No idea why this shows got such a low score so I'll just write my review early.
Story/Characters
7
There's really not much to talk about here, it's kinda like your typical Abe no seimei ancestor story, except this one isn't atrocious. Slow to pick up the pace so expect to give it the usual 6 episode rule to decide if you like it or not. Basic jist is they do yokai/anothers cases which incorporates a mix of comedy and seriousness.
Onto the characters; we have our MC our resident newbie who can understand anothers which ultimately ends up with him attracting anothers wither or not is good, bad
...
or the rare odd balls. The rest of the team have their own issues i won't get into as it's most-likely a spoiler.
Note: There's a couple eps ( from what i get they're filler ) that may be uncomfortable to someone who doesn't enjoy seeing a guy being " bro " to another guy who is like " no homo ".
Art/Sound
7
Banger OP and good ED, the music tracks are good and keeps to the feel of being in the city. My only minus tbh is the echo they use for Sands of Ears, they just feel too overdone and kinda get annoying overtime.
Art is a hit or miss for me, i personally think its alright but some people might find it as being low par.
Enjoyment/Overall
For a shoujo audience it's quite enjoyable but shounen audience may not like it nearly as much. It's still quite early on so there's still plenty of room for change in the future. Overall it's a decently average yokai/AbeSeimei anime and while it's a bit slow to pick up the pace, it was quite rewarding to catch up.

The Synopsis doesn't really help much so just a heads up it's 4 episodes with roughly 5 eps each covering each episode ( so it's like 4 "games" covered ). Knowing this I can start the review.
Does magic exist? You won't even know anyway from watching this.
This is what I would call the Demo edition of Umineko; You don't need to spend money ( not much if you getting it legally ) and you don't even need to spend 100+ hours on it. This is what you get for how little effort you decide to put into it; an unfinished/resolved mystery with plot points
...
that make 0 sense, very little character development and mediocre fight scenes.
Story: The idea of the story is interesting however the anime executes this rather poorly. When I was watching this I felt like it was like splicing " clips ", kind of like if you imagined making a show but remove all the "unnecessary " bits, you just get a show that jumps quickly to the next scene without any transitioning and some moments they skip so far that what they mention has you confused as to how, when and why they even got there.
Another issue is with Battlers reasoning's, the point of the show focuses on the battle between Beatrice who is trying to convince Battler that witches/magic exists ( which she call it "surrendering" ) vs Battler who is using rather stupid outrageous reasons to deny the existence of this. Battler's meant to sound smart but since the story is limited, Battler comes out as being an absolute idiot who can just say something like " oh they ate tiny bombs and that's how their stomachs were destroyed " and the witch can only just laugh at it and accept it without arguing back. You get the point.
Art: The arts alright, it looks like there's a light glare constantly shone on the screen which can get rather annoying but it's not too bad. Most the efforts on the gore and some of the magic flash shows.
Sound: Sounds literally the only good part of the anime, it's not as loud and High quality as the VNs tracks but the tracks are good. As every person ever who has heard the Opening, it's impossible to skip that amazing opening, can't get sick of hearing it for 25eps straight. Oh, the voices are alright too.
Character: Lack of character development is a big issue in this, really the only ones who get decent development is Maria, heck the MC Battler and Beatrice actually barely got any development. Every other character probably got like the basic background knowledge and that's it.
Enjoyment: I'll be perfectly honest, I only went through those 26eps only cause I have read the VN and was interested in seeing what its like animated. That's basically the only thing that kept my enjoyment there.
Outside VN experience i'd say ep 1 and 2 are the hardest to endure, ep 3 and 4 does pick up the enjoyment a little... ehh if you into Battler/Beatrices rivalry.
Overall: It's straight up a bad adaptation, you basically just watch this than if you curious you will go to Manga/VN for further information. This only covers half of Umineko so yes you will feel bad after watching this and either crave for more or just give up. After all this is what you get for not spending the effort in reading 100+ hours of text.

Up to the sorta half way point and I'll continue watching it why? cause I enjoy it.
Edit: I finished it. Still overall the same thoughts.
I won't get into too much since its season 2 and most the details are similar to season 1.
Story: Things have certainly gotten better, we finally getting some more variety in the story. The darker tone along with mysteries popping up or resurfacing mysteries gives more reason to keep your interests into the anime without you getting bored with just yokai stories every episode.
Show is doing a great job at wanting me to think and theorize before the next episode.
Art: The
...
art-style is different, it seems more crisper while season 1 had more brighter shades and looking soft.
Sound: Some the tracks sound really good as expected. Looking forward to see new tracks hopefully. They did a good job with characters voices to fit the scenes.
Characters: Not much to write about here, basically like season 1; good characters for the same reason I written in my season 1 review.
Enjoyment: Not sure if its more enjoyable because of the mix between the fun jokes and dark moments or the jokes just gotten better. I found myself really enjoying the change of pace and the new tones.
Overall: I feel Tsuzuki is on the right path, Season 1 mistake in my opinion was they never touched on the powers Abeno and Ashiya used which left me and watchers hanging and I feel Tsuzuki is starting to finally get close to explaining things. The change from just comedy to focusing more on the drama with darker tones was a refreshing feeling to the palate.
I have high hopes for this season. Don't let me down.

" May contain light spoilers "
I feel that this anime is one of those " you either like it, or you don't " anime so I would highly recommend giving this one at least 6 eps before you make a judgement whether or not you like the plot or not.
Story: The plot isn't a masterpiece nor was it bad. But what's the plot you ask? well if you expecting some plot twists here and big changes than this isn't what you will be expecting. The show centers around the Comedy, Drama and Supernatural aspect and mostly episodes are about the two guys helping out
...
the troubled yokai then sending them off to the Underworld when they are content. They will guarantee to play your heart like a instrument the entire time.
If you looking for answers to mysteries and the unexplained mysteries in Season 1 than your best bet may be to skip this season and go straight to Season 2 Tsuzuki, that's basically when the show moves towards mysteries regarding the two guys and the Underworld. A little darker tone.
Art: Art will always be a preference thing to people, personally I found the art to be really good. It fits the theme of the show, its bright, vibrant but simple.
Sound: Not much music, the music fits in moments sure but could appreciate more variety. Voices of characters are good and fit the characters really well. By the way give the English dub a go, it's a surprisingly good but funny experience.
Character: Great characters, never would have guessed having a bubbly, naive 5 yr old Ashiya paired so well with Abenos personality ( I don't know how to explain it but i know he's basically annoyed but caring ), its like water and oil but they work together well. The different yokai you meet all have different personalities and backstories; some might be sad, some working hard for the one they love, etc, heck! one of the main yokai you meet is a siscon.
Enjoyment: Mainly the enjoyment comes from either laughing at the drama between Abeno being annoyed to hell with Ashiya acting like a 5yr old. If not for those you will enjoy the yokai stories.
Overall: Its enjoyable but only if you like that kinda anime, it's like watching Natsume but its more focused on comedy. This season sadly does a bad job with explaining some things which starts leaving watchers hanging wondering if its just not important or they just forgot. Like I mentioned before Tsuzuki is when the mysteries start getting explained.
Put everything together and you got yourself a cozy anime to watch after a hard long day from work or studying.
