for those of you who would enjoy a cdrama with the genres Action, Historical, Comedy, Romance, Wuxia, Fantasy you should check out another adaptation of this novel Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain. It was hilarious and a surprisingly good romance for a student/teacher tag, possibly because the idea of our female lead grooming our male lead to be her husband is less likely than our younger male lead doing the same.
This anime version was fine, with way more cultivation methodology than I was expecting instead of the focus on interpersonal relationships that really gives our main character's the chance to shine.
...
If you want a comedic cultivation show with no romance and as many fourth wall breaks as our protagonist can manage then check it out though if you want a deeper story that turns out to be funnier because you end up liking the characters more than try any of the other adaptations of the novel.
Everything about this anime is basic (which i have no problems with) but they tend to rely on the same relatively unfunny jokes to keep momentum instead of keeping things fresh. (the sheer amount of sex jokes was impressive and reasonably accepting of the lgbt side of things, fatty mcfatty is a charater's nickname that got old as soon as I stopped being entertained by what it sounds like in japanese and while it tracks that nicknames are based on the physical trait that only they have my mood dropped a little too much as soon as our female leads nickname for the 7th elder was blackie while our ML name for him is black elder...keeping it classy)
in closing check it out even as a test to watch the 37ep cdrama, but if you want something with substance or interesting things happening loos somewhere else

I'm not a fan of mecha anime, in the way that whatever pull the ideal example of that genre has on its admirers won't pull or push me away. In my anime I want something unique, or surprising or relatable to pull me in no matter the genre so when I planned my anime to watch list I added the highly rated and reviewed Code Geass as an obvious choice. The first 10 episodes i watched in quick succession with the hope that it would give me a good idea of what to expect from the show. Instead I was left with
...
the feeling that I had wasted 4 hours of my life on something that was reasonably entertaining but entirely uninteresting. Today I decided to watch another episode of the show I had dropped in a different mind space (I may be under the influence of substances) in the hopes that such a highly rated show would have some substance that I was missing. Instead I reaffirmed my desire to drop it and found myself writing this review.
Story: 6
I just didn't care about the story. Some thought was put into it but I'm pretty sure that thought was just researching past anime.
Art: 6
In comparison to 2 anime made in earlier years it is equally fine. Those anime (Monster and Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu) take characters that are distinguishable from each other and create an interesting story while Code Geass has those same characters enacting a predicable narrative.
Sound: 7
I'm not one to comment on intro/outro but I will say that tension, voices and sound effects were delivered well enough.
Character: 7
Again I have only watched 11 episodes but the reason to be interest in this anime is not character development/interesting characters. The characters introduced to me were uninteresting and interchangeable with the many similar characters I have met during my time watching TV.
Enjoyment: 4
Obviously I've dropped this anime and am resolute in my desire not to try it again. Pure enjoyment in my experience is like beauty; almost entirely in the eye of the beholder. I can enjoy violence and explosions, I'm sure I could enjoy people getting into suits and shooting at each other, but I need something to pull me in. Code Geass with it's misc. green haired bishoujo alien paired with a tsundre super-inteligent brunet bent on revenge didn't have enough to offer for me personally.
Overall: 6
I could say my time spent watching Code Geass was a waste but I'd prefer to believe that it was time spent reminding myself there was a reason i watched Neon Genisis Evangellion all the way through. That reason was that I was curious about the ending, I wanted to see how things would play out. In the case of Code Geass I will happily go to my grave without knowing whatever it wants to tell me

I didn't watch Soul Eater all at once but I never considered dropping it. If I wasn't in the mood for anything particular it was one of my main options. An episodic show with overarching plots and multi-episode arcs isn't prime binging material anyway. I felt tension, shock, and sadness during my watch of Soul Eater. Additionally, I spent a good portion of time laughing for less than complimentary reasons.
The characters aren't anything I'd read fanfic about but they are fun to watch and I've been emotional on their behalf. Our student characters are adequate, nothing interesting for me. Teachers are moderately quirky with
...
a side of Stein. Stein is a great addition to any scene not only because of his constant fight between logic and madness but because he tends to say the funniest things. My personal favorite is the creative heap of villains including Arachne, who left a great impression on me after the last arc.
I enjoyed the balanced character interactions; predictable, ridiculous, shallow, intense every role filled. I didn't hate any of the characters or end up skipping anything but the songs. This is a recommendation if you are thinking about watching Naruto or something similar.

This is a recommendation to watch as well as a comment that the guiding voice of this series isn't a voice I think is funny though because the characters of MDZS are SO amazingly hilarious this series is funny. During the first episodes I was overwhelmed by how adorable the chibi characters are and how much fun this anime is. This changed when a couple of stale episodes focused on things I didn't want and in ways I didn't want them to and I started watching these overjoyed by the art and kind of content with the structure/content of the show. I was
...
disappointed in the amount of joy I got from this but I did enjoy it a lot.

This review is to let you guys know why I dropped this, I didn't get too far but I think I got a pretty good feel of what to expect 'sense of humor' wise and it wasn't for me.
For the queers out there, I really doubt you'll make it past the 6th episode. The humor can be described as a basic isekai parody. Nothing unexpected, quirky or smart happened in the early episodes (i obviously can't speak to the later ones) but it didn't get more than one laugh out of me. This show is like no name candy, pure sugar, and food colouring with
...
little to fill you up.
What I did like about this was the POV, not having it in the first person made the isekai gags funnier because what we see is everyone thinking that our world traveler is a weirdo.
In summary, if you are looking for an easy, cultivation, parody and don't get turned off by homophobia this show is for you.

I watched Zankyou no Terror in Japanese without listening to the intro/outro music (this is how I watch all anime). I've been looking into shows recommended if you like Monster, Steins Gate, Durarara, and/or Hoseki no Kuni this is where I found Terror. If you like Monster you are going to want to give Terror a try, the vibe and character backgrounds are similar.
The first 5 episodes were so much fun. They felt like Durarara and Baccano in how we are thrown into a plot that has already started, meeting a new and unique character in every scene. The facial expressions
...
are my favourite part of the art style, they allow us to get a feel for what drives our characters.
I've read reviews where people are disappointed in the second half of this series and I understand their frustration. The second half doesn't feel like Durarara or Baccano. Our characters are fumbling and they are struggling to stay firm in their convictions. Their trauma is too deep to have given them fully functioning brains and it shows. Though it's considerably less fun to watch I like the second half. It's kind of amazing how shaken they are by the insertion of another person into their family.
The only issue with Terror as far as I can tell is they didn't give me enough. It feels like a movie in the way that one season anime sometimes do, I wanted more than the occasional dream flashback and I was curious about the detective's backstory as well. They could have easily made it a 15 episode series and I would probably serve them at least a 9/10.

Going into this I didn't read any reviews, I'm super glad about that because I noticed how many people thought this show was lame when I went to rate the anime. I found it when I was looking for recommendations after watching Houseki no Kuni. This is a beauty and the beast child bride show. I gave the story 7/10 because of this. Our heroine is traumatized and lonely and finds herself sold to the perfect person who can help her get through her abandonment issues etc. It's really sweet but also we never find out how old Elias is.... but it's called the
...
ancient magus' bride for a reason, right? anyway, I'm obviously not over the wrongness of this but I watched the 24 episodes in 3 days and loved every minute of it.
My main reason for loving this is the 'neighbours' and how fleshed out their world is. The different dragon species and the way they approached life and death was really interesting and gave me some new ideas for a world I'm building right now.
Watch this anime if you want to pretty animation and some contemplation on how much emotional strain a person can take before they give up trying to live their best life.

I avoided watching this because harem shows are hard to make into something not super irritating. I liked ouran host club (a medium amount) in the same way I like Kyo kara maoh but this harem brought enough extra to the table for me to give it a >7 rating.
First I'll tell you why the core concept isn't the worst.
1. the not so bright super kind girl has a mom who used to be in a gang and has some great life lessons. She also has 2 super entertaining friends.
2. while 2 harem members seem like they could evolve into
...
a 3p the rest of the harem like the main character because of her non-judgmental attitude and the fact that she is super willing to cook and clean for the house.
3. while the concept of turning into an animal when hugged by someone of another gender could have been used as plot in an infinite amount of ways it's role is purely fact and slapstick comedy.
Next, I'm going to tell you what I got that I didn't expect.
1. Every central character made me laugh out loud. at least once. I don't have a shoujo manga personality but these guys are each written in a beautiful moment of hilarity that earns them their spot in the anime. and if you reflect on their zodiac animal after those laughs you laugh harder.
2. I cried multiple times during this season. In happiness, sadness, understanding, I cried so many times. I accepted when I turned 18 that I was going to be a grown-up who cries at certain types of things and this show hit every base. and the fact that I cried wasn't upsetting, it was just a gentle cry leading to a content feeling at the end of an episode.
So I don't watch shoujo anime because the voices tend to annoy me but is this what they are like? I happily watched 25 episodes in 3 days and will end up thinking about this show more in the future. (and of course, watch the other seasons) I don't know what type of people would like/dislike Fruits Basket but if you aren't watching it for the reasons I wasn't then you should give the first 3 episodes a try.

I'm writing this review mainly to unpack what I just watched. I would suggest watching the full 3 episodes, just over 1.5h, all together to get the intended effect (or what I assume is intended). Under the title of Memories 3 different experiences are shown, they each left me in an entirely different mind space but upon reflection showed us sides of the same coin. If the coin is an emotion/behavior/way of looking at the world.
I want to talk about the connections between the episodes and to do that I'll do a brief statement on the verdict of each. This could be considered a SPOILER,
...
maybe.
1. a character struggles to face reality given his relationships -> chaos ensues
2. MC is a victim of unlikely circumstances and disorganization. No one succeeds in explaining the situation to him leading to mass casualties.
3. in a world focused on a singular goal with little information other that his role in the grand plan a character is unable to fight the tide that (we assume) will lead to the early death of his family
I think what I like about this is the way it gives me the opportunity to think about what the director/writer's purpose was and to not really be sure if I got it right. The feeling of confusion and loss of control that I got from each MC was interesting in its uniqueness. This movie shows us how emotions or scenario descriptions can use the same words or have the same verdict but the way they make us feel can be completely different.
Watch this if you want to talk about/write about what you think about this movie. Otherwise, just watch a tv show that makes you think so you have time to consider what you just watched.

I thought I'd write a Naruto review as unlike most Naruto fans I started late. Naruto was one of the first anime I watched, I was 21ish and I LOVED it, watching both series as quickly as possible. The main issue with Shippuuden is the filler episodes (as I'm sure you've read) but luckily there is an easy fix. https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/naruto-shippuden I would suggest reading episode descriptions of the fillers to see if you want to give them a shot. Some are super fun, there are a bunch set in the past about Kakashi and Minato and some in the allied war arc are interesting
...
and releventish, but of course they are fillers and naruto fillers tend to be on the painful side. My second problem with this series (acknowledging that japan sucks when it comes to representation) was the heteronormativity, at least in Boruto Orochimaru is upfront with being non-binary their son, but the way everyone gets paired off in painful to watch.
Why I still give this a 9/10 is the thoroughness of character development and the incredible animation and production style. This world was built with such care that the creators of the anime were able to display an intricate storyline very clearly and in a way that leaves us with the best feeling.
