karekano: his and her circumstances is an appealing shoujo romance drama about a multitude of characters intertwined by their numerous circumstances. karekanos romance takes a different approach of maintaining their status as boyfriend girlfriend rather than giving more time for both of them to actually explore their love for each other. This is a good thing to implement in the story on account of most romances that tend to be dragging their story as much as they can. also, its not like being in a relationship cant develop the romance between characters. Being a couple can develop their romance even further since your partner is
...
the one you are most close to and overcoming trials and turbulence with each other would surely strengthen their bond. besides yukino and arima, there are other compelling character relationships, but most of them are likeable and relatable because of their flaws and the difficult circumstances or situations they are put in that we as an audience can empathise ourselves in fact of how real they seem.
The anime ending felt abrupt and rushed but the start of the anime was really good and anno hideakis chaotic directing, extensive portrayal of characters thought and emotions and heaps of symbolism seems to fit quite well with the series in spite of being a slice of life romance. unfortunately, the studio was running out of budget and the mangaka wanted it cancelled because it was veering off from the tone the manga had. you can also see a alot of effort was put in to the opening it looked really great the ending however were just live action shots of a school or something idk i skipped it.
I would highly reccomend this to people who are infatuated with character driven stories and shoujo romance fans.

one of the best anime movies ive seento date, it takes all the good parts of the series without the flaws and perfect execution with kyoanis superb animation, soundtrack, visuals(obviously). it started off slowly and it set up the perfect foundation for what came at the second half of the movie. you will be on the edge of your seat the whole time trying to figure out the reasons for these bizarre events and how they connect with each other. characters that dosent have much focus suddenly gain alot of development. one of the best 160 minutes i have spend in my life, the movie is soo

[spoiler free kinda]
showa genroku rakugo shinju, ive been having heaps of reccomendations for this anime and it did not dissapoint. there is a certain charm to it in the way it tells a story. unique and interesting characters, great voice actors. the scenes of them doing rakugo is where the VAs truly shine and the unique parallels between the two main characters, the progression of their friendship and rivalry as well as the bittersweet traumatic conclusion.
but what is rakugo?
A 400 year old tradition of comic monologue storytelling in Japan. A minimalistic performing art, rakugo features a lone storyteller dressed in a kimono. i guess this
...
was how the japanese people find entertainment when there was no such thing as animes or tv shows, i actually found the rakugo quite interesting and i can imagine how hard it is if i were to do it myself.
even though we know the tragedy that happened to sukeroku in the first episode, it still hit hard because of the time we spent with him and yakumo through the series.
i was too hooked and finished it in like 2 or 3 days, you might want to check it out if the anime might be for you, i also forgot to mention how good the music was and how it fits the scenes in the anime

ashita no joe is one of my favourite sports manga ever. when we think about boxing we think about stuff like hajime no ippo, rikudou and other boxing mangas. most of these mangas are inspired by ashita no joe and it also inspired other fighting manga as well. while hajime no ippo follows ippo being stronger through training and boxing with different people ashita no joe is a more character driven story that shows the consequences of fighting through life and death siituations.it manages to be something more than just a young kids rise to the top of the world.joe yabuki isnt like other shounen protagonists
...
and his character development is very well done, the series ended in a seemingly sad but perfect way.
The story may seem cliched with just an arrogant, cocky guy wandering in the streets and meets a dude that would change his life and make him rise to the top thats because most series are inspired from ashita no joe in one way or another.
defeating rikishi toru was his very first goal in life he found something he wanted to do, to commit himself to do, thats when he finally decides to agree to train with danpei tange and his boxing career begins
characters:
warning: some spoiler
Joe Yabuki
you cant talk about other characters without talking about the main character. Joe Yabukis development is one of the best and exceedingly well done. The journey of a kid that had no ambition whatsoever when the story commenced, gradualy turned into a narrative where he formed an fervent passion for a sport and the best part was that Joe was finally loved by people and found a place he could call home. i got rocky vibes while seeing what his his reason to fight was he is definitely better than half the shounen protagonists out there
Danpei Tange
Danpei initially just wanted to use yabuki to achieve his goals of being on top in the world of boxing. i would say the old man understands a part of how joe is, but he never really got to understand him all that much like his goals and motives. the more the story goes on the more we see how much danpei really cared for joe till he becomes a father like figure to him.
Rikishi Toru
The two first meet in the juvenile detention center, where he was introduced as a boxer who was sentenced to the juvenile detention center because he had punched an member of the audience half to death after they had claimed that the match was rigged in Rikiishi's favor, enraging him.Definitely one of the best characters in the series rikishi toru plays a very big part in joes development as a boxer and as a person. joe respects rikishi alot as he mentioned he might be the only person who understands him since the old man is just using him to achieve his goals. joe became rikishis motivation as we can see how hard he is trying to get to his weight to be able to fight yabuki in a professional boxing match
Nishi
there isnt really much to say about him tbh apart from being joes first partner but i wasnt expecting him to marry noriko though i actually shipped her with joe dammit oh well
Carlos Rivera
Also one of the best characters in the series 6th ranked world champion of boxing, handsome, playboy and he packs a punch as well. carlos was also someone he was able to trust. his fight with joe ended his boxing career since he had punch drunk syndrome after the fight till we know that it was jose mendoza who gave him that.
Harimau
this fucker just shows up out of nowhere while he was gonna fight jose mendoza. his wild side and animal like instincts is insulting my country since malaysians are not like this. there was really no need for me to mention him here
Youko
this girls weird. a wealthy girl and one of those characters is Joe who is the first to remark that her so called 'kindness' is completely fake, implying her sympathy for the poor is merely a way to make herself feel superior over those who have nothing to eat.She is often very shocked by his actions but as time goes on she comes to be the one who understands him best. i dont really think shes faking her kindness. and then she suddenly starts developing feelings for joe and confesses to him at the end begging him not to fight mendoza we can see how much she loves joe with her still seeing the fights to support joe even though she cant bare to see joe hurt
Art: 8/10
i dont really care if it looks outdated i mostly look for story. this is probably one of the downsides of ashita no joe the fights look wack sometimes but it kinda gets better. if you dont care much about how cool fights are you can read it.
It might come off as depressing and emotional sometime but thats just the stronger points of the series.I mainly read/watch stuff for the characters anyway so i enjoy any story thats well written like this. this shit should get a remake so we can have better animation no i dont care if its from the fucking 70s of anime nothing can be too old and we even got a remake for fucking shaman king and dai no daibouken
Ashita no joe has one of the best endings ive seen besides from code geass or clannad afterstory

warning: spoilers
monster is probably one of the best mystery/thriller mangas to ever exist even though it starts slow the pay off is worth it. thats one of the reasons why the manga can be better than the anime. the story follow kenzo tenma the protagonist of monster a neuro surgeon or sum. so this tenma dude has two lives in his hands. a little boy who got shot in da head and sum mayor guy. well ofc they told em to save the little kid. only to know that kid became a handsome as fuck antagonist mass murderer called johan liebert. Knowing this was tenmas
...
fault he must track johan and kill him.. this is where the story of monster starts
Why Johan Liebert Is The Best Antagonist
Most people agree with me on this, i also agree with myself on this. The more the story continues the more we learn about johan and his personality, why he kills. how he kills and his past self. they also gives us clues from the picture book "the nameless monster". i mean even da fucking nazis wanted him. there is also this special trait of him of making people kill themselves through johans psychological torture with just his words. very well written character if i do say so myself.the story of monster revolves more on johan than tenma. i mean tenma was aight but dang.. he planned everything all the murder and shit. mans a fucking monster.
i forgot to mention his twin sister anna which also plays a big part in the story from johans past and why he got shot in da head.theres also roberto which is an ass and lunge which i started to approve of when i was about to finish monster. . naoki urusaw makes amazing villians like johan or friend from 20th century boys. one of my favourite quotes from monster was "the only thing all humans are equal in is death". johan says this straight to tenmas face in the final part of monster. and we all know that hes a neuro surgeon. his job is saving lives as best as he can for him every life is equal. the question is if the life he saved seeks to wreak harm(joahn) . the question arises of how all life is truly deserved to be saved or not
For You, All Lives Are Created Equal. That's Why I Came Back To Life. But You've Finally Come To Realize It Now, Haven't You? Only One Thing Is Equal For All, And That Is Death.
The Ending Of Monster
tbh i thought the ending was rushed so my weak ass brain decided to watch analysis vids to understand how great the ending of monster was. and yes it was pretty much incredible. yes, the massacre at 511 kinderhelm. johan planned all the murder everything.. even his own death. HE WAS PLAYING THE FATE GAME its the game mentioned in the earlier chapters to see if hes truly chosen by fate. grimmer died. lunge died, roberto died.. etc hes going to see if everything goes according to plan like it always has and some miracle made him alive somehow or he would die its a W for both tbh since he wanted to suicide. he says the quote i mentioned right when tenma was gonna kill himand does the forehead pointing thingie. he only does that when hes sure hes gonna die iirc. but then mfing nina comes out to stop tenma from shooting so he actually had to threaten to shoot the kid so he could die. and the father of the kid took out his gun and shot the man W johan died or did he.. yea tenma saved him lol cuz he sticked with his beliefs that every life is equal.
theres also a continuation in light novel called another monster which tells us he is living a peaceful life now i think
the philosophy of monster and the question of life and death truly makes it a masterpiece still read/watched by people till this day..
story: 10/10
art: 8/10
suspense: 10/10
characters: 9/10
enjoyment: 9/10 cuz it hard to understand at first had to reread it
