I don't what I expected but overall it was fun, stupid but fun. The characters are silly, overexaggerated , and the rap battles themselves make me curl up into a bowl and laugh my guts out but I got to say I had fun. I couldn't take any of the battles seriously but if you don't mind laughing at the absurdity of an anime , this is the one for you.
In terms of story, a lot of mysteries are left unsolved, and the past histories are still barely touched on. Also that last fight 12 people v. 3 talk about unfair, and the opponents
...
didn't even have a chance to fight back. I also wish they explained more in depth about the skills, how they synergize and work with each other. What are the requirements to gain a skill? Are multiple skills possible, etc. The idea of skills gave it a more tactical approach, but the show just mentioned skills then completely forgot about the explanation.
Certain raps and songs, like the op, ed, the Ichiro only one, the secret aliens, one in ep 12, are super good and I would honestly love to buy a copy of those songs. The others are also great but not my taste. Overall the animations to match the raps are absurd and funny. The raps appear to give a physical representation on how the words are hurting the opponents, but half the time the words are utter nonsense, and seeing the opponents fall on their ass makes me laugh, like really, you're hurt by this...really?!
Outside of the raps the art is fairly average, as well as animation. So...yeah.
The large cast is interesting but there's not enough time for me to actually know the characters and their dynamics well as I wish I could, but the show did the best it could with the amount of time it had. When ever the groups mesh its a million times more interesting then when they're off by themselves. The only individual group episode I liked was Matenro's. The comedic timing on that episode was on point!
The show was fun and funny. It genuinely brought tears to my eyes , with its absolute absurdity. Sometimes it was slow and the conflict was boring but the characters are what makes this anime worthwhile. If you have time, and need a good laugh. I think it's worth watching!
TLDR: This anime is stupid fun!(Note) Don't expect anything more than that.

The hardships and pitfalls of each group is unique to its members, and helps in developing the characters growth. The choice of plays for each group suits each
groups' personality and the plays themselves are quite fun. Sometimes the interaction between characters are slightly on the boring side, and sometimes the conflicts slows the pace of the show so much so that I skim through much of the episode. I'll say this though, the entire show is easily digestible for anime only watchers while leaving hints and sweet kisses to those who play the games as well. My gripe would have to be how
...
former troupes are used fairly unsuccessfully within the current arc. There are exceptions to the rule, but it feels like at the end of every 6 episode , new game plus. Outside of that the animation, designs and music are standard(I think the OP is catchy but nothing overwhelmingly beautiful). It's a fun show that fills time and it's lighthearted nature makes it very easy to invest in. I wouldn't mind another season or two, in fact I'd look forward to it!!
TLDR: The story is sweet, the characters are loveable, sometimes the pacing is slow, and everything isn't as cohesive as it should be but it's without a doubt good!

I’ll be brief... everything was oh so joyful. The character growth was beautiful, the friendships, and relationships being one of this show’s greatest strongest points along with a believable/relastic plot. I only give it an 8 though for getting my hopes up with it’s cliff hangers (like ep 14/start of ep 15( I mean there’s no way he did it it but the fact it was the cliffhanger made me think otherwise and actually fall for the trick. Even though it turned heartwarming, I can’t help feel disappointed because if the twist followed through it’d be more interesting)). Also the zero mystery too obvious. Sometime
...
the art was a little off but outside of that it was overwhelmingly enjoyable, especially if you’re into cute boys with personalities and depths running towards their dreams! I’d also like to say the addition of revale makes this season much better than the last. I can’t wait for season 3!!!!

I have a strong bias and that's that I could never come to like the main character, because of that the events that followed were never all that inspiring or moving to me. And I think above all else the amount of destruction and blood spilt was too much for me, because most of it that was spilt felt like it was spilt with little purpose.
The story was imaginative, it was creative, but there was too much, and the motivations for some of the characters felt flimsy. Cutthroat, Doctor, the Executioners, even Courier. In the end<Spoiler> They all die, die to save two
...
random children that really change nothing in the grand scheme of things. The previous statement might be callous, but I can't help but think for their freedom how many people died and suffered just so they can live, it doesn't help that they seemed unlikable(at least to me).
The action is fluid and the music hits very well. The art is clean and is visually pleasing. It's not hard to see, though I wish it was uncensored but what can you do? My grievances come from my own personal biases that the blood shed was not worth it.. Though from an outside perspective the show's only fault would be that the story is rushed and many interesting characters/plot points left undeveloped. To make up for that point there was quite a bit of exposition dumping.
So if I didn't have a bias I'd give it an 8, but I do so a 7. The messages that the story wanted to send were clear , but the means it took to get their were stomach turning. I just can't be happy with it.
TLDR; Has all the elements I would like, but still not my cup of tea

The one thing that stands out the most in the anime is the music, it's catchy rhythmic, and unlike many others this anime season. Outside of the music most if not all parts were mediocre.
Problem 1, i.e. the most fatal hit for this anime has to be it's episodic nature. Episodic shows need to carry weight with each installment, either the setup, the characters, or the audiences feelings have to change. When you fail to accomplish any of the three, you fail as an episodic show. For example the setup should've changed with the new adopted sister, especially with the past she has. But no,
...
she's only a sister in name, her every appearance afterwards could just be concerned passerby A ,with the extra line of oniisan or something. The lack of emotional fallout, or comedy, or excitement made most episodes dull, so if nothing really changes in the set up and the characters, and the emotional pay off is only once a blue moon it becomes hard to be invested.
Problem 2, most if not all the supporting and main characters are static. At the end of this show I still couldn't tell you anything about Makoto or Takashi, not even the basic his dreams are, he fears, he reason for his behavior is . These things are the staples of any character. Without them you could replace stick figures without names and the story would still flow the same.
Problem 3, masked as a plus, would have to be the story. The story tries too much, I can understand why. It wants to have an array of character, it wants to make Ikebukuro feel like the wild west. It wants to match that psychedelic feeling the opening gives. It wants to touch on a variety of topics with a vast array of opinions. But what no one seemed to realize, is that there is not enough time or money to achieve whatever the hell you want. Gang fights are interesting, so are drug businesses and cartels, the mafia is super interesting. There is so much that when you throw them all together in the stew you get gray sludge. That's the problem. Though the plus, has to at least be that it's inspired, that it wants to do something. I think that's the reason I stuck out so long and watched so far because even if the characters were static and the art standard, even if some episodes are so boring. The author/writer/director added a certain, I don't know how to explain it, mood that made me feel some kind of hope that something might develop and come to full form. I had that feeling till the last episode.
If you ask me, I can tell I'm being picky, it's not bad, it's certainty not good. If anything I feel it's perfect as background noise when you farm. But I feel that way because I though maybe this could be the next Durarara or Baccano, something like xxxHolic, or Mononoke., or even maybe Natsume Yujinchou. Interesting , and unique. Focused but still the plot remains episodic. The fact that my hopes have been crushed led me to this low score.
TLDR; I liked the idea of it, but never the execution

An interesting take to the usual Sherlock Holmes story. I've never read the books but I have watch a variety of adaptions of the Holmes formula from the BBC version to elementary, as well some anime adaptions like kabukichou sherlock, etc. So believe me when I say, that it captures the essence of the sherlock story, while branching out into it's own element.
The Moriarty brothers beginning from the offset was unique in that they chose to do wrong for the sake of the right. Their road is paved in blood of the irredeemable, and while murder is undeniably wrong it does go
...
down easier knowing that all those who died deserved it. My main love for the story came to fruition when sherlock and Watson were introduced. I think the dichotomy of Moriartys' ideals, and Holmes/Watson's ideal is one of the most interesting themes of the show. To help the innocent, and punish the guilty , to what end can one justify wrongdoing. It also doesn't hurt that the Sherlock /Moriarty dynamic is fun, as almost all of the best cat and mouse chases are(though who's the real mouse I wonder) . I also think Sherlock's dynamic with Watson was sweet as well.
In the next season I hope, that the other two Moriarty brothers, albert and the youngest one's dynamic is also more explored. I understand Albert because the first few episodes were from his perspective, but the youngest not in the slightest. Also dynamics/relationships change as time moves forward, so...
Another note of improvement, is the show would also do well to add more cases for the criminal consultant lest the objective be to turn the show into a Sherlock adaption. Though as of right now I think the show strikes a fair balance between the Moriarty party and the Sherlock party, hopefully it'll continue in this trend.
A Moriarty focused show, unlike a Sherlock one, focuses more on the motive than the Whodunnit. The emotions are what carry the audience into siding with Moriarty , whilst the mystery and adventure, make the audience side with Sherlock.
The music befits the feeling of revolution the story gives off, and the art's exquisite. There were only two or so battle scenes, but they were fairly well animated. It was thrilling short and sweet. There is much more to explore, but knowing there's a second season, and the manga is ongoing assuages my feelings.
Also, I'm pretty certain that the last scene in the ED refers to Reichenbach Falls, or maybe I'm wrong...if not, foreshadowing!!!

Maybe it's just my perception, but the tension is a bit lacking. Though the show had a series of high points and in between those points were standard flat lining stories.
Story
The story's main selling point in my eyes is the mystery of the world. From bird's eye view learning more about the white cloaks and the adolla link, haijima's influence, the creation of the empire and the people's reliance on it's religion. How that religion is seemingly the only true one in the whole country except the small region of asakusa. What the pillars are meant to do, and the grand scheme of it all
...
is what I want to see. In this sense the fact that the anime makes me wonder and care so much is great. What's not so great is the fairly trite conflicts. Let's compare two battles that happened in this season both of which were stylistically good and animated wonderfully, although only one shined while the other sunk into the ocean of forgetableness. I'm talking about the fight in which Shinra and some of the other "newbies" went outside the Tokyo empire fought infernals , learned about the outside world, and shinra then had an adolla link with the lady in black. ya know that plot line. One where we found arthur may be a secret genius while learning more about the world's history, newish characters, and talking animals. It was a bright multifaceted story with not a lot at stake, because running away was always an option, but the adventure and possibilities made it worth the while. In comparison, the three way battle between Haijima, the 8th fireforce batallion, and the white clad was nothing short of boring. It seemed exciting because a pillar was at stake, and this was going to be a free for all wehre everyone had their own motives but instead of an open world, we got a turn by turn match. A fights B, then C comes out of nowhere , A now fights C, gets beat down, B now fights C . While B is fighting C, A tries to go help all the other A's to save nataku, except natku is a giant infernal about to go nuclear. In the end no one accomplishes anything, no one achieves anything, the only thing we got was everyone showing of their tech and skills, as well as new partner. The only saving grace of it all is Nataku's new relationship with his protector. Oh and don't get me started on the Maki arc. Though sidenote, the Benimaru+Joker team up was pretty damn sweet though I do wish they actually fought the Capitan of the 1 Fire Force Branch(the eyepatch guy).
Art
The art lends itself well to making the story come to life. Character designs are unique and expressive. The imagery is on point and animation is fluid and beautiful
Sound
The openings and endings are boppers. The osts on the other hand feel forgettable and average. Sound effects of beat downs are on point though, especially the last episode's. Uwah it sounded so painful.
Character
I think the main characters are fun and when they interact with each other , especially when they aren't in the standard locations(like underground, or their homebase etc.) Though I have to say they are a bit static. , maybe it's becausetheyare already rounded out but we as the viewer can't really see their growth, maybe except for Tamaki. Shinra, Arthur, Obi, and the others stick to their guns which isn't wrong but it gets stale. It's like knowing side A will do so and so regardless of any new info/doubt and so will side b, therefore conflict is inevitable so... blah. Its because of these feelings I really like the super weird characters in the story more than the heroes. Haumeiya, Sho, Sho's protector, Nataku's protector, Haumeiya's protector, the puppet lady from Haijima, the pink haired bimbo who let her friends die because she wanted to experience the thrill of almost dying. You know the type.. the eccentrics.
Enjoyment
It was worthwhile more often then not especially after a long day of studying and exams. Though if you asked me to rewatch it , I'd drag my feet and roll around the bed until finally hitting my head against the keyboard groaning out no. It's good not great, but it's worth watching. Interestingly enough, the anime is at least 10 times better than the manga, it's better paced and much more immersive.
Overall
A lot of my problems are personal ones. I have certain expectations and taste requirements , so while I might not find certain parts interesting, it's not to say you won't. Ultimately, what made me give this a 7 is the stale characters and the so-so interesting story, where some parts are amazing while others are all hype, no content. If there's a third season I'd watch it, though I definitely am not planning on picking up the manga.

Story
Id Invaded delivers it's story with a punch. Each mini arc is infinitely interesting and has its own purpose within the grand scheme of things. The climax was worth it, with the final showdown with john walker, although the very final episode was a bit of a let down. In hindsight, the show would've been better if it stuck to it's episodic format while further expanding on the characters. The overarching story did accomplish its purpose in that it tied all the loose threads, kaeru chan, the id well, how was it created etc.,and while the explanation is more than satisfactory, I can't
...
help but think maybe the show would've been better off without those mysteries being solved. Then again, I may be the only person who thinks that.
The mystery overall transformed from who the serial killers are to the mysteries of the contraption they use. Not a bad change, and definitely a change from the norm.
Art
The art is something. I think the anime's art is not all that unique and the color pallets are not over the moon. Though the best thing the show has going for it is its imagery. In each of the ids , the world is reflective of the consciousness of people who have the intent to kill. As such, these worlds are unique and have great meaning to the characters. The execution was definitely great, and it's because of the execution the show tied together in the first place.
Sound
The opening and ending are hypnotic, as well as the insert song Samurai. Those three are the ones which left the most impression on me. The soundtracks outside of that were good , but didn't strike out to me. The placement of the songs as well as the animation that went along with it were superb. Especially, Samurai, it suited the scenes so well and made me actually grip the edge of my seat , leaning towards the laptop in anticipation.
Character
The characters that were explored the most were Narhisago, the Perforator, and maybe Hondomatsu, everybody else got little no real screen time. The other characters became mouth pieces for the audience to put clues together. Although maybe it's because the cast was so big, especially the good guys side. If you were to ask me their names or anything really about them I wouldn't know, some of them I don't know how they look like. But if you were to ask me about the serial killers , I'd have a few more things to say.
Some shows can be fine even if the characters didn't have much to the, this isn't one of them. To prove this point, I present to you episode 10. Within this episode , the full story of Narhisago comes out in all its emotional rawness. IT makes the audience sympathize so deeply with his pains, that if there was more you could come to care about him. I would say this episode was really the emotional climax. Other episodes which focused on characters, looked at them more logically, so the audience begins to view these characters like bugs pinned to the board , rather than feeling beings, which is a shame. There was potential with the small outburst of actual humanity from the characters showing more than there jobs. Perhaps profession such as the police are so clinical, but I'd think to an audience filled with a mix bag of people it would be better to show more than that clinicalness, because people are feeling creatures, and without feeling we can't really cope.
Enjoyment
The songs were fantastic and in time. The animation moved fluidly, and the mysteries made sense(at least in hindsight). It was a thrill to watch. It was definitely an interesting watch, though it would be best to watch this with breaks in between, because too much at once will burn you out quickly. It also is a great builder of anticipation.
Overall
I think it's worth it, ass it has an interesting premise and an interesting execution.
I liked it quite a bit.

The most important thing I feel to know before you step into this world, is that there is so much lore explored previously. That's all. Knowing or not knowing may or may not influence your enjoyment, but it does exist , so when you finish the final episode it shouldn't feel like an end, nor a beginning, because there is so much before and after(both figuratively and literally).
My opinion is a bit biased as I play the game and thoroughly enjoy it, so my review will be in the perspective of a seasonal anime and a comparison to the game.
Story
The narrative is rather expansive, as
...
it would be when following a war between humanity and the gods. The few moments in which the characters take their time to explore Uruk, really tries to drive home the importance of the culture at the time and how it shaped that society.
The game goes more into detail about the technology, and the work of daily civilians, unlike the montage in the anime. It's the little things in life that really emphasize the travesty that is war. By setting up a modicum of peace, the story travels into a narrative of constant battles and loss. The loss has meaning because you saw the everyday life of everyday people. It doesn't hurt that the battles become larger as the stakes grow, and most of the time(while it may feel like it) it's never a total victor. The anime on this part rushed...a lot, the low count of episodes never fully emerged the viewer into the piece, or the atrocity of the war...(I.e pacing was faster than it should've been.
Tldr:The pacing wasn't so fast that you couldn't understand that there's a super amazing story , but it was just fast enough to be chanting next kaiju fight! Next kaiju fight! Or something similar to that...
Art
I've seen quite a few memes about how the character design is pretty much the same for all the characters(look at their faces if you switch the hair it'll be hard to tell the difference). While, it's understandable why a studio may choose to budget their resources into other parts of the anime like the animation, it is disappointing that it had to be done. Some people on the internet have made the great point, that character designs which are distinct, can not only be a easily recognizable by their silhouettes, but are also capable of making a statement about the character. All this to say, that distinct characters leave a better impression on new people who have little to no experience in the fateverse.. the lack of it while not earth shattering is disappointing.
While the character design may be lacking, the set pieces are just a marvel, the city of Uruk, the underworld, the lighthouse, the sea, every single field has an intricateness , a thorough love of the place. The details feel so perfect with the story from the scale of everything , to the small details in the ziggurat, and the hut. The tone and colors match very well, and it's just beautiful.
Tldr: the character design is bland in comparison to the game, but the set pieces are a gem.
Sound
It's perfect...
Nothing left to say
Tldr: PERFECTION IN THE FLESH
Character
The characters needed more time. This is where the game and anime should be mostly compared. There's a lot of story in this chapter, so the harsh reality is that the higher ups who created the anime decided it would be for the best if they completed the stories rather than allow the audience to care for most of the characters. The game had more time and power so it was able to do both, that's the harsh reality. However I can only review what I see, and what i see is some sentiment and character explored, but not enough so that the payoffs, the farewells have the meaning they are supposed to. There was a few unique scenes that were anime only and made the series more captivating, but what we were given was fairly standard with little understanding of some the more sidelined characters(jaguarman, siduri, Romani, gorgon, da Vinci, even Merlin(at least for me). These characters have depth and personality that without a doubt exists, and it's disappointing to not see the in their full form in the anime.
Tldr: the characters are good but lack depth, due to most likely the budget and time constraints. While understandable it's a little disappointing.
Enjoyment
It was very good, there were lows and highs, a few laughs here and there, overall a solid piece. The story was delivered and it made sense. The characters were enjoyable, though a bit flat, but the biggest thing was the animation was killer on certain scenes(ushiwaka v"Tiamat" , quetz v Tiamat, etc. ). There is a certain happiness seeing the character you love come to life and the shivers that go down your spine when they use their noble phantasm( I don't know how many times I rewatched merlin use garden of Avalon). It's a beautiful ode to fans of the nasuverse, I don't know how enjoyable it would be for those outside the nasuverse, because at this point I'm to integrated that it's impossible for me at least, to give an outsiders unbiased perspective.
Tldr: a great piece of work, that may not stand the test of time to those who are not integrated into to the nasuverse, or players of the game
Overalll
I think the series did a great number of things , some of which I may not have said(not that I need to , others will sing the praise I didn't) . It was a solid piece of work with a definitive end to the chapter, and a teaser after the end credits for more. It works well as a stand alone , but I think the most amount of pleasure that can be derived from this tale is after you've played the Babylonia chapter within the game. ''Tis the type of series one wants to bunker down with a lot of snacks and binge the series straight, then at the end of it go back to see if you actually remember any of the lore or the background of the plot points. There's enough in the anime you could make it a fa,e if you want to
Tldr: it's a great solid work, worth the time if you have it...

Story
The strength of this show, in my opinion, lies in the webs weaved by the unseen higher powers,i.e Bifrost and Sibyl. Each episode expanded the world to an extent, with immigration being the main issue at hand. Because of immigration, of for the sake of the issue , commit crimes as per their beliefs, whether it be using religious organizations as a front, creating/mass producing weapons, etc. The long run time of each episode allows the viewer to understand the issue at hand and end with a somewhat satisfying conclusion. There rarely is a cliff hanger and that is a great strength of this show.
...
The show attempts to show the connection of all the minor antagonist, however it doesn't really get through until the end (and by the end I mean the eighth episode). In someways the Bifrost and the congressmen are still as confusing as they were in the first episode( I still don't know what they mean by relation).
Character:
The introduction of new characters as the viewers perspective allowed new watchers a reprieve from the old. The inclusion of the foreign bureau while important seems little more than cameos at this point, if the show does not have another season, as Kogami and Akane do very little in the main plot other than fight a little, and reference the plot(somewhat) of previous seasons. The new characters are semi interesting but as they have yet to finish their character arcs, and the anime was wholly dedicated on writing an intricate plot, sometimes the characters fall short of likable(as in my favorite character that I remember more than a few traits about). My one complain in the story is the constant attempts to bring up Arata's father, when Arata does it fine, but every other side character...why? It's a bit annoying to be honest... My very last nitpick is in the final episode Arata's mentalist powers have transformed from being able to figure out anyone's thought process by listening to the sound of rain, to being able to manipulate anyone(Maybe I misheard/read that but Kei's sudden accusations made no sense to me).
Art:
The art was fairly good, the characters were distinct and in action scenes their features were not lost, alongside the movements being fluid. My favorite parts were watch Arata doing parkour, or Kei beating up goons. The art otherwise is standard and very clear. Overall the tone was dark, matching the show's setting and intentions.
Sound:
The opening and ending are quite catchy with the animations following it quite fluidly. Other than that the soundtracks within the anime matched the pacing and tone of every scene, so while it did it's job, but maybe it's nothing to write home about. Overall the opening and ending are better than most of the openings and ending of this anime season.
Enjoyment:
A story with an air of mystery up until the end, answering some questions and leaving many others unfulfilled. The core of this anime is different than many others and because of it's uniqueness , as well as it's different perspective , it's fairly easy to enjoy.Though, you may need to strap down when watching because if you aren't pay attention, everything will go right over your head.
Overall:
The anime is dark, mysterious, and explores interesting themes and plot threads. The characters have a certain level of appeal to them and luckily they don't require much investment on the viewer's part. It's hard to follow if you aren't paying attention, and skimming is almost nigh impossible. It's best to watch this when your'ready to bunker down for suspense and drama.Note that this anime rarely if ever has notes of comedy, but at the very least it isn't going to bawl your eyes out(or maybe tear up for that matter). The sole focus of the show is it's story, and I believe , at the very least, it delivers an intriguing story.
P.S if there was to be another season, this anime would overall only gain value, as of my writing this review I'm unaware if there is no following season as such , this is my grading without consideration of a following season.
