---Nana is an outstanding anime. It has it's flaws and low points, it's definitely not perfect but boy, it is fantastic. ---
If you watched series that focuses on relationships of high school students or idk, middle school you're going to feel a bit annoyed and that cringe in some episodes because of the actions of the characters at least it happened to me. I love romance animes but they end up annoying me because it doesn't feel real and the characters are usually so predictable. After watching the same romance stories with predictable characters this is REFRESHING.
The characters are in their twenties or more,
...
they are more mature and the actions actually are relatable. The romance is definitely there and do you know why I love the romance in this anime, it's because IT MOVES QUICKLY. This is not an anime where you wait 20 episodes for two characters to kiss or confess! (I'm looking at you Toradora, Kaichou wa Maid sama and your kind)
This anime focuses on Nana and Nana (aka Hachi) and their relationship and their relationships with other characters and it is a ride. It is not overly romanticised, it feels honest and genuine and they are not fairy tale like. It tackles real and serious topics like depression, addiction, violence, sex, figuring how to live alone, surviving in society, finding friends and keeping friends, finding a guy/girl to love and cherish, jealousy everything you can imagine and they are the issues of our days still and it is still %100 relevant. This is not your usual shoujo romance anime, this is the real shit.
Art is not the best thing about this anime. I have no words about the character design because they are most definitely unique and true to their origin, the manga, I'm talking about the overall quality. This anime looks like it's from 1999 not 2006. It's from the same production company, Madhouse, and it's the same year as Death Note, Black Lagoon, Claymore and Monster and they are all great animes where the art is just outstanding but this falls short. I feel like they could've done so much better but good thing is it doesn't take anything from the actual story. Sound is amazing, I love the fashion and the characters, I love everything about it.
I can't go into how amazingly built these characters are, everything do has a reason and they're connected to something inside. You know their characters, you feel like you know these characters they become your friends and you get so invested you have to talk about it with someone or else you are going to explode so you go on to a writing a long ass review about it. Nana is wonderful regarding characters. They have flaws they are not perfect and they are not who you want them to be. You will get angry at them and be disappointed but that is because they feel like they are real characters they are not perfect. No one is perfect in this world and that's why these characters are actually perfectly imperfect.
My overall enjoyment is over the top, I love this anime. I love it more than I loved my other romance favourites like Clannad and Guilty Crown, this tops them easy and I don't think I'll get over this anime for a couple of weeks now, or more.
I feel like everyone should watch this anime, you will get bored a bit at times and you will rage because of how stupid some actions of some characters are but it's worth it. So go download it or buy it, it's worth it and enjoy it.

"I am a Studio Ghibli movie."
I must say that I've found this movie somewhat boring. Art is what you expect from any Ghibli movies and story is just OK. Sound, it's barely memorable and characters are again, barely memorable except that fisherman guy and Marnie. But why?
--Story--
NO SPOILERS AHEAD.
Our main character goes to her step mum's sister's house (Is that even true I can barely remember who that lady was?) and starts seeing a ghost. This is the story of that ghost and the character. Who is that ghost?
When I was watching this with my mum we had our own theories which was
...
not correct and that is the only reason why this story isn't just meh. I liked the fact that it was somewhat surprising. I feel like they could've done better with the story and just decided to do a movie that will be out there and not recognized. It is definitely, DEFINITELY, emotional in the last quarter of the movie because of Marnie but just being emotional isn't enough to make a story great. I was a bit disappointed.
--Art--
Art is generic Ghibli style, same character design that we saw bunch of times which is not bad at all. Great surroundings, stunning views. It is not outstanding but it is very good. I feel like after seeing the same style over and over again it kinda gets boring but that doesn't make it bad. IT'S STUDIO GHIBLI, ART IS ALWAYS GOOD.
--Characters--
Ok, if you ask me the most memorable characters were that fisherman who has like 3 minutes of screen time, Marnie and the little kid that moves into the mansion.
As you can tell, I am not good with names.
Main character is a bit annoying, she definitely has some understandable issues but she is not memorable at all. Only reason why she would be memorable is the Marnie's effect.
Marnie is a great character in my opinion, well thought has a great story and she is just charming. She really saves the movie.
Other characters are also quite good my only problem was with the main girl, I really didn't think much of her and she came across as a not well thought character for some reason and it's sad because she is the main character. The movie only got better when they introduced Marnie to us in my opinion.
--Final Thoughts--
If you have free time and you love Ghibli movies watch it. You will enjoy it, but it is neither great nor a masterpiece. It can get a bit boring at times but the ending is amazing. My favorite parts were in the last 30-40 minutes. I think this movie is a solid 8 because of my respect to the art and the emotional ending, I feel like ending kinda saves the movie and my emotions are overruling against my logic.
I rate this movie a borderline 8 and think that this amazing studio can do way better. Hopefully their next movie will be better.

This review does not contain any spoilers.
--Story--
First of all, when I downloaded this anime I didn't look at the plot. I usually download animes regarding their score and genre and this looked quite good, had a good source to watch it so I decided to try it out. Watched the first episode and I was SHOCKED.
IT IS AN ANIME ABOUT FARMING? I LOVE IT. Despite the fact that this anime is an, well anime, it feels beyond real and raw. I've never seen a farm or any agricultural facility in my life and this was eye opening. I knew about slaughter houses and generally
...
basics of farming but seeing how hard it is and how much effort and thought goes into it in the eyes of an anime is amazing.
My thought through out can be summed in one sentence. "I wanna be a vegetarian but meat is just too good."
--Characters--
One of my favorite things about this anime is how easy it is to relate with the main character, he is human, has feelings, doesn't have any experience with the field and he's just a teenager trying to figure out what to do with his life. He is trying to be happy and find a dream. That is so easy to relate and it makes it so easy to immediately like the guy.
Other charecters are also well thought and has their unique personalities and you end up remembering them at the end of the show.
--Art--
Art is in my opinion pretty generic and a style that you can see in a lot of anime series. The animals are cute, people has their unique styles and the surroundings are also good, they are not great but they are definitely not just okay either. It's enjoyable and you don't end up thinking well it could've been better which is just enough.
--Sound--
Except the opening and endings which are just fine, not memorable, the general score is also not memorable but sound is not the thing they clearly focused on and I didn't really care about it either so It's fine.
--Final Thoughts--
My overall score is going to be 8 because it's a show that I'd definitely recommend and I enjoyed it a lot. It's a nice escape from that action fantasy genre that's everywhere and classic high school slice of life romcom dramas. So if you're looking for a good enjoyable and quirky show this is your show!

As a person who loves slice of life, romcom animes this series was really a disappointment for me.
After all the recommendations and "This anime is a great romcom!"s, I was looking forward to watch it but I ended up with a OK anime.
First of all, I gotta say that art&sound is really good, from first to last episode but sadly art&sound itself can't save a show. Storyline is quite simple, male protagonist has a teenage life crisis and meets a girl who's gonna change her life in high school. But what's wrong with that storyline right? It can still be good! But the problem is
...
in the characters. It's like they followed a anime storyline chart.
-Stupid, quite useless but girl's favorite male protagonist, CHECK. [Sorata]
-Soft, kind, cute female protagonist, CHECK. [Mashiro]
-Tsundere, CHECK. [Nanami]
-Playboy, CHECK [Jin]
-Noisy, energetic, extremely positive girl, CHECK [Misaki]
-Anti-social, cocky and isolated boy, CHECK. [Ryuunosuke]
-Sexual teacher, CHECK. [Chihiro]
-Sister with a crush on her brother, CHECK. [Yuuko]
I gotta say Mashiro was my favorite character because I simply love soft, neutral, naive characters. Nanami & Mashiro are probably the most complicated characters in the show, but we see no character development. It's the same with every character.
And male MC is just annoying and the show would've been better without him.
In the end, it's a watchable show but I wouldn't recommend it while there are better school romcoms out there. It's quite average but if you watched the best and the good ones and now you're looking for an another one, go for it.
