Bear with me as this is my first review. The anime started off being fairly interesting. A kid wakes up and doesn't know where he is and out of the blue, he has to fight this chick who tells him that he's an assassin and he has to follow the orders of this organization called Inferno. All is well until the anime tries to do too much with what it has and begins to trip on its heels fall on on its face.
A few plot twists here and there are great but if they're going to be in an anime, it has to flow smoothly

with the entire anime. In Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom you have a great plot with great potential. Two assassins carry out orders for Inferno, but at the midway point of the anime where there are twists after attempted twists, for me, the anime lost its appeal. After a plot twist, there should be a nice smooth transition with the rest of the story building off of the twist. P:RftP gets the twist part right, but the transition is choppy and doesn't sit well with me.
The flow issue might have to do with the characters and their rigidity. The MC, Dwei/ Phantom/ Azuma Reiji (He's got multiple names/Titles) is your typical MC who follows orders but deep down, killing people is chipping away at his humanity, His boss, the blonde and busty girl, Claudia has an interesting role, but around the midpoint of the anime, there's a twist that seems a little inconsistent with the rest of the anime.
Animation is decent but could be better for a 2009 anime.
The sound was good and had some interesting parts throughout the anime. The second OP was particularly interesting.
Did I enjoy it? For the first half, it was somewhat enjoyable but at about halfway, I started to lose interest and began to nitpick at everything, which explains why my rating is kinda low.
Overall, I give it a 5. MAL calls 6 "fine" and 4 "bad". Since I thought it was neither fine because of the little things, but it didn't qualify as bad because the story was actually pretty good. It was the execution that didn't agree with me and that basically explains my rating.
