Hello! This is my first review so here we goooo~
Story
Magic-Kyun! Renaissance is about a girl name Kohana who enters a somewhat-magic-like school with the power to arrange flowers. Her mother used to go to that magic school, so she wants to follow her footsteps. At the school, she comes to meet boys who also have abilities that show their sparkles. And by sparkles I mean that the "magic" is to see sparkles illuminate whatever activity that individual is doing. It kinda shows the power behind how good they are at that specific thing. Kohana's sparkles come from her arranging flowers, but the twist is she
...
has trouble producing her sparkles even though her mom is a sparkle prodigy. A unique concept, but not enough to escape cliches for reverse harems.
The first episode was really predictable if you have watched any reverse harem before. By all means, I did not hate this because I gobble up every cutesy cliche thrown at me, but it's just not all that original.
Characters/Story
I mentioned that there were boys with sparkle abilities too right? Yeah, they all take on the same old, same old reverse harem characters. You got the I'm a humble kinda rude, but is rude by trying to teach you the way, King dude. The really loud and outgoing dude. The quiet reserved dude that doesn't like anything new. The bro that helps every person out. And the magnificent ladysman that has long hair and seduces women through his charms. Aannnnddd the quiet dude that is kinda weird, but in a funny sense (Think Hades from Kamigami No Asobi) IT'S JUST REALLY ALREADY DONE KIND OF THING!
But thank the lord for one thing, the main protagonist is not a Yui from Diabolik Lovers. She actually has character, but still not an amazing amount. Her personality consists of doing the right thing for others, a hard worker, and an overall caring girl. So it's still not all that original.
Overall score for Story
7/10
I did mention the characters in there too. So character scoring would be -
7/10 (Even though those types of characters are done a lot, it's done for a reason. And that's because they work perfectly for reverse harem stories.)
ART
The art is nice! It's not something really amazing or anything, but the characters look angelic ^-^ The animation is smooth and is up to date for 2016 standard. What the animation and art really shines on are the SPARKLES! MY GOD DO THEIR SPARKLES LOOK FABULOUS!! I WOULD WATCH JUST FOR THE SPARKLES TBH.
Overall art score
8/10 but I'll make it 9/10 just for the sparkles ρ( ̄ヘ ̄ メ)
MUSIC
.-. The soundtrack is pretty good, but I was not expecting a Dance With Devils vibe for this anime AT ALL (musical kind of style.) I just remember hearing the beat drop and a song come on for their accomplishments. .-. Idk, I thought it was funny, I mean the music and composition was top notch and catchy, but I was really taken aback xD So if you like characters singing about what just happened I'm betting you'll like the music aspect the most!
Overall music score
8/10
I'm sorry, I'm only on the 5th episode so I can't really make a good call from here, but I'll still give it my final rating! -Summary- Story is not that original along with the characters, but still fun. Art is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, but not something to be praised. The music is nice and doesn't feel out of place from the original feel the anime was going for.
Enjoyment
I believe the target audience for this type of anime is reverse harem lovers, so I'm 100% that reverse harem lovers, like myself, will crazily enjoy this anime. Idk if any others would like this type of anime, but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For reverse harem lovers
10/10
For a curious fellow
6-7/10? (idk idk idk idk it's all down to preference)
OVERALL RATING
7/10 (It's okay, take a look if it fits your needs :D)
