The first thing I notice when choosing a new show to watch is how appreciated and weighted the reviews are. Dr Stone seems to have our populace unbearably separated on one point, realism; especially because the main selling point is about science.
Its hard to understand why there is so much emphasis on realism, when Dr Stone's world's population have turned to stone! To have science and realism on the same page, is to really miss what this show is trying to achieve. Yes, a crazy genius who always knows what to do isn't realistic. Yes, a brawly half-naked man picking up boulders is not

always realistic. But should this relate to how the science is applied to the show? NO! Dr Stone is a humble, yet incredulous story that you should definitely acquaint yourself with.
Story: 7
Fourteen episodes in and I'm enjoying it so much. As I said before, the world's population have all turned to stone. After 3700 years of Earth returning to its humble beginnings, our main protagonists lumber quietly in petrification. The main protagonist Senkuu awakes, determined to save everyone still stuck in stone. When his best friend Taiju finally awakens from his slumber, they begin their adventure to restart technology from when they left.
The first few episodes are well paced, introducing steps taken place to re-invent technologies. The story is simple, and is easy to follow. As the story is mainly paced from the main protagonist's perspective, the story does not deviate, however adapts and overcomes the problems that Senkuu face. The story is not cliche, does not seem to rush the story and doesn't put any characters out of the limelight. However take that with a bit of salt, because the main "antagonist'', Tsukasa was delivered less than desirably. The story only gets a 7 because the main antagonist is very poorly written, does not have much limelight and doesn't seem to fit the anime very well. Tsukasa is basically as put "good guy but a murderer'' and does not seem to fill much of a character other than that. Even after episode 14, does he seem to have an actual influence and I really wish that further on in the show his presence is actually influential.
Comedy is definitely one of Dr Stone's strong suits. If you come here seeking stoic science, action and adventure then you've come to the wrong spot. The jokes they make are funny, and did make me smile time to time, but gotta say; Taiju at the beginning is almost unbearable (thanks Black Clover for training). The art style used with the comedy is very different to what I had expected, and was genuinely very funny. The jokes at times were very repetitive, which was occasionally tiresome. However I noticed the more episodes I went in, the more added jokes were introduced which was a tad wholesome.
Art: 7
Not a massive art critic. I don't necessarily think art is a massive factor that influences my decision (unlike Evil or Live). The art used is very pretty and depicts the environment in a subtle way. It doesn't take away the emphasis of the main characters, but isn't just a background. I think the characters are drawn well in according to the manga's theme. The comedy and art go hand in and hand! Very good.
Sound: 7
Again not a massive critic of sound. I really like both OPs and actually for once really enjoyed the first ED. The music used in the episodes is appropriate for displaying the mood of the scene and I don't have any problems with it. If the music was more memorable like (Violet Evergarden) then it would be up there around 10.
Character: 8
I really like the characters and their influence on the world. I like how Senkuu applies a lot of science related facts and seemingly knows everything, yet is grounded by common sense. He isn't over powered. But he isn't just trying to survive either. Its a good medium and his approach to many problems is analytical, but does not deviate from emotion. He understands the environment he is in: who he is trying to help, who he is trying to beat and who he wants to be as the one retaining the last 2 million years worth of knowledge. His comedic approach is very narcissistic (not a problem) and occasionally sprouting unrealistic ulterior motives.
Taiju and Yuzuriha, are strong supporting characters who have good intentions. Whilst appearing quite bland, their simple approaches to reaching problems is enjoyable to watch and is a break away from Senkuu. I'm sure since they have not been focused on for now, that they will be reintroduced later on after their espionage type adventure. Overall both written well, both noble characters and strong supporting characters.
Already written about ''antagonist''.
Kohaku and Chrome, appearing later on in the series are both enjoyable and bright sparks of the new world. Both characters have similar goals, and work twice as hard to achieve them. They are both funny, Chrome inkling to a more loud, humble humor and Kohaku more a tsundere/strong character. Kohaku could use some more potential but overall fit very well into Senkuu's situation and don't delve away from my enjoyment of the show.
Overall = 9
I don't write very well, but I felt like this anime deserved more praise. It was funny, it was enjoyable and it was different from the usual I watch. I'm looking forward to watching more episodes!
