Read this because it was available at my school's library, this is legitimately one of the worst sci-fi manga I've ever read.

I don't understand why this has such a high average here, the characters are all annoying, the story is ungodly edgy and each scene meanders on too long.
For example:basically in the first chapter of this manga, the deuteragonist is convulsing in a pool of her own vomit on the floor, while her classmates watch on and laugh. Its implied that THE ONLY reason they even dislike her is because of this very condition where she convulses when she has ... visions or whatever.
The first antagonist introduced is a kid who wants to commit genocide and start an empire for basically no reason other than it being a cookie cutter villain modus, and in an odd moment of levity, his own allies disagree with his plan.

At the very least, it could've delivered some interestingly choreographed fight and traversal scenes, but a lot of the monsters just function exactly like the real life object they are imitating.

The most enjoyable thing about the entire manga is just the monster designs, honestly. This just seems to be riding on the hype of "children surrounded by death" media, but where Evangelion uses tragedy to explore character bonds, Danganronpa explores social survival tactics and even something like Gleipnir provides an interesting alternate world, this is just trashy.

Every time the word 'facade' was said I wanted to shoot myself, this social gold-diggery is not entertaining.

The story focuses on a girl who get's tricked into working at a maid cafe. A cafe with the gimmick of being in the fictional universe of a school's cafe, they have fake identities and senpai-kouhai relationships. Which, the management end of the manga was interesting, but the dramatic writing of the characters is beyond bland. The protagonist, who I've shed her name from my memory, is completely unlikable, and the likable character's barely have any screentime.
I can't recommend for anyone who's here for any charming ... character interactions, because nearly every interaction is met with "this is all for my facade, I'm THIS close to being the most popular"
