Recommendation: Watch this movie if you are a fan of the Space Brothers anime.

Review - Space Brothers #0 is a prequel movie of the Space Brothers anime. Despite this movie being a prequel, it is highly recommended that this movie is experienced after getting into the Space Brothers anime or the manga. This is because the movie has some touch-ins that will be greatly enjoyable for Space Brothers fans as well as familiar background characters. Listed below are some of the things this movie does better ... than the series:

1. Good Animation -
While the Space Brothers anime doesn't have awful animation it can absolutely be a bit stiff at times. This movie in contrast is smooth and does a great job at portraying the emotional density of certain scenes. The animations here showcase a lot of love and really breathe life into this world. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

2. More lifestyle scenes -
Something the original series doesn't do a lot of is showcasing scenes of the two brothers together in the same space. Oftentimes due to story reasons the brothers are split up on other sides of the world (or even the universe in some cases) and there aren't a lot of times where the two can interact with each other face-to-face. This is a real shame as these two characters absolutely have chemistry with one another. This movie understands the relationship between these two and gives it time to breathe. The result is that you get these incredibly real feeling interactions between the two and it's just a heartwarming feeling to see the two brothers bonding and laughing with one another.

Overall for fans of the Space Brothers series you will absolutely enjoy this movie. The movie has a similar pacing to the Space Brothers anime and it really takes it's time to let the characters breathe and speak for themselves. The OST is great, the animation is great, the characters are great and it genuinely feels like the director really knew what they were doing when they were assigned to direct a Space Brothers motion picture. These people knew what the series was about and executed on creating a great movie that does a good job of showcasing all the best parts of Space Brothers.

Review - Space Brothers is one of my favorite anime of all time. It's an incredible piece of media that really grounds itself in the space science genre and really takes the time to elaborate on the lengthy processes by which a normal person becomes a fully-fledged astronaut. The story follows the main character Nanba Mutta as he embarks on a journey to become a JAXA / NASA astronaut. His journey from unemployed automobile engineer to astronaut feels incredibly real and while you can probably ... guess the outcome of his journey early on, I'd wager the true spectacle of Space Brothers comes from the journey itself. The early arcs of Space Brothers do an incredible job of writing each character realistically and thoroughly explaining each person's backgrounds and motivations for becoming a potential astronaut candidate.

More so than ever, Space Brothers is a phenomenal "life" anime. It does a fantastic job of writing it's characters with an incredible amount of nuance and love, making sure to follow each character's stories and fleshing out the motivations of the entire cast. This anime taught me that it is never too late to pursue your dreams. Even when you think that things won't go your way, sometimes life has a way of showing you another way forward. Life isn't always fair and it's the same way with space exploration. It takes an incredible amount of time and patience to accomplish great things. But so long as you are willing to make that journey, than the adventure will have been worth it

Review - Space Brothers: A Point of Light is a special 40 minute anime original episode rendered for planetarium screenings. This was an absolutely phenomenal piece of media. For fans of the Space Brothers series, there is something so inspiring and on brand about having a special episode rendered for planetariums especially since the series itself is so closely tied to space exploration and planetariums by their nature are a place for people to engage with the space sciences.

While this episode was relatively light in the ... way of substance, I nonetheless posit that it was an enjoyable experience. I mean seriously, how many anime have had the chance to be rendered in planetarium format? This episode as a whole felt like a wonderful homage to space media and all I could think about after watching it was that this episode must've been amazing to watch in the planetarium with the surround sound and the dome up above.

Review - Hope You're Happy, Lemon is a slice-of-life body-swap romance manga featuring a fun cast of characters and an absolutely incredible artstyle. When I started reading this manga the main draw for me came from how impressive the art was and I wasn't quite as interested in the story. However, as I continued to read I was often amused by how the author cleverly handles the character tropes the main cast are based off of. I find that the main leads, Lemon, Kogahara, and Sunao, ... are well-handled and they are fascinating to watch. Since this manga features a fair bit of body-swap between Lemon and Sunao I often find it fascinating to see how expressive the author can be when it comes to interpreting these two characters in each other's bodies.

Overall, I found this manga to be enjoyable. I know not everyone will enjoy it, but for those who do I'm sure this manga will be a staple for them to continue reading for days to come. The artstyle and the character writing I found quite enjoyable, so if that appeals to you I would highly recommend giving this manga a try.

Review - The Dr. Stone manga returns for a short story based around the events that occur after the ending of the original Dr. Stone. The story this time revolves around the various "scientific" uses of the petrification beam. If you enjoyed Dr. Stone you will likely enjoy this short story too. If you haven't read Dr. Stone yet obviously go ahead and read ... it first. The ending of this short story is vague but I think satisfying for the series. It makes me hopeful that Senku will eventually achieve what he wishes most.

Review - A masterclass in long-running Shonen manga series and definitely the pinnacle of the adventure storytelling genre. One Piece's incredible world-building and storytelling really comes through in it's manga series. Each arc is incredible and showcases Oda-Sensei's ability to tell layered stories. Oda will introduce a conflict and then continually compound issue after issue, story after story, until the conflict itself becomes a grand centerpiece of it's own individual story arc. It's a really awesome case-study in case you are looking to tell your own ... stories or become a writer yourself.

Additionally Oda has an aptitude for tugging hard on your heart-strings whether its making you cry because of a sad character backstory or making you incredibly angry because the villain is just that insanely evil. It's this "heart-string tugging" and layered storytelling that really makes the adventures feel grand and unexplored, waiting for the stories to be told and the conflicts to be resolved in awesome shonen fashion.

When this manga finishes up I know I will be reminiscent knowing that I lived in an era of great storytelling. Please give One Piece a try!

Review - Sonny Boy is beautiful. Beautiful in it's expression of life. Beautiful in it's expression of death... and everything else in between. I've never quite had an anime like this one that has hollowed me out with experiences of confusion, dread, and loneliness leaving me with but a smile on my face. Only Sonny Boy can deliver that kind of experience.

Sonny Boy deserves an overall rating of 10/10 because it fully delivers on the concepts, experiences, and feelings it's trying to convey to it's audience. ... From the ending theme, to the trippy yet awe-inspiring visuals, Sonny Boy gifts a profound experience to those watching it. I honestly can't even quite explain how this show has affected me. After all, Sonny Boy has a tendency to avoid definition, to avoid understanding. Yet I can say without a doubt that this show has left me with an impression that will last with me for a long time.

This is absolutely a Mixed Feelings type of show. Not everyone is going to like it for sure. But it is absolutely underrated so please give it a try sometime.

Story - 6 (Fine) - Story won't be terribly engaging. Some world-building elements are kinda of cool though.
Art - 6 (Fine) - The artwork is serviceable and there are a couple of characters that I find particularly badass looking.
Characters - 6 (Fine) - Nue and the first female lead are both interesting characters. Outside of that, you might find the rest boring.
Enjoyment - 7 (Good) - I enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but it was a fun comfort read.
Overall - 6.25
Review - This manga is a good comfort / casual read. It's not a good shonen manga and ... the fights won't be terribly engaging, but the school life and slice-of-life aspects are done reasonably well. Nue (the main girl character on the cover) is written incredibly well. She comes off as an empathetic individual which oozes charisma and leadership. I also found some (not all) of the world-building aspects to be interesting. Overall, give it a shot if you are at all interested.
