This has got to be one of my all-time favorite animes. First off, the music is really good. I asked myself "dang what song is that?" nearly every episode as I watched it. The art design is also superb. I think it's one of the most well drawn animes I have seen. It has a dark and gritty style to it, rather than a light and colorful one and this really adds to the atmosphere.

The story and characters are what make this anime, though. From the very first episode I was hooked. The episodes are enthralling and will keep you interested through the whole ep ... and then leave you wondering what is going to happen so you just have to watch the next one. I had to set daily limits on how many episodes I watched in a day otherwise I would have blown through the whole series all at once and since it is so short I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

The only problem I have with it, is that it is so short, only 13 episodes. I think that they could have extended it to 20 or 24 to fill in a little more of the backstory. I remember at one point, one of the characters is riding in a car with a guy then he drops her off. As he drives off his car suddenly explodes. I never really understood why that happened and it was never explained. The show leaves a lot unexplained but I think it did that intentionally so as not to include much filler.

Overall, if you like vampires or dark-theme anime, Hellsing is a MUST watch.
