Ao no Exorcist and Tokyo Ghoul both run on the system of "What have I become?!" Both main protagonists start out with normal human lives uninterrupted with the 'real' world they are being kept away from. Both protagonists are then introduced to the hidden world they were being kept hidden from under certain disastrous incidents having to deal with death. Ao no Exorcists', Rin Okumura, is a normal teenage boy who just started high school. He's been ostracized by society due to his monstrous behavior. After some time, demons attack the monastery he lives at searching for him. He finds a sword hidden by his father that, when unsheathed, will awaken his demon powers. He then turned into a Demon to protect the monastery and people who live with him. He is then continuously hunted by Exorcists for a short duration of time before transferring into a school in order to hunt demons. He meets friends that help him overcome his distress of being the son of satan. Tokyo Ghoul's, Ken Kaneki, his a normal college student who enjoys reading. He has a crush on this girl who occasionally goes to the same coffee shop as him. He later goes on a date and gets caught up in an unexpected situation. The girl is a ghoul who tricked him to eat him. Some stuff happens and she ends up getting killed by falling steel beams. Kaneki wakes up in the hospital, having some of the ghoul's organs transferred into him and becomes a ghoul himself. He ends up working at the coffee shop he likes; finding out it's a place where humans and ghouls gather in secret. He meets humans and ghouls alike that help him deal with the pressure of becoming something humanity fears. Both shows deal with a Humanity v. Opposing Race theme. With Ao no Exorcist being v. Demons and Tokyo Ghoul being v. Ghouls. Both are top notch anime that will leave you wanting more and most likely wanting to read the manga.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei and Toaru Majutsu no Index are highly similar in the case that they both invole... Magic and Science in many ways. A "weak" male main character made fun of just because of their levels or ranks Both protagonists have a sort of unique power that separates them from others. Love-struck female characters that you just can't help but enjoy. Awesome Action in the first episode. (maybe)

Both male characters are strong and unwilling to give up. Both are set in an area with advanced tech. Both male leads don't focus on the females around them, but are somehow unable to *escape* them. Either way they are willing to stay and fight for their own and others sakes.
