Oh boy! It's a Attack on Titan (dere it iz!), new season and the last one. It maybe only 7 episodes thus far (from when I write this), but dude it's fantastic.
The Final Season starts-off with an interesting parallel to the first season of AoT. Showing the audience Meriyan life with child leads, just like Eren, Armin and Mikasa, helping you to understand the insanity of this world. Forming into a slow burning build, to a monstrous explosive *BOOOM*—then the shit smashes the fan!
MAPPA takes up the reins for this seasons production, and they've done a great job, contrary to what some may believe.
...
In terms of storytelling and the scene selection from the manga it's all top notch! With that said though, one of the major issues in-my-opinion is the pacing. It's speeding through a lot in such a short amount time, not letting somethings simmer or to build-up atmosphere, but I was expecting that since it's a 16 episode season rather than the 24 I was hoping for (I read the manga, hehe).
One of the other issues I had with the anime, was the editing and placement of the OST. It always seemed to be a little off tempo, especially in comparison to the animation. Personally, I think that might be due to the grandiosity of its composition. Though, the music separately, I absolutely love, that demonic sounding choir is just sex for my ears! <3
At this point, I'm waiting for the character progression of the main leads; Eren, Mikasa and Armin. I think it's going to be a lotta fun and the ride will be orgasmic!
With this quickly done, if I had to give a 1/10 scoring, it'd probably fall under a solid 8/10! It's definitely a must watch—even it does have some titanic haters on the Twitters.

Okay admittedly, I never thought I'd actually enjoy this series as Japanese humor can be pretty hit and miss with me. How wrong was past me for thinking that and leaving it for years before actually watching it. God am I loser...!
The fourth wall breaking, or should I type, pulverises the wall into a find dust! Seriously, from the premise, which is a that aliens invaded Earth during Edo/Sengoku Era. So now you have Samurai watching TV and playing video games...different. I suppose that's the word which describes Gintama the best: Different. With that though, they're some more serious parts of plot which is revealed
...
piece by piece. Just FYI, I haven't seen the entirety of the series so I don't really know where it's going.
From there, I'm going to keep it short, since I have watched all of it. Yet, what I've seen I really, and I mean really enjoyed what's here! I give it an 8/10. ...For now.

Hand Shakers or as I call it, "Aw Gawd My Eyes", is perhaps one of the worst produced and directed anime I've ever seen. From the ever moving 'chains' and 'dub-wub' noises, just makes me go, "which boomer thought it would be cool to do this shit?"
...Anyway, I will admit it's been a few years since I've seen Hand Shaker, but what I remember is:
1) The story? What's it even about? Or is it about anything? ...You know, maybe if it's my brain refusing to intake any information from this hellish shit-show of an anime, so it doesn't lead to a comatose Wxku_shi...!?
2) Oh
...
Me GAWD, my eyes be burning! ...And the artstyle is horrible to look at, with no set direction and relying on the comfortable commercial tropes with artistically bankrupt concepts placed front and center in the middle (with the character designs) in the work...
...and (3) Yet I watched the series from beginning to end, just to see how much more fucked-up the visuals and more ridiculous the anime and it's writers gets.
Overall this is a awful anime, that you should definitely watch, but watch with some sunglasses and a few alcoholic beverages! It's soo fascinating to watch in just how wrong they got it in almost every corner of the anime. From the visuals, writing and hell, even the Japanese dub. Along I give it a 1/10, with a group of friends and a little help I give it a 10/10!

Before I really get into things, if you're not really into the 'Slice-of-life' genre this series is probably not going to be something you enjoy as much as I did, yet I highly suggest you at least give the anime a try!
Firstly, episode one is perhaps one of the greatest directed starter, anime episodes out-there, in this humble ones opinion anyways...
I suppose it's hard to talk about story since this is a slice-of-life anime, so I'm going to keep it simple and say or 'type', it's an experience of a boy's life as he reacts to the past in the present i.e. being a deep
...
depression. Doing so while continuing his career as a Shogi player. Overcoming his rivals, I personally never really felt the anime was concentrating fully on these elements of story. The character development and progression is the focus of the anime as a whole.
Going back to what I was saying before, episode one is great, as it gives you a good feel of what the series as a whole is going be and even some of the themes; loss and gain, and the great game of life. Shogi is used as the representation for this, as the lead MC Rei Kiriyama stumbles through both his matches and through life. And like the Shogi matches, the victories are sometimes small but great as Rei opens-up to the Kawamoto family and his adopted family (primarily three girls; Hinata, Akari and Momo), healing step-by-step.
Overall, I seriously enjoyed March Comes In Like A Lion with strong themes and character based storytelling. I give a 9/10, it's closer to a 8 than a 10.

To any of those who've read or are reading manga, keep to reading the manga. The anime adaptation fall flat and short on capturing the overall themes the source material held in the original source. Which I may add, wasn't that great a series when it comes to other manga which tackle this very idea, OP hero character.
The story follows Hajime Nagumo, an "average" dude who is whisked away to another world, alongside his entire classroom. After subsequently splitting from his classmates, he is forced to survive a deep labyrinth of demons and beasts. Personally, this was the manga's strength, but in the anime they
...
completely speed through it. Hacking away many of the clashing concepts of the traditional Isekai cliches, i.e. being transported to a medieval, fantasy, RPG-like world. The manga used the reality of Hajime's situation for world building and character progression, yet the anime adaptation was more interested in getting to those 'traditional Isekai cliches' as quickly as possible. Meandering through to each plot-point, slowly etching closer and closer to those bloody-awful comfy, commercial cliches. Meanwhile, in trying to remain "cool" (in design and personality), the new Hajime goes from interesting to 'meh'...just like the music. Which is very forgettable...? At least it was dubbed pretty well.
Overall, I seriously found it a gruelling sit-through and was the perfect 'background' anime to put on while doing something else. I give it 4/10 (it's closer to a 3 than a five).

Initially, when the hype train was in full effect, I stood back and ignored all the "normies" telling me how good it was. Boy, those normies were right! The first season of Attack on Titan ("AoT") is an anime often described as "a roller coaster of emotions", and their definitely right about that! Who's think a tale of titans, gobbling up child soldiers could be soo...thrilling...? Yeah that sounded pretty bad!
Anyways, that roller coast I was talking about early, the first arc is one giant roller coaster, from its start to its finish, and even a few twists here and there, with many ups and
...
downs, which just destroy your level of hope for the characters. I will say however, it could grow a little tiresome after a few episodes, if you're not into those type of stories. Yet for me, it never really hurt my enjoyment. In fact in many ways, it only enhanced my experience, as I started to understand more and more how some of the characters may have been feeling.
The second arc is something different entirely. Some might say this hurts the overall flow of the narrative and story, but I completely disagree. It gives the characters, primarily the main lead Eren Jager, the motivation to move forward. In doing so, Eren begins to understand how futile that desire for vengeance actually is, as he slowly turns from the "Protagonist of Narrative", and becomes the "Slave to the Narrative", following along the "Bird in a Cage" theme from the beginning to the ending. The change of scenery (the woodlands) is welcomed; showing just how dangerous it is outside the walls and adding more questions and surprises for an already eager audience, now with more reason to keep on watching (including future seasons or even the manga).
Unlike Eren, who I think is meant to be somewhat a 2-dimensional character, some of the other main characters, I found annoying or just plain boring! Mikasa is one of those people, she's a bland OP character created for commercial purposes of 'coolness' or 'eye-candy', rather than exploring a type of MC in anime/manga! If she were, it went WAY over my head. Another problem I had with AoT was the pacing, each episode either speed through too much plot or slowed it way~ down for exposition or chatter.
Rapid fire: The art, man Isayama-sensei, sometimes you're art sucks! Studio Wix did a good job in (keeping the style) cleaning it up, and making it the look good, doing a great job with the colors and lighting, and they did an excellent job with cinematography and animation, but some character designs were just straight-up ugly! Also, Hiroyuki Sawano's soundtrack is just perfect in every scene. It fits perfectly, and to those who know anything about anime production, that's no easy task!
Overall, I enjoyed it. It's not exactly perfect but if it's anything like manga, it just get's better and better from here-on-out. I give it a 7/10 (it's closer to an 8/10 than a 6/10).
Thank you.

What can I say, another anime with a unique premise that jumps happily and quickly on the harem band-wagon...enough said... Seriously, once you get past the gimmick, their isn't much else here.
The anime has strongly written dialogue but that strength is used poorly, covering up the major holes of lack-luster plot, uninteresting or poorly utilized characters and themes which rely sourly on the interesting concepts.
Honestly, if you want something similar, I recommend something like Hyouka, sure the dialogue isn't well written but the story and characters are much more engaging. Another, to a lesser extent, Kokoro Connect, good premise(s), engaging characters in a somewhat
...
clear and comprehensive plot.

Say what you will about Neon Genesis Evangelion (NGE), love it or hate it. I doubt anyone can deny its impact and importance to the both the industry of anime and manga as well the Otaku culture. Almost all the recognizable tropes of today's anime, manga and light novels have it inspired by it. Which saddens me because it's probably the furthest thing away from those trope ridden anime and manga titles.
I've always seen NGE as form of art rather than a piece of entertainment. In truth, NGE is pretty bad when it comes to what some (and I) class as entertaining anime series',
...
as most are generally marked by 4 different points:
1) Story: A narrative constructed by a beginning, middle and end. Helping to develop the characters and the world through these sectioned elements.
2) World Building: The world helps to thicken the story, making it more interesting to explore alongside the characters or the narrative.
3) Characters: Who assist wrapping the story and world together. Impacting the plot and changing the world to make what's presented more believable.
4) Themes: These are generally used to highlight specific plot points, significant world building points and characters development in connection with one another.
With NGE, these four components aren't all present here. Really only two of are; "Characters" and "Themes". Each connect in the creation of a "World" and a "Story" for the themes to exist along with the characters.
The psychoanalytic perspectives of the characters become the new backbone of the anime. What else becomes evident at this point is the source material, the self-assessments of NGE's director and creator, Hideaki Anno, who used his own depression as a base; failure, depression, destruction, hatred, suicide and death. Anno uses these very themes to create a visual merging of characters, world and plot.
Focusing more on the characters; Shinji, Asuka, Masato, Gendo and Rei. with their emotions, thoughts and back-stories all being presented with the themes (the ones previously mentioned above) in mind. Alongside two persistent themes, loss. How they deal or have dealt with this loss, and the other, to what entity they lost those people to; the Angels i.e. God. Circling back to the components of story to world building, characters to themes.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is NOT an entertaining anime, it IS however an experience. One which makes you think about your own worth and being. Creating different experiences through what you see and find in the themes of the anime through each sit. It might not be for everyone but I do highly recommend it to everyone. Just like; Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun and Akira are recommended to new people to anime, I want NGE added to that list.

One of the best ways to describe this year of 2018 for anime is with this very title, "Goblin Slayer". A series which started with such a smack, it ruptured the guts of the anime community. Before then slowly abseiling off the metaphorical cliff to the comfortable cliches below. Such a huge disappointment, but I feel that's been most of this year in terms of anime. Good starting series' only to start pissing me off half way through by showing their reliance on old tired tropes. It makes me wonder; "why are am I watching this?" Goblin Slayer isn't that bad a experience however it
...
does point out this underlying problem. Anime nowadays is all about making that 'all important' CASH, MONEY!
In episode 4 the themes and characters begin to get stagnant as the story takes a lengthy detour, hoping to elongate the mystery of the Goblin Slayer and who he is. After introducing very 1 dimensional characters, placed into a newly, disconnected plot. Why? Why is this now ha- Oh...to fill up time so the audience doesn't ask to many questions before becoming disinterested in the plot because your not going to give them any answer and are hoping to make more money in a season 2... *Gasp* Guess that makes sense.
Anyway, by episode 6 I start getting bored with this lacking and disinterested story and main lead, GOBLIN SLAYER! Who's seriously starting to become annoying at this point, generally caused by his overly calm demeanor which at first is intriguingly presented but by episode 6, I could care less, just like GOOOBLAM SALUR!. Which is why this "new" plot hurts the flow of the anime. Nothing seems to change and appears to have one purpose; to lengthen that answer to that question of who the Goblin Slayer is. By the time they start giving us (or me) a little more to chew on, its already episode 8! Eight!? Not 4 or 5 or even 6, but 8? This dangling of a carrot has been in front of me for the whole narrative journey, and anytime I show interest, that metaphorical carrot gets moved, yet again!
Even-though I hate the flow of the narrative and its lack of progression, I hate lazy writing and I hate the bland characters. Still, I'm going to continue watching to see how it finishes. Maybe I'm hoping to have some of questions answered or perhaps I just want to give credence to why I didn't really like it.

Shirobako is one of those anime series' that puts the "life" into the "Slice-of-life" genre.
The 24 episode series follows the working lives of several characters of an anime studio, Musashino Animation, through the eyes of its lead, Aoi Miyamori. A young producer learning (along with the viewer) the ropes of the anime industry and animation production. This is the overall strength of Shirobako, showing the difficulties of sharp deadlines, re-writes, competition and production restraint and how it effects everyone at the studio.
The characters of Shirobako are great; their personalities help them to be easily distinguished and their interactions with each other is realistic and
...
yet highly entertaining. Plus, what I found really interesting was seeing where these people were in their careers and how they've been shaped by the industry and how they see their work. It's really engaging and rewarding to witness, helping you care more about them and the story being told
One the negatives I found with this show is how the length begins to hurt the story of the anime, as it begins to follow some overdone tropes i.e. "will the 'anime' make it in time to TV". Even so, the way it's executed helps to make feel fresher than when other series.
Overall; I really enjoyed this anime and it's become my go-to anime when I want to relax (not really sure why) and I highly recommend it, especially to any who's interested in animation or wants to get-into the industry.
Recommendation(s): "Bakuman" and/or "Sakura Quest" and/or "Genshiken".
