Contents: Review (first six episodes) Then updated review after completion.
This show is bad. I know people throw around the term "Isekai Trash" so much more freely than they should, but I do feel as though this show is exactly that(as of episode 4). it is Trash, Garbage of the Isekai Variety.
Cons
-Gary Stu: main character is perfect, does everything perfect, Super overpowered. I usually am 100% ok with it, but I feel like it is done poorly here. No, It was introduced well enough, but I guess I do not like the Main character or something... IDK. It is bad. I mean even the god starts

off Apologizing to the MC.
-Pandering: It ~~appeals~~ no that is the wrong word for it. They give you everything, but it is superficial and easy. I can not imagine this show working for any one who is not just trying to play lala pretend land. It just grates on my nerves how it is done. I know the show is generally innocent, and it is part of the over arching storyline, but man, I am just put off by it.
-Artwork: Set pieces are not consistent. This is a minor one, but There are complete inconsistencies in set pieces. For example Episode 4 making a stew. Have cubed meat. Turns into sausages in the end product. This is small, but I have noticed issues like this EVERY episode, if not multiple times per episode. I might be being a stickler but this is I guess a personal pet peeve, and oh my goodness I just shouted at my TV "WHERE DID THE SAUSAGES COME FROM!" Anyways...
-Animation: I do not think it is really bad enough to complain about, but it is obvious on the lower end of what should be done.
-Feels: Hollow. Man. Maybe this should have been under pandering. It just feels like some one wanted money, and thought this was an easy way to make it. IDK, but I am not feeling a soul in it, but that is ephemeral and an unsubstantial way to look at things so maybe discount this.
Pros
-Fantasy setting: I am a fantasy Show Lover. So this is a Pro. I will try and watch pretty much anything with a fantasy/sci fi/Supernatural backdrop.This Show's world is completely acceptable.
-Character designs: All the character designs and artwork is good. Personalities are ok, if a bit off. Like they want to commit to a personality to them, but the jokes just are not hitting with me. Guild master, LOOKs unique, We get NONE OF THAT out of the conversation. Or any of the conversations.
-The story arc: I do want to know the reason for the season. I think it COULD be good storywise when we get to see it all, but all the small details are killing me.
-Hopes: I genuinely hope this gets better, Maybe I some how have just been in a really bad mood every time I watched an episode of this. I do not think it is beyond redemption. But All I am riding on with this anime is Hopes, and it very well can get better.
TLDR. It seems like it is Pandering and feels hollow, but the Story arc *MIGHT* get good, and the Characters might actually get to be more than just a paper doll for people to project themselves onto.

With having watched the remaining 6 episodes I can say They were MUCH better. I did not see any more random visual inconsistencies, though I might have just become momentarily less aware. It still feels kinda hollow wish fulfillment, but I realized it has the same vibes as a children's show. Like I am getting the feeling of watching "Dragons Tales" while watching this show.
If I had to say one problem with the show that remained consistent. And It might not be a real problem, but everything always works out for the main character. Which is nice, I am glad he lives the honey glazed saccharin life. It's just not how I have experienced the world. This is fantasy right? But that is a fantasy that I can not wrap my head around, things just working right? People just believing you or taking your side? Is more fantastical than breathing underwater and saving a mermaid village. Makes me wish I had the silk life like this guy. Maybe why I disliked him was that he is living a life I can not have, even when it was just mundane things... No I disliked him because of some of the things he said/did. Still not a bad guy.
Story
There is no Over arching story. It is just one guy His two adopted siblings, and A lion A Tiger a Wolf and a THUNDERBIRD, Living their life in a fantasy world. It is like Slice of life, Done in a fantasy adventurer setting. All the plot hooks they set up... Fall flat because they did not want them.
Art
I liked the mermaid village and pretty much all the art underwater. But I like mermaids, they are cool. Village seemed kinda small though. Like that scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail. They show a picture of Camelot and the guy mutters "it's just a model" same feeling. But it was still a pretty looking village.
Animation.
It is very lackluster in animation. Which is ok. Are you looking for fight scenes? Enjoy 2 frames per battle and instant victory. I kid you not, there are more frames in them kneading dough for bread than probably all the fight scenes combined. They only knead bread twice. There are a lot of fight scenes. So you know take it as you will.
Ok. So Lets talk about the characters. I am always looking at them. The point of anime yeah? Well The only thing I can say on this. Looking at Sylphyleel. It is a shame he was not a goddess. Like He could have been and it would have been better... But alas there are no heroines in this show. Are we sure he is... Nevermind lets just end the review.
TLDR V2 its OK. I hate the Saccharin easy no difficulty to solve stuff, but that is because I genuinely think I would get to fight a dragon before I experienced that myself. So you know... Not jealousy just pain. It did get better from the first half, by quite a bit, I came around to thinking everybody is at least ok. The story arcs got to be better enough. I change this to a 7/10 Still do not recommend.

8/10 If you are okay with the fact it will have a garbage end and it is 99% likely not the writers Actual canon ending read it. The last Chapter is obviously a "We have to end the Manga and this works even if you will hate it" kind of thing.
There are 42 Chapters as far as I am aware and as such I am sure I have read everything in this Manga.
The good.
-It is a good bit of fun while it lasts.
-You get cultural references
-Edgelord/Chunibyo glamour galore.(Which I love.)
-I like most of the creature art.
-There is a bit of psychological mind play at

The bad
-It ends Abruptly and poorly. You get the first arc of probably what should have been 4-5 campaigns, and It just bombs it and makes it only one arc.
-Some of the (character)art is... Not bad but really not my style.
-The story does go at 100mph. Some things might be more interesting if it was not so zippy fast.
-The villains are sooooooo Evil. Painfully evil. I know it is a good way to get people on your side, but Most real world villains are Tepidly evil at most, and usually just people trying to be better at living. A lighter more relatable villain makes for a better story IMO, but this novel does what it is supposed to.

So This is a classic* Anime
People love it for
Visuals.
Story.
Positive Messaging on some subjects.
Characters.
They are in the right to enjoy and appreciate it for such things because they are Done right.

want to punch one every time you see them... I think there were two instances where this was not the case, where the men were not some deviant or horrible person. I guess that does not matter much to the average viewer but it just burns my biscuits to be portrayed so illicitly corrupt as an entire gender. If you hate "Men" because they are "bad" you need some help. Seriously seek mental help. Same thing if you have that opinion about women. There is good and bad in both groups but it is not healthy to hate or stereotype them all. Well I suppose that covers the Manhate lets get to--
Lesbilove. It would be okay, Probably would not be something awful in shows but 99/100 times it is portrayed wrong. The grass is never greener on the other side. It does not make one happier. It does not make things easier. It is not the healthier option physically or mentally. And I am tired of people pretending that it is/does, and this show actively tries to support that narrative though admittedly subtly, but my brain saw it that way. I am not going to tell you how to live your life. If you think it is your path I fully embrace your right to do so. But this show's message is propaganda on that front and I hate propaganda. Anyways I probably read to much into things, but the combo of Manhate+lesbilove just ruined the show for me. (The producers did confirm the lesbian overtones after the show so it is a real thing and I am not just making junk up.)
Bud I tried watching this show three times before I could finish it. I started a few episodes and stopped only to come back and try and finish it years later. Why? Because every time I watched it I got caught up on it how badly they were portraying the men and throwing subtle nods towards the... I think it is called "Yuri." I wanted to like this show. But to me it genuinely was not worth it when you are aware of this side of things. I genuinely hated watching this. But I do recognize the good facets of it.
Anyways I am probably crazy for seeing things this way in the show. Feel free to watch it and believe me wrong. I will not deny it is a possibility.

Let us start with the flaws.
1. The show moves at a stupid fast pace. This is the root of almost all of the other flaws.
2. You never really learn too much about anything, because it is all being rushed.
3. If you dislike Overpowered Peeps then this is not for you.

too long for the story to continue. Ok that last bit was a joke, It should have been sweetly long like a long bath not bitterly short like a freezing shower. If you can not take your time to enjoy things I do think something is wrong indeed.
But seriously I rated this an 8 Because I honestly I thought it was good in every aspect, except that it was way too rushed. I think they knew it when they made the show. As such unless High fantasy, with a mostly overpowered MC is your cup of tea, think about passing it over.
Personally I would watch it again, But I recognize that it is not going to rate as high for other people because it is not their Genre of choice and it does have "Some Major Glaring Faults.."

They said it themselves. To paraphrase.
"This is not Evangelion. This is what people wanted instead of Evangelion. As such this is both a one of the best loveletters to fans they could have made, and also one of the worst insults that could have been done."
This series of movies only exists because people were not satisfied with the rest. The fans asked for it, and they got a more straightforward explanation of everything with solidified plot points. This is the loveletter.
It contains many things just thrown in to sound cool, to make it seem like there is some depth to any of it at all.

Without sense, they name things and expect you to follow along. The plot does not exist because the characters are important but the characters exist for the sake of plot. In my opinion a Hollow method, And overall an insult on many levels to those who watch.
There are no life lessons to be learned here, there is no struggle. This is just a generic and empty Mecha Show that people begged Evangelion to be. You got what you asked for. This show is not deep, this show is shallow preaching, because the shallow asked for more.
Love it for its Mecha, Love it for what it tried to do and tell. Hate it for its emptiness, Hate it for killing a story, hate it for its empty characters who are not who or what they should be.
Now that I am out of my Monologue. Mari was a good addition. But at the same time, it is a Why? Why was she even introduced- is it to dissapoint every one out there who likes Asuka and ruin any bit of her previous storyline? Why does Mari completely ignore the world changing God power of the Third Impact and show up on that beach like she did? Is she secretly a god? Probably that or just bad writing. Side note, again while watching this show I feel like Everybody in it makes stupid decisions, and do things that make no sense and the plot only continues because of plot armor and the "rule of cool" as such it really is empty no matter how upbeat the ending is, or how much I like the characters. Ahh also, GJ Shinji the world was a hologram and nothing mattered, That explains your two right turns. Killer music though.
TLDR Watch if you are ok with Fake drama and Decent but rare Mecha fights. Don't watch if you liked Evangelion for any other reason.

This show is Hollow. It is slice of life, with wonderful characters. No real story, just events. The main character arguably lives the dream life, Immortal eternally youthful body, life is easy and she just relaxes and lives day to day.
Every character that comes along can either be helped or appreciated by the main character. There is no danger at any time. She can one hit the Demon Lord, and can solve everything. If you are looking for something other than CGDCT(Cute Girls Doing Cute Things), you will most likely not really find it here. There is a debate on whether it is yuri,

or not. It is probably(Definitely) Yuribait, but cannonicaly they are all just Adopted "Sisters/Family/Children" which is good in my opinion.
I found myself at around episode 7 realizing that the show was not very fun for me. You will for sure get a few laughs maybe every episode or two.
If I had to give any one gripe about it, it would be that the villains follow a theme... Rather the show follows a theme. It paints women as great, and Men as generally bad. Not in an overbearing way I think. It is just that Out of all the men characters that have speaking roles, only 2 were not villains and I am not sure that they even had more than one scene each. I will admit there is not really a Villain of the week situation but men are Portrayed Poorly in this anime. Even if they are not the Villain they are usually given bad character traits that affect people negatively.(Sure elf is clumsy, but in a good way, Sure Demon lord is tricksy, but in a good way) In fact the only female villain in the show, gets a "redemption arc" almost immediately and she is brought into the family, which is good.
--There is no Yin and yang in this show, there is only Yin. --
I am not saying there needs to be romance, or recurring male characters but They really should try to balance it out as it seems unnatural. Make some of the villains Women. Maybe make some of the people they interact with men, without them being Negative entities either in personality, or action. Honestly it just seems like Mediocre writing, or intentionally leading a group by their nosering and expecting people to like it, As you would have to have a fetish to miss it. I know that they are not really representing men, but at what point does it become insulting to us?
----I think it was the Pig Bar scene.... Though sadly there are people out there who enjoy that. It would be funnier to me if it was less true about so many people. Not that I was personally offended, just a stray thought When I got to that scene.
That being said, Art is wonderful, Main cast of Characters are all 10/10 art and personality and you should like them all unless one just grates on your nerves, I did personally think that they are all wonderful. The show was a bit slow paced, and in fact when I read the Novel years ago I stopped reading it because it felt slow, and unenthralling, and that kind of was alleviated by the Anime Format, as far as I am concerned if you are interested in the "Story" the Anime is the way to go with this one, and the studio did a great job with the overall quality of this one.
That being said there was never a point where I wanted to stop watching the show, it never did anything outright bad. What this show does it does well, and it avoids doing anything to absolutely ostracize itself from the watcher.
TLDR
I generally really Like Fantasy stories so I gave it a good go and watched all 12 episodes and will probably try and watch season two, but if you are not Specifically into CGDCT, Slice Of life(Sub Genre: Where everything goes right), or Yuribait I would recommend against it as it was Barely humorous enough to me to warrant a comedy tag, and not Fantasy Enough to ring that bell for me. 5/10

TLDR at bottom of review.
The big problem with this show, is it moves too fast when it comes to everything. I feel every episode needed 3 episodes to actually explain everything. Everything story wise, and character development wise is just a little rushed.
This show is obviously not an in depth anime at this moment. The story is... Well they have a target audience, and they are trying to hit them hard with an easy "life". I have not read anything but this is pretty much a prequel arc as far as I can tell on to the main story, just to get all the characters

into a position where you know them.
The art is good, they did a great job on all of it. The character designs are all great, the location art is great, the only place they kind of dumbed things down is the monster/enemy art but that is ok most of them only last 3 seconds anyways.
No problems with sound, but nothing particularly stands out. I liked the voice actors, nothing was out of place. There are even a few Easter eggs on the soundboard.
Characters. Ima be honest with ya- We got about three seasons worth of character growth and learning to put into 12 episodes. In other words, it needed more to show characters grow. As for all the main female leads falling in love with the mc withing seconds(hyperbole) Yeah it feels fast, but that is some what mitigated when you see they put in a "Charm" stat which is for full comedic effect beyond reasonable.
Enjoyment. Aside from the times where I thought, It would be nice if we had a few episodes for this character to be introduced, or for this plot line to play out, and a few moments of other stuff going too fast, it was pretty funny and enjoyable.
TLDR I think what people are missing about this show is that it is an over the top parody, where the characters take their goals seriously. This show is not taking itself seriously but MC is. Everybody is a parody. Everything over the top is done on purpose. Everything Generic is done on purpose. Once I realized that, the show was really funny.

Ok This movie could be scored anywhere from 3 to 8. I scored it at 3 Let us dive into this....
Story, Does not matter. Is it a dream, is it a hallucination? Is it a story about a murderer who changed who she was to be her childhood friend she killed... who also saves her from sup phantom ghost bug world? Maybe honestly it does not matter. 3/10
-Also subplot Government bad(Human experimentation), Modern medicine bad(Magic bell solve all problems).
Art High detail low frame rate. Some of the scenes are very pretty. Most are just grungy, but that was their goal. Art direction is good. 8/10

Once you get over the fact that they added in camera shake for still frames of animation it goes over well.
Sound was pretty good. I never had any problems with it. 8/10
Characters... There is almost no character growth. There are like four talking characters the entire show. Honestly nothing to write home about other than HOW DAMN METAL RIN turned out to be.
-I(Rin) am stuck in a hole the only exit I see is well above my height, BEST DRAG THESE BODIES OVER SO I CLIMB UP THEM AND OUT." Like legit 10/10
Enjoyment. Too slow. Too much why? And not enough commitment to plots. Though I did enjoy it myself. maybe a 6-7/10
I honestly do not think the average viewer will enjoy this. I dig it. The movie has some pretentious feeling but I think that is just used to pull attention away from how little budget/work might have been available.
If I was a company hiring people based *soley* on a personal project that ended up like this I would totally hire them. Even if the story is seemingly all over place and still in limbo, it is still an impressive film.

So disclaimer. The only Earth language I speak is English. I watched a Russian Dub of this. Russians do not replace the original voices when they dub over things in my experience, and it holds true for the version of this I watched. On top of that there was no official English subtitles but auto generated ones. So it went like this Japanese>Russian>ComputerMumboJumbo>Possibly English>Whatever the hell I speak in.
Even with that amount of convolution the story is just a summary with maybe a few jokes thrown in. If you have to watch it do so, but by no means are you missing anything important

or life altering. The main series is good, go watch that though.
I give this Ova an 7 out of 10.
5 for recap story,
8 because the art is pretty good with only a few cut corners which is to be expected for this type of episode,
Character 8 as she sticks with it pretty well.
Enjoyment was 5 I hate recap stories almost as much as I hate the "court" episode, and unfortunately I sentence this episode to Dull and time filling. Good thing it was only a few minutes long.
Also TLDR? I wrote this so no one else would possibly waste time hunting it down thinking it was something more.

Maybe some minor spoilers? Probably not.
Story? a group of people are trapped on an island with giant insects... They try to survive. Great. Story is cohesive enough I never questioned the STORY events maybe but not the story, It fits a horror movie well. 7/10
-As far as I can tell it is based off of a manga designated as Horror-Echi/gore? But Theres not much echii in the movie, which I think actually is a benefit to it, as I would have not watched it had it been a full on H film.
Art, I never had any problem with it. The actual anime parts, Excluding

the CGI were well done. The backdrops were great, I legit could say some of them were art. The character designs were pretty good too. 7/10 (CGI is always blatant even when done well.)
-Whoever did the greenery on the trails... Perfect job I would consider your foliage art. Yes I did Notice this while watching.
Sound, I do not speak Japanese... So the voice acting could be absolute trash and I would not recognize it But i think they all matched their characters well. But Anything that mattered to a titles Reader was well done enough that I did not have to question.7/10
-That wasp sounds nothing like a helicopter. Either those people have no Idea what helicopters sound like or they were delusional after a plane crash and witnessing brutal atrocities. Probably the latter.
Characters. The characters are mostly just generic. You got Manipulators, Parasites, innocents, overprotective classmates, and Of course a Bug lover and Aficionado. Which I love the edutainment factor of it. The characters cover Echii, Horror victims, and Edutainment so 9/10 for the genre.
-Only complaint here is that they killed Hiker girl too fast. She seemed nice. -1 point.
-It should be noted, I actually liked almost all of the characters.
Enjoyment? All the way 10/10. This movie is Classic B Tier wonderment. You go in thinking, What can I make fun of here and you will be golden. Then it might get serious. And then you can go back to Laughing at it. I was caught up in the hospital arc, asking questions, What is in there, How are they going to survive? And then the glorious Hallway scene happens, I just broke down laughing over it. Halfway through I was wondering What is the point of this scene, and then I just broke out laughing again over it and I was able to repeat this multiple times before the scene was over and it is just perfection.
A few nitpicks.
- The soul of this movie is so B level. I can only assume they are doing this on purpose and I would argue it makes me actually like the movie more.
-Everything on the island Is practically Pristine. Everything. Like the pathways are not even overgrown, but the Light tower in front of the overly well funded Hospital Is just rusted like none other. It just does not match at all. Ruins my immersion yo.
-The science For giant bugs is not there, I mean The only explanation we have gotten is from a high school girl so there is not much to really complain about here? I say this as having read more than 1 Giant insect set media in my lifetime, so I think I know my Giant insect Science!
Oh and in case you are wondering.... That stuff with the ticks does happen in real life to animals who can not remove them. Ticks just do not get that big. 8/10 Realism.
-2 Because I hate ticks.
7/10 Rated Overall. Would recommend as long as you enjoy Campy nonsense, and can handle a bit of Flashing and gore. I enjoyed this movie and as long as you have a decent sense of humor I think you will too.
