It has been a while since a movie or show has made me cry, I certainly wasn’t expecting this bonkers anime to be the one to do it. It switches from comedy to drama at the drop of a hat. It does lean more towards comedy though, and it excels at it. Every episode is a joy to see what weird escapades they are gonna be getting into this time. And yet I found myself caring a great deal about the main cast and their lives. The final episode was a great way to tie things up, and after a very sad but realistic loss ... I found myself crying with a mixture of happiness and sadness with that final scene. It was a very fun and engaging time throughout.

Unfortunately this is one of those shows that peaks with the first episode. It started out strong with an interesting premise, then It quickly became generic and dull. I don’t mind a big tonal shift like they pull, but the quality sadly isn’t there afterwards. There is never any tension to any of the serious things that happen in all the later episodes, the main character is too powerful and there is too much levity for me to worry about what will happen. The comedy gets a smirk from me now and then at least. It’s not a terrible show, but it always leaves me ... wishing for more with each episode I watch.

If you're expecting a hilarious comedy like one punch man look elsewhere. Not one of the jokes lands in this. The main character is very dull and uninteresting. He is just strong and will use that to finish any task. It heavily relies character's reactions to tell you how weird and unexpected mashles actions are, just in case you didn't notice it yourself. Every other character is very flat and unremarkable. Any hope for a possible interesting plot to keep your interest is lost very quickly. The world feels like a generic magic land for the uninspired attempts at comedy to take place at. It's ... not even a so dumb it's funny anime, it's just boring and makes you feel bad you wasted your time on it.
