Everyone has something to hide. Maybe it’s a past sin or a current feeling, but there are just some things we want left secret in the dark. But rarely is that wish granted. Wild Adapter and Acid Town deal with the shady underbelly of gangs and the drug industry. They are both gritty, dark manga with psychically and mentally abused MCs who learn that there are some things worth living, and even fighting, for. WARNING: Acid Town has yaoi sexual content which is graphic, but not overly anatomically explicit.

Who are you? For many of us we know, we are a friend, sister, brother, wife, father, neighbor, cousin, etc. But what would happen if that relationship was severed? What if we learn that relationship was never real to start with? Our sense of self dissolves as our bonds weaken. Yasha and Ilegenes: Kokuyou no Kiseki tackle family, genetic engineering, and self-actualization. What does it mean to be human, alive, loved, and needed? These MCs go through challenge after challenge, friendships and loss, safety and terror as they seek their answers.

Dangan Honey
add

You are going to need an antacid after reading Dangan Honey and Tsubakikan no Utsukushi Sugiru Garcon because their sweetness is 10x stronger than any cupcake. The male leads are extremely handsome and reserved guys who due to unfortunate events in the past now have crippling fear of women. Though they love their jobs, situations cause them to come into contact with women more than they are mentally capable of handling… but a young woman who respects (and maybe more…) them won’t let them fall down. Both are highly enjoyable and yummy, but the fact that Dangan Honey’s female lead is a world-wise and brave nursery school student takes the prize for the sweetest, fluffiest, and all around most adorable story.

Ten Count

Why do we like flawed and emotionally impaired characters? Are we naturally drawn to their weakness like motherly hens or do we see a part of ourselves in their struggles? I can't answer these questions, but I know that both Tsubakikan no Utsukushi Sugiru Garcon and Ten Count gain their charm from their imperfect male main characters. These characters have past scars and present debilitating mental issues, but they are inspired by the loved ones in their lives to work to change. These manga have some heavy moments, but the characters' struggles to grow will warm your heart. WARNING: Ten Count is yaoi and has sexual content of that sort.

Tsubakikan no Utsukushi Sugiru Garçon

The appeal of both Sekine-kun no Koi and Tsubakikan no Utsukushi Sugiru Garçon lie in their relationship-scarred, emotionally unstable, awkward, adorable, sweet, innocent, handsome, and just plain endearing slightly older male main characters. These manga will make the reader want to hug and console the characters as well as protect them, and we are lucky to see a few decent female characters who are able to offer a bit of that caring behavior as well as act as catalysts in the overall encouragement and growth of the males. Even though there are heavier issues and traumas in Sekin-kun no Koi and Tsubakikan no Utsukushi Sugiru Garçon they will ultimately touch you with their sweetness and often make you feel warm and fuzzy. These manga will leave you with one stupid grin that you won't mind showing.

Ten Count

Both are touching, sweet manga with handsome guys where one in the pair is afraid to scare the other with his feelings and the other is confused yet hopeful of their growing connection. Both have a touch of drama, but just enough to make the following scenes of comforting that much "ahhhh" worthy.

Both are heavily chibi animated with senseless humor and "useless" characters and that is what gives them their charm. Adorable and funny anime good for anyone.

Both manga deal with solving cases and has young male leads with traumatic pasts and a badass side that is hidden behind a smiling, laughing face. They differ in the fact that Wild Adapter has a slight shounen-ai vibe and a bit of supernatural mystery whereas Ouroboros is more "realistic."

AR∀GO: London Shikei Tokushu Hanzai Sousakan

Both of these have a similar feel and very similar MC. While both MCs do fail or get hurt sometimes, their strength and determination are undeniable and respected by others. When comparing the two, Arago is darker with more gore and Luck Stealer has more drama and romance. So, in summary the actual storylines/plots differ, but the MCs and "feel" are similar.

Strait Jacket

Strait Jacket and Tokkou share a somewhat similar theme of special units killing disgusting creatures which seem to have a love for dismembering people in a very bloody fashion. Both also have a dark atmosphere, but Tokkou has a bit more hope. Lots of fighting, blood, gore, and dismemberment... and decent stories/plot also.

Tiji-kun!? can be described as a shorter, slightly less intense version of The Breaker. Similar character traits and development as well as similar plot devises. Both are full of martial arts yumminess, dark undertones, and a mysterious mentor.

Strait Jacket

There are similar character behaviors and personalities along with a similar depressive, serious atmosphere overall. Additionally, the sci-fi-ish, science gone wrong backdrop is present. Besides the general plot being different: Strait Jacket is far more gory and Ao no 6-gou has a greater color scheme.
