(Don’t read if you don’t want spoilers Ill try my best to not spoil but I don’t know if I’ll succeed)
Also I have not read the manga I am an anime only reviewer and this review covers episodes 1-3 of the anime
This is my first ever review. I usually give series a very high score compared to many other users on MAL and that is because I don't believe in having an average score of 5 or less while still saying you enjoy watching anime. no Yuusha so far has to be one of the worst things I've watched.
Story-3
I have not read the manga of shield hero but from the things I’ve heard I know there is cut content. To be honest though, I already knew there was some cut content from before because the story was pacing so quickly and just felt so rushed that it didn’t make sense. I feel like the spirit tortoise plot point is meant to be a huge part of the story, but it’s so rushed that I just don’t get engaged and I don’t really care about this section of the story as much as I did for the first half of the story last season. I’ve heard from other reviews and videos on this season that ‘The Spirit Tortoise arc is bad in general’ sure that may be the reason but why would the studio make it even worse by cutting content. The story just doesn’t make you engaged, it doesn’t make you care for the characters or anything that happens in front of you and as a result, it isn’t a good story so far.
Art-4
Does anyone remember the Wit Studio’s colossal titan? Well the studios behind season 2 just made something 10 times worse.
I seriously don’t understand how the animation from season 1 can be better than season 2 considering the same studio from season 1 is making season 2 but not only that they added a second studio to help them.
Now moving on, the CGI on the ‘spirt tortoise’ is the main talking point so far of the entire anime season but we all get it now the CGI looks like it came out of Roblox’s game engine with poorly rendered textures etc. Although, that isn’t the only issue, the animation looks as if it was rushed. There are no special details there is nothing that makes you want to applaud the studios behind this season. It is just the least you would expect from the studios and therefore it is just below average and not good compared to the last season.
Sound-8
There isn’t much to say about sound. The opening is good, the composer is excellent, every bit of background music is just top notch. The voice acting is pretty good. Overall great sound quality.
Character-3
Season 1 of shield hero had every character but Naofumi and a few other exceptions just being overly stupid cliché characters leaving you to only really root for a small portion of characters. This season I haven’t seen enough to say how characters will turn out- whether they will develop or just stay as they are. This is because that usually happens at the later part of a season so I can’t say that much about the characters but…
The introductions of new characters were awful you don’t feel anything for the new characters and that might blend into the story part of the review. Just feels rushed yet again that is the word that this season should be described with so far.
Enjoyment-4
If every episode will be like the first 3 episodes, then I would just drop it immediately but as of right now I’m just not sure. If you aren’t looking forward to next weeks release of an anime that you enjoyed last season, then something is obviously has gone wrong.
Overall- 44% (Conclusion)
From episode 1-3 this anime is just awful. Animation is just rushed story feels incomplete characters are just boring and the only good part of this season so far is the sound (the section with the least impact in anime) If it doesn’t improve then the series for me will be ruined. I hope next arc is good and it is just a problem with the spirit tortoise arc
