of what she sees is true, yes, the school is surrounded by zombies. Here starts the adventures of our protagonists in a cruel world, Where errors are not allowed, only courage. Obviously, there's some mystery here and there that makes the anime more interesting.
-Art: 8/10
Not a lot to say here. The art is great, it works very well with the atmosphere of the anime. It's moe when there's the Slice of Life and scary when the horror scenes arrive. The zombies have a unique art, seem to be more shadows than zombies sometimes, but don't worry, there is a reason
Tho the animation is not really great, just normal. It has a lot of issues, and you can see the frames sometimes but it doesn't matter, because it fits perfectly with the anime's atmosphere. Don't expect something Ufotable-like animation, Lerche had 3 shows this season so you can imagine...
-Sound: 10/10
Absolutely perfect. The OST fits perfectly with the anime. Outstanding in the horror moment, it's not your usual sound that you hear. The OP sequence is genial, cheerful music with zombies in the background, you don't see it everyday (i think). The ED sequence is more quiet, it could have been better, i don't deny it. The OST...reminds me sometimes a film, really great the concept, what you are watching: an anime; what you are hearing: a soundtrack of a film. It does a great job again because it shows the state of mind of the protagonist. It makes you feel anxious, happy, etc...
-Character: 10/10
This group of girls is perfect. There's the leader "Yuuri" that thinks about cooking, giving orders And the remaining resources, she has some interesting clothes that she puts on the uniform. Then there's the courageous "Kurumi" that kills zombies and rescues her friends. There's the quiet "Miki" that loves reading post-apocalyptic stories (especially of Stephen King), why not? And lastly we have our cheerful Yuki that lives in her world. Then there's Taroumaru...Taroumaru is a dog who cheers up the girls, play with them and has a great development with Yuki and Kurumi. He is not a character that you will love for sure but i think i like him...
Oh wait! how could i forget about Megu-nee! i-i mean, Sakura-sensei. She is the closest person to Yuki and a good teacher that gives advices to students. Megu-nee is a character that everyone love.
-Enjoyment: 8/10
Fun and cute moments followed by scary moments. Even if there are zombies, in a dead city, this show sometimes makes you forget there are all these scary things, because nothing is better than a good comedy. IMO, the comedy/moeblob doesn't have always a good tempism, but...Oh well, in poor words, you'll have fun watching this show.
-Overall: 9/10
If you like Slice of Life, go to watch it, if you like Zombies and mysterious circumstances go to watch it, if you like both, why are you reading this review? Run! You will not regret watching this show. Gakkou Gurashi is an anime that has a new whole concept of a post-apocalyptic world.
This show makes you smile and scares you at the same time, unique setting, don't you find it unique? I do.
I am definitely enjoying Gakkou Gurashi a lot. AOTS (summer 2015) IMO.
I hope you found this review helpful 〜(^∇^〜)

I am not english, so i apologize if i make mistakes.
ʕ•̫͡•ʔ♡ʕ•̫͡•ʔ Yuri Kuma Arashi. I bet your first impression of this show has not been nice. Bears ʕ ☯ ڡ ☯ ʔ, invisible storm and Yuri, this is what you'll get from the first three episodes and probably even at the end of the series, Why? Because you didn't pay attention to the Yuri elements, dialogue, characters and especially to the symbolism (or you were just too lazy to find explanations on the web ʕ – ▃ – ʔ ). But what is Yuri Kuma Arashi about? Symbolism, love and drama. If you don't
...
like symbolism stuff, just ignore this Anime, you will get confusion without explanations from the first second to the last one. Since i loved Yuri Kuma Arashi and everything related to the symbolism, weird stuff, ecc...i wanted to write a review.
Go to watch the first half of this show because from now there will be spoilers.
-Story: 9/10
Plot: Revenge > Shoot > Court > Bears > Death > Revenge > Shoot > Ecc... > (இ(エ)இ`)
well, if you think "nonsense" is what the show is about you started watching this in the wrong way. forget what you've watched. The story of this show is 50% concrete and 50% abstract. Everything has a meaning. The bears, the flowers, everything. This is what makes the story interesting, because it's you that reformulate Yuri Kuma Arashi, not the Studio, the Director or the Writers, but you. This was the 50% abstract story ヾ(;→㉨←)ノ. Now that you got what you have to do everything will become more clear. The flowers mean love and desperation, the Bears mean the wild love and are who doesn't want to hide her/his true nature, the Wall are who doesn't accept with the gay love and creates a "wall" between Her/Him and a gay person, The "battles" mean...ecc...
I can understand that you are too lazy to interact with the show, in fact, if you are not in the symbolism just ignore Yuri Kuma Arashi. ヾ(T(エ)Tヽ)
-Art: 10/10
The background are abstract, the colo(u)rs fit perfectly with the show's atmosphere. Dark art when it has to be and colorful with the flashbacks. Simply the art tells us what is the show, nothing too cheerful nor too "dead". I am sure that the backgrounds, colors, ecc...have a meaning but i don't know what meaning lol ┐(´(エ)`)┌
In poor words, the Art is outstanding, beautiful and unique.
-Sound: 10/10
Easily one of the best OSTs used in a show i've ever heard in my life of anime watcher. Yuri Kuma has unique OSTs that will make you both laugh or cry. Them emphasize the situation in a dramatic way or funny one. Sometimes there's electro too (ó㉨ò)ノ♡ If you are looking for good OSTs then watch this show.
-Character: 9/10
What is trying to say YKA with the aggressive encounters on the rooftop each week's episode at the beginning of the show, well, if you don't know it, it's telling us the feelings of the human being. Jealousy, anger, revenge, ecc... each character in the show has a meaning, surprised? lol
( ´ิ(ꈊ) ´ิ) The characters have not a cliché personality at all, not unique but surely different from some shows. We can say that are more interesting than funny.
-Enjoyment: 10/10
Yuri Kuma Arashi in itself is not a comedy, what will probably make you laugh are the elements of the show. "Shoooock, KUMA SHOCK!", "Shabadado" "Gao, Gao!" ecc... Loved the catch-phrases of this show ꒰♥︎꒱ઽᵘᵏⁱ♡ৎˊ͈ˣੰૢˋ͈ॢॽ∗。 i am sure you will love them too. They will never annoy you if you are enjoying the show.
-Overall: 10/10
Outstanding, from each point of view. Warning: This show is absolutely not for everyone if you like the symbolism, bears and Yuri. Be careful to everything while you are watching this anime and enjoy the weird world of Yuri Kuma Arashi!
