Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken

For such an outwardly beautiful production that people probably spent a lot of time drawing and animating, this is one of the most shallow stories I've ever seen. There is almost no character growth. There is little emotion behind anything, and the character is overpowered, but not in a funny way, in a boring way. I was at first interested in the video-game like world, but I quickly became bored once it became apparent everyone's purpose is nothing more than to worship Rimuru or jiggle their breasts at him. The show becomes worse and worse in the second half, and I just couldn't keep watching

I honestly have mixed feelings about this show, despite my fairly high score. I love yuri, and I really wanted to live this show. I think in many ways it's well-written.
However, it is very slow-paced, and I do not believe the writer uses this pacing to his or her advantage. The mood is also serious, sometimes even depressing rather than lighthearted like most yuri shows, and that's fine, but if the writer wanted to make a slow-paced, character-driven, occasionally tragic show, I would've liked more details. I realized upon finishing the show that I knew little about the characters' backgrounds and future hopes. I ... Jun 28, 2020
Gake no Ue no Ponyo

This lackluster movie would likely be forgotten through the years if it weren't for the Studio Ghibli name attached to it. The plot is near incomprehensible. I was waiting to know more about the magic and who and what Ponyo and her family are, where they came from, but none of my questions ever get answered. The plot moves too quickly at some points and too slowly at others, and there is never any real sense of danger or loss as the villain isn't the least bit evil. The worst part is the lack of theme. One might be able to guess the theme, perhaps

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun

First of all, I have to say that I really like monster school or fantasy slice-of-life anime, but that doesn't mean that I automatically like all of them. Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is one of the worse ones that I've seen, though not the absolute worst. The plot is a bit meaningless. As of episode 8, there is no overarching plot, but there doesn't have to be. I enjoy anime without one just fine. But the characters... Oh god, they are so flat and sometimes just downtime annoying. They are weird caricatures of characters, each one having maybe one or two features. The lead is a Mary

I watched this on a whim. I thought the plot was quite interesting. I didn't see the twist coming, but I usually don't. Though it's labeled as a fantasy movie, the world building and magic system are pretty flat. We actually know almost nothing about them outside of what we need to know to understand the plot. The movie is more based around the characters' relationships to each other and their own selves than anything else. I found this movie somewhat entertaining, but somehow it just didn't get me feeling anything. I feel like this movie is one of those movies where the idea or

At first, this appears to be a fairly unique anime with a wacky plot and cool art. Unfortunately, cool art is about the best thing that I can say about this anime. The plot goes all over the place, the world building is surface level, and every single characters is annoying, main characters and one-episode-only characters alike. I'm not sure when was the last time I watched an anime that failed to make even a single character endearing to me in some way. And the last bit of my complaint: I'm not surprised to learn that the anime is an adaptation of an American comic

All around, I thought this anime was entertaining as well as a good biology lesson/review. The characters were charming though a bit flat as they're just cells after all. They can't be too individualistic. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the lack of stake. The body rarely has anything that bad happen to it other than during the climax, and not once was I actually afraid for any of the characters. At first, I thought this anime was kept non-scary so it could be shown to young children getting their first biology lessons, but that's actually not the case. It's PG-13?

The story is fine. I still wish this could've been a full anime series instead of three movies because there is a lot of world-building without fully using it. Things are brought up without needing those new elements in the story. If it were a full anime series, we could spend more time with those things rather than using a tiny bit of them as plot devices. I also disliked the main character. I dislike main characters that are emotional and value their own things over the things of other people. I feel like this movie has the main character do the opposite of growth.

Watching this anime is sort of like reading a fan-fiction. There are numerous plot holes and surprises that haven't had enough time building up. At the end, there is a big twist but nothing leading up to it, kind of like when a fan-fic author decides to make their story go a certain direction but can't edit the beginning parts of the story because they've already published it online.
The character design is poor. It seems the author put more effort into their outfits and styles than their actual personalities. The main character is extremely annoying. Can you imagine hanging out with someone who brags ... May 7, 2014

In the beginning it seems to be a lot of fluff, though as you progress through the show the plot reveals itself. The only thing wrong is that the flashbacks need to be explained more, and there are many holes and unless you read it up on the wiki or have played the original game, you'll be left with questions. The plot itself was originally well written and pretty deep, though somehow when made into the actual anime it came out confusing and somewhat hard to follow, especially when the episodes are only 15 minutes long at most, and it is a full plot in
