Some people here rating this show badly because of the content as if the title didn't exactly tell them what they were getting into beforehand.. I feel like that has severely impacted what the actual rating should be, so I will rate it slightly higher than I think it should be..
Technically I think this should be an 8, not a 9, but I'll make it a 9 to hopefully offset some other narrowminded people, or at the very least because it makes me slightly salty.
Now, as for the manga, I don't think I ever went from "Oww", to "Eww", to "Aww" that quick.
The further you
...
go into it, it actually gets wholesome, and dramatic, something that wouldn't have been possible it they had slapped the "step" sticker onto it.
We all know that meme, the slapping the duct tape on the leak ad with the word "step" in the caption.
Well, I mean we all understand it's fiction right? So trying to be edgy and shocking while slapping the word step onto it in hindsight is cowardly to me, in this case the author did not, he fully committed, and it made the story that much more interesting and dramatic.
If only people would just step out of their comfortzones, separate fiction from reality, and keep reading even though the back of their minds is telling them "Eww", eventually they'd get to the "Aww".
Unfortunately it seems not everyone is able to do that..
I for one find it a very compelling story so far, one that is not afraid to commit, and doesn't feel the need to grasp for emergency ropes such as "step" or "adopted", out of fear for public opinion, and it makes for better storytelling in my opionion.
Do I think this would be okay in real life? No. Just like I don't with many other fictional topics, hence the word fiction.
Edit:
Soo, I finished the whole thing, and I gotta deduct at least a point, first there wasn't nearly enough outrage, it seemed weirdly unnatural, the friends were instantly over it and accepting, so was the mother, also there was one particular person (I won't spoil it) that knew, but didn't seem even slightly disturbed, not even surprised, and there was this weird thing about playing games or something that was just brought up every time as if he was some sort of casanova because he was good at videogames, which makes no sense but also was written in a way that just seemed very forced.
I think in the end I'd give it a 7.6 to 7.8, so rounding up it'd be an 8, which is still very good

First things first, I'm not someone that normally watches romantic stuff, it is just something that doesn't easily grab (let alone hold) my attention.
This one however, was pretty good I have to say, maybe even very good, I mean if it managed to keep even me, someone who's often accused of having the emotional range of a caveman, entertained throughout, it's pretty good.
Is it very basic? Yes, it is, the story and the characters stay very down to earth, and therefore imo somewhat relatable albeit a bit boring at times, but that just comes with the territoty.
If you're looking for something "slice of life" but
...
aren't interested in something that resembles a kids' show, then you might enjoy this.
HOWEVER.. I have but 1 gripe with this show, and 1 gripe only.
It is though a gripe that annoys the F out of me, and basically makes the entire story (very minor spoiler alert: it is what causes them to first interact) impossible right from the start....

I disagree with most premises here that the incest is the problem.
If anything it's the only thing that they copied from the homework of others that hasn't been done to death at this point.
However, not even THAT they put any effort into.
They could've gone and made it shocking like Game of Thrones did, but nah.
Anybody here remember the world hit wonder "Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?"?
Which wasn't just weird as fuck, but also annoying as fuck, boring as fuck, and unoriginal as fuck? Well this is that, except the mother is the sister, and it's somehow even more unoriginal.
I'll say
...
it, the incest was the only factor/angle that they could've used to their advantage had they made it shocking, it would've been weird yes, but it also might've made the show a tiny bit more intriguing, as it worked for got, but instead they didn't have the balls to follow through with it, and it just turned out to be a wet blanket, an overposessive sister and some lame harrassment jokes here and there.
I really don't know what kind of audience they're catering to here, but it looks like yet again some production studio shat on a storyboard and here we are again, isekai.

So, first and foremost, I absolutely love this show, it's refreshing, it's funny, it's just an overall joy to watch.
However, this special in particular is nothing but filler, the worst kind of filler, that is just copy pasted replays of previous episode highlights.
That's all it is, it doesn't add a new perspective, it doesn't add a new story, it's a replay, that's it.
Now anime studio's do this all the time, the gripe I have with this however is that we are only 6 episodes in, which means this is beyond milking it.
It's not worth your time to watch, it's literally a recap of the couple
...
of episodes you've seen for the past few weeks, the only episodes that have been released so far.
If the animators needed to take a break in the meantime then it would've been better for them to just release nothing, instead of this..

There is a lot of plot progression, and works perfectly fine as a prequel to the main story as it tells Megumin's and Yunyun's story before the main storyline that starts in season 1, and it starts to line up perfectly by episode 5.
It has not lost any of it's previous humor, the storytelling and writing is in my opinion perhaps even better, as is the animation and art.
It does perfectly well what a prequel is usually supposed to do, which is start off at a point where it's still pretty far from the main storyline, and then by showing the events that
...
transpire, show how that eventually causes the story to lead into the start of the main storyline, thereby not only adding more background to the storyline and characters, but also if it's good (which this is) add to the storyline as a whole.
Which obviously after watching only 3 episodes is not apparent yet, which seems obvious to me, but apparently not to everyone unfortunately........
This season carries all the things the main storyline did, that includes the story, and the humor that makes konosuba so great, so if you enjoyed that, I highly suggest watching this

Initially I thought, this is like harry potter X one punch man, with maybe a little black clover on top.
But the more episodes go by, the more I'm convinced that it is not just a blatant harry potter and one punch man ripoff (which it is), I'm fully convinced that it is actually a parody of both.
And an awesome and hilarious one at that.
That being said, there is also something about this anime, the art style, the humor, that reminds me of what anime was before every single studio out there was pumping out 10 of the same isekai everyday with the cheapest cgi imaginable..
It
...
is a concept that is funny, unique, and very well executed.
In my opinion I'd give it a solid 8.5, rounding up that would be a 9 (cuz we can't have decimals here unfortunately).
But, considering the average score of this show on here is in my opinion criminally low when comparing it to other shows of a certain "genre", I'm giving it a 10, not that that would make much of a difference but I suppose it's better than nothing and it's my way of telling everyone they're wrong, and this show deserves to be higher than an 8.
So, do you enjoy shonen anime? Do you hate cheap cgi? Do you long for a time when "Isekai with my smartphone" and "Vendingmachine isekai" weren't yet a thing? And last but not least, do you have a sense of humor, opposed to some of the other reviewers I've seen on here? Then you should give this show a watch, it's worth it

There is a fine line between wholesome and cringe, and this anime is the latter..
I watched this show because I really enjoyed The Angel Nextdoor Spoils Me Rotten, which was a very wholesome show, and among that shows' recommendations someone suggested this show, unfortunately as it turns out, these 2 shows are absolutely nothing alike.
This show is basically just one big long unlicensed ad for super smash bros brawl, along with a really dumb guide on how to fix social anxieties, as written by a true oblivious boomer.
Granted, I am currently only 4 episodes in, and am yet to start the 5th (against my better
...
judgement), so it's possible I might change my mind and thus this review later in time, however I have a sneaky suspicion that I will not.
If this show was AI generated, I would believe it.
Edit: I've finished the show, including the OVA's, nothing changed

Let's start the intro, end of intro.
There is a man, he is a Demon Lord, he is strong.
There is also a hero, he is also strong.
But the Demon Lord is stronger, so he reincarnates after 2000 years.
Oh no, there is discrimination now and classism, and now he is being discriminated against.
But it doesn't matter, because he is strong.
He makes friends, and they all die, but it doesn't matter because he controls life and death, and revives them, because he is strong.
He gets into a sword fight with a swordmaster, but oh no he doesn't have a sword, doesn't matter, because he has a twig and
...
he is strong.
Oh no, he cannot use magic in this *insert random situation*, doesn't matter because he can lift castles and mountains, he is also physically strong.
What's this? Has he just been outsmarted? No, because he outsmarted the outsmarting ones, he is mentally strong.
Now someone is going to die again but this time, he won't be in time, doesn't matter, because he can control time, because he is strong, stronger than time.
But, in the end, has fate turned out to be stronger, is that one random person truly dead? No, because he is stronger than fate, he's the strongest.
Is there anything he cannot do then? No.
This anime just goes to show, that putting all of your points into visuals, does not guarantee that it makes for a good anime, if the writing is done by someone with the mental capacity of a toddler

This is difficult.. Somewhat of a conundrum really..
I'm writing this review as a "generic" review spanning the Legend movies 1 to 3, as I've watched all 3 in a row, and I think this will apply to all 3 movies.
Now first things first, there is a lack of build-up in these movies compared to the show, but this is in my opinion rather normal, as it is not uncommon when trying to squeeze an entire season worth of content into a 1 hour movie.
The animation in these movies are very heavily upgraded from the original show, they look amazing, which was really the only thing
...
the show was originally lacking, unsurprisingly since they were limited by both the technology of their time and funds.
So, I can hear you thinking, that must be a homerun then, a jackpot, perfection..
Unfortunately no..
They did the one thing they shouldn't have done, they replaced the eurobeat music, which was an absolutely perfect match for high pace races, with some generic pop rock and punk rock music, that felt so very much out of place that it just sucked all of the excitement out of the racing scenes, which should've been the culminations of the movies.
It just doesn't fit, now I like punk rock music, but it does not fit the pacing, in fact, not only does it not add to the climax, it takes away from it so egregiously that something that could've taken the absolute crown, something that would've been an 11 out of 10, takes it down to a mere 8.
An 8 that is still fueled with a very heavy dose of fanboyism on my part, a more honest opinion would've been maybe a 6.5 to a 7.
Imagine someone bringing you the most delicious meal in the world, where every single ingredient complements the other perfectly, but then the chef dumps a bucket of mayo on top, that's what this is.
It could've been unbelievable, but it fell flat in the end.
I will still recommend it, but I'm doing so with a heavy heart, because I cannot help but wonder what it could've been

This is what you get when you order Rising of the Shield Hero on wish.com.
My god this was boring..
I was shortly hopeful that there not being a reincarnation would be a positive indicator, but alas..

The animation being "okay" and the music being pretty good is what might've saved it from being as bad as some other garbage like "Reincarnated with my smartphone" or whatever the hell it's called, but that was a true low imo.
This one isn't too far off though, the interactions and story are so unbelievably boring and predictive that there isn't even really any point in watching
...
it.
Honestly if you watched this and in earnest enjoyed it, I feel like you should rethink your priorities in life, this anime brings absolutely nothing to the table, I'd rather go watch some Naruto filler episodes than this.
How this can get even remotely close to a 7 on average is truly beyond me
I've had bowel movements more exciting than this
Edit:
I've just finished the entirety of the show, and have to take it down a notch from a 4 to a 3.
The animation was probably the only thing about it I assumed would be decent, however the majority of the show, probably roundabout 70 to 80% it just a static storyboard with aftereffects applied to it..
Even the small amount of cgi it has is just very short animations played on loop.
