Ah, Naruto Shippuuden, what could have been a great sequel to the amazing show that was the original Naruto. Now don't get me wrong, Shippuuden was fantastic up until Post-Pain. The writing was fantastic, several plot points had been tied up and closed, and the Akatsuki were essentially reduced to nothingness. But in that lies the problem. After the Pain arc, not eliminating the Akatsuki by leaving Obito alive dragged the story for the next 260 episodes, with a near infinite amount of filler in between. And when we finally get to the meat of its ... climax during the War Arc, Madara is suddenly trashed as a character, betraying Obito, ruining a Madara vs Hashirama matchup, to symbolize the passing of the torch to Naruto, who should have fought Obito alone, as Obito is essentially Naruto if he failed at his life. To make matters even worse for Shippuudens writing and enjoyment, the notion of a character we had no foreshadowing of in Kaguya emerges. Kaguya or the Otsutsuki clan were not described until the SOSP had bestowed Naruto and Sasuke his power, detracting from the severity of the situation. And the wrapping on top, Neji. Oh, Neji. Why did you have to die? There was no reason for it in the story. The only reason one could think of is to kill a character the audience was attached to in order to bring interest back into the arc, when in fact it did quite the opposite. Ultimately, Naruto Shippuuden is like a cake. One that was prepared well in its prequel of Naruto, only to be left at too high of a temperature for too long in the oven. A total wreck.

The best story ever told. The characters are all built into a fantastically magically appearing world, all interwoven together with Oda's brilliant world building. Little by little his world is more and more enchanting and haunting to the reader, whether it be from a backstory or a new island to explore. The amount of highly detailed art that is drawn onto an 18 page chapter every week for the audience to read is simply incredible, and I doubt any other mangaka could do the same as Oda does. Can't wait to see how you will finish the story Mr. Oda.
