It starts with a guy who thinks he's completely normal. And it reminds me a bit of your name. I never read the light novel of your name or manga or anything but it gave the exact same vibe. It's a guy with a friend who's just his shallow friend. Then he sees this girl, this classmate. And ofcourse you already know they're gonna become closer with eachother. There's a supernatural part in it with the tunnel
A big theme of this light novel was time. It's about time and it has multiple big lines in it about time. One of the big ones was about
...
time. On the one hand you have Kaoru looking back in time, wishing to get back the time he had. And for that he wants to get into the tunnel. And he doesn't really hesitate because he frankly doesn't feel he has much to lose. Ofcourse there's Anyu, but he since he's been wanting his little sister back so bad he still wants to go inside the tunnel
I think the way in the first part Anyu & Kaoru's chemistry is, is really interesting. I love when there's a romance that's subtle. It all starts with Kaoru breaking up a fight with Anyu and Koharu. Then Anyu just happens to follow Kaoru and she wants to work together to go into the tunnel. And they work together then there's a time skip. And the author did it really sneaky by not really showing anything different between them, but they have Kaoru's friend Shouhei comment how he thinks they're a couple and they both don't really mind it, so yeah they're now a couple all of a sudden while not really much changed between them
The tunnel is really interesting with Kaoru how he keeps going there. He meets his sister and eventually realizes this isn't real. How he needs to move forward. And that sort of line has been a recurring theme throughout the entire novel. What was the most interesting is when he walked through the tunnel and was like 'no I already went this far I can't go back now'
It's not the most complicated novel in the least. The characters aren't very complex. Especially Anyu isn't, she likes writing manga then becomes a manga author. She looks up to Kaoru then realizes she likes him then abandons everything to go into that tunnel with him
What did speak to me was the gradualness of the novel. I could really feel the passion of the author written through this book. The ideas he gave and how Kaoru's journey went written through the pen of the author as he came to choose what he did.
> "at the end of the day, there's no one right way to live our lives. All we can do is pick whatever path suits us best, then run dwon it as fast as we can to see how far we can get in what little time we have"
That's the main theme of the book and I think the author did a great job in conveying that

They describe the sakurasou group as delinquents, losers. But I don't think 'a group of delinquents' fits these people at all. If I had to summarize them, I would say they're instead all hopeful teenagers with dreams. They all came to sakura-sou with a past that's behind them, they all have a reason of being there and their own dreams. But they're also all a bunch of irresponsible teenagers
While at first glance it might seem like a goofy atmosphere, the characters all have their own goals and feelings. And since they're of both genders, it's only reasonable there's gonna be love drama. But it's not
...
just the usual love triangle you see. The romance in this anime is more subtle and often happens in the background
What did piss me off a little was the main girl, Mashiro, who is implied mentally retarded to the point she can't even do normal things. But on the other hand it's what makes the story good. She's the one that on the one hand needs the most care and has the biggest problems, but on the other hand she's the one that's really made it opposed to the others in the sakura-sou
And Nanami's voice was really cute. I loved her the most. Checked the voice actress and was surprised she isn't in more anime
Bit of an open ending at the end tho I'm not sure I liked that. But it didn't ruin the anime at all

The most notable thing from this one is the vibes. The art style and sound choices reminded me of Kuzu no Honkai. The story is the complete opposite of it, but they both did this amazing thing you don't see often in anime. Normallly anime rely on music to get across the emotions, but in this one they didn't. They had a lot of scenes in complete silence. To do that you need everything else to be even better to not make it bad, and they definitely managed to do that
Also it makes the story feel very real. They don't have stupid high school stuff
...
and the conversations they have do have a small element of awkwardness to it between the pauses. Or well awkwardness doesn't really describe it, more like it feels as if the lines aren't read from a paper sheet and thought about, like a real conversation

Giji Harem is really just one of those 1-on-1 romance anime I guess you could call it. It reminds me a little of Insomniacs after School. It's a guy and a girl that meet eachother, go into high school and eventually even go to college in the second half of the season. And the special thing is the girl here who plays a lot of anime stereotypes
I liked it at the start. And it still does have some moments later on. It's just funny to watch the girl, Rin, play out all these stereotypes. The voice actress did a really good job portraying all these
...
different girls. And watching them in high school was great to see. The problem is I think once they go out of high school the story loses a part of it. Pretty much every romance anime has his problem, and that's why most end when the couple graduates or even before. But this one didn't do that and that made it kinda... boring I guess? They still did manage to have a few good moments like when Nakamura visited Rin's house, I liked that episode. And compared to others that had the same thing with still going past high school, it did it well. But even so I think it got less interesting without the school environment & drama club

It was a good premise and I liked the first few episodes. So the premise here is there's this group of 2 guys & 3 girls and this new guy comes into class. Then our MC Naho gets a letter from her future self this new guy Kakeru is gonna turn down his own power button after a few months and she gets instructions on what to do to resolve the whole thing
So they build this up as a huge thing, but the execution was not that well. I enjoyed the first half of the anime, but they made some decisions midway through that made
...
the anime kinda... boring I think. That's not a spoiler probably
I also really didn't like Kakeru he was such a whiny boy. And I get he's supposed to be that way and weak mentally, but it was just frustrating. Having said that I did like the way they kinda forced things to happen in the plot by saying it had to happen in the letter making Naho have to be better
Chemistry between the group and the moments weren't that fun, I didn't particularly like the group of 6 that much
Still it wasn't that bad to drop it, it was still pretty good. Just I watched better things with a similar-ish vibe

One of the least interesting isekai I've seen in a while. It does have 2 people getting isekai'd instead of one, but the girl that goes along, Rin, is a background character too
- Like I said, characters were very boring 3/10
- Music was average & art was average 5/10
- The plot wasn't that interesting either, just like the world 5/10
- The magic system is kinda interesting 7/10
Biggest problem here is, like I graded, the characters. What makes me want to watch an isekai is an interesting character coming into contact with an interesting world. And this one just doesn't have either of them

It's a great isekai. The MC is overpowered but doesn't show his powers. It's very similar to eminence in the shadow in aspects. Only this guy has a little sister that knows about him and is uhm... a bit too attached to him.
The world and its' systems is clearly worse tho. It's quite simple, including the backstory
The characters are funny and the stakes don't feel that high, although that will probably change in season 2
The MC is pretty good I think. He doesn't feel too generic.
Also something I value a lot: they didn't rush through the material. It felt like they went through it on
...
a normal pace.
The things that happen to the MC are also great. It doesn't feel boring like nothing's happening after a while like most isekai.
It's a good isekai. Wouldn't put it between Mushoku and Eminence, but I enjoyed it a lot
7/10

I read the first 5 volumes, 105 chapters in total. And I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting some huge drama. Something to happen that would make it interesting, but it didn't really.
It starts off with this kind of interesting concept of an organized marriage and stuff. And the first scene is a kiss scene, so you think it'll probably be mature and the characters won't be.. idk what to call it... but I guess innocent? naïve? purely goodwilled? But... once the MC gets his planned partner they all become friends. And that in itself isn't bad, but the girls don't really stand up
...
for themselves. And that turns it into a harem, instead of a romance drama.
And every now and then something a little dramatic happens. And there are moments where they don't see eachother or where they don't text eachother for a long time. But besides saying that off-screen they still have good times. I did read 105 chapters of it after all (although most chapters are under 10 pages), so it's not *that* bad. Just a problem that I was waiting for something to spice it up in a way that wasn't happening.
Anyway, if you don't mind a love triangle with a bit of a bland protagonist and want to see him having drama with the girls, you could like it. But if you're looking for something more mature, I wouldn't read this.
