Conceptually very interesting but the execution could use work. I feel like it gets better through the season though. The concept itself is honestly pretty unique at least in the way the idea works. Using ex convicts to enter the mind of other ex convicts to solve crimes, with an added twist and a added mystery element. The problem comes to the drawing and the writing of the dialogue. The animation is good. it doesn't suffer from the single frame that pans problem, the animation is actually pretty good, but for the characters on each individual frame, the characters are miss drawn in perspective most ... of the time. Some could argue it was intentional and stylistic but really it just looks like the animators don't know how to draw people in perspective. The backgrounds are very well done actually, and the entire intro sequence looks gorgeous which would lead me to believe that the drawings in the anime would be just as good but they didn't meet expectations. The writing for dialogue was just not there. The voice actors did great but the dialogue sounds like the kind of dialogue amateur book authors write, the style of dialogue you might read on watt pad. The writing also suffers from the all too common "exposition dump" and "telling rather than showing" tropes that you find in normally beginner level writing. I feel as though the writing did get better about half way through the anime though. I guessed the identity of the mystery person in the first couple episodes but there is a twist somewhat separate from the mystery element that I was kind of leaning towards but didn't fully expect and it played out somewhat differently than how I expected it to though which pleasantly surprised me. Episodes 9 and 10 actually started to pull on my heart strings slightly, although maybe that's just the empath imagining the emotions I would be feeling were I him in that situation. Episodes 9-13 really brought it up to a 7 for me from a 5.5-6 before. I think the end really ties everything together better than expected and they stepped it up.

Ok, listen. I am a sucker for power fantasy. The more absurdly overpowered the MC is, the better. Holy shit this delivered. Does it have the best characters, no. They aren't the worst either. They do have some character building, and the two main side characters do have their own little character arc, but they are pretty flat and generic characters. Main character. Really is just everything you want from an OP MC but that also makes him 1 dimensional and flat. The story is decent. It actually has some mystery elements to it. But I came here for the absolute bad-assery of ... the MC. The next part is going to be some examples of things that the MC does just to show how overly badass the MC is, so slight spoilers, but it is still definitely worth watching just to see these scenes happen. Also I am going to try to keep them as vague as possible. Continue at own will.

Like in the first 2 episodes he winds up in a duel with this standard 1st episode wannabe badass, and he literally snaps his fingers and fucking obliterates this kid. Then he resurects him and snaps again completely annihilating this man, and repeat until the kid admits defeat. Like holy fuck. I was so hyped. It had me on the edge of my seat ready to watch him destroy his next opponent with more than ease.

He can use the dark forgotten magic of teleportation and uses it to just run up on people he's facing. In one episode he has to break into this castle. They have their defenses all set up and everything. He just teleports in and says hello. like damn. He defeated this massive fire energy ball looking ass spell with the weakest fire bolt spell, just because he put like .01% of his magical energy into the spell.

In episode 7, its a super tense moment between him and another character and the other character goes to cut off his head so instead this absolute UNIT of a main character blocks the sword with his arm, and then fucking shoves his other hand into this mans chest and attempts to crush his heart! Not using magic or anything, not like passing through his body to reach his heart, no, with shear brute strength just fucking pushing into his body through his skin, ribs, just penetrating his chest with his fingers through his immeasurable strength. I literally grabbed the arm rests of my chair and clenched them so hard. I started to lift myself up out of my chair. HOLY FUCK that was the most badass feat I have ever seen in any form of medium.

So ya, if you like power fantasy and like those examples, go watch it for your self. you will be doing yourself a favor.

I really loved this anime and had a great time watching it. I really like anime that have extremely overpowered main characters, mainly because watching them flex physically and metaphorically on their opponents just gets me super hyped. It doesn't have amazing character development although it does have some. Its very plot driven you could say. It doesn't really have that many side characters, and it just focuses on the main characters journey. It was refreshing compared to all the other shows that have lots of side characters. Out of the 110 anime i've watched and am currently watching this on still stands out to ... me, and deserves more attention than its getting.
