One of the best movie I've ever seen
BOANE premiered in cinemas on May 24th this year, and I've waited for a chance to see it outside of cinemas, especially with the high praise it got from those who got the opportunity to see it. Even with the high bar of expectation that was set for it, it exceeded it in all metrics.
Tight pacing, incredible composition, beautiful colors, fluid animation, wonderful character writing, and acting, and it all meshes in 1 hour and 45 minutes of absolute cinema. It is everything that you'd want in a movie. Everything that Cygames has done in the past is completely
...
outclassed by this movie, for it seems that they took what they've learned from making previous shows like Priconne and bangbangbravern and applied that knowledge to make this movie.
Will not go into details so that more people can watch this unspoiled, but I will point out my one nitpick of the movie is Cafe's slightly lacking involvement in the movie, despite being promoted as part of the main 4. This is a nitpick because she did serve her purpose in the narrative and theme of the movie, but I do think it is the time constraint of 1 hour and 45 minutes that causes this, however, this does mean that they managed to focus more on Jungle pocket and keeping the pacing tight, which is definitely the right decision.

I don't think this type of show is something that i would enjoy watching.
Went in with relatively high expectation into this show. Knew that this show would have a lot of drama in it.
My main issue is probably Nina, the main character, she just never clicked with me, and having the most important character in the show not be enjoyable is something that would make an experience much less enjoyable. This mostly comes from how impulsive and self-destructive some of her actions are, with little reflection from herself. With such acts being caused from both her personality and past bullying.
Normally i wouldn't mind this issue
...
too much, however, many such cases from other media does not prompt this act as a "be true to yourself no matter what." Which is what i have a gripe with.
The other characters however, are great! Especially enjoyed Tomo and how they handled a character that comes off as harsh on something that they are passionate about. Along with Subaru and her dislike for acting but goes to an acting school due to her parent's wish and how she doesn't straight up quit due to her worrying for her grandmother.
I did enjoy the concerts in the show, though i did wished they used more creative and cinematic camera angles than the fly around and rotating across the character camera that they used in the later concerts.
Episode 10 is great by the way.
Also another thing to praise is how the show gives subtle hints on what the characters are thinking, with characters that are more private such as subaru's care for her grandmother and Nina's father. This also shows in contrast with nina's head first character and how she usually says out loud what's in her mind, which i think is pretty cool.
This show should have had more than 13 episodes, as the final 2 episode felt very abrupt.
Personally i did not like their decision to just up and leave their agency because the band simply don't want to compromise with their ideals (Nina's idea). Even though the agency was willing to help when their song flopped and even create the compromise for the band battle that gives them a better chance.
The show looks good, love the animation, the OST is really really good imo
It all really boils down to my dislike of Nina's character really. I'd probably give this an 8 if i had like Nina to be honest, hell It gave a big enough impression that i would write a review for this.
GBC is not bad. and honestly, better than most shows, but i personally did not enjoyed it.

this is probably the first manhwa that got me hooked for a weekly release so there might be some bias. HCLW is an interesting one, the whole premise is a virtual game called lucid adevnture has taken the world by storm, to the point where in-game currency and items can be traded for real money. Our main character Ethan Gong makes a living from the game for a shady company and earns big bucks. Long-story short he climbed his way to become the first ranked in lucid adventure. loses his first ranked status because of a [SPOILER] and eventually gets turned into a slave to
...
grind money from level 1 again by the shady company he's working for.
It's a relatively common but interesting premise, almost like fast-food. Story starts off with him reconnecting with his "allies" so that he can regain his old level with a knife, at this point of the story I would just post pictures of him grinning like he's about to have 4 months of vacation with a text in bold saying "KNIFE", good shit. Granted, It's been about 2-4 years since i started reading this so the start of the series is a bit hazy, but i do remember some issues with perhaps the pacing(?). But what i do remember is that the characters really stuck to my memory, even some of the lesser characters. With the main character, Hardcore leveling warrior (I'll be calling him Ethan) being an absolute joy to read.
The star of the show is definitely the main character Ethan. He is honestly such a good character to the point that it's a crime that he's in this manhwa. You'd think this is a high quality coming of age story with how well written the development of his character is. It's actually insane how the writer managed to walk a tightrope on making his character to not be annoying before the turning point.
on to the actual manhwa, currently HCLW just started it's 3rd season (which honestly surprised me because i thought the story ended at season 2). Season 1 is the Ethan Gong story, the meat of the manhwa, where we get to know the main trio and how Lucid Adventure works [massive spoilers for lucid adventure]. On Season 2, the focus shifted towards the other two of the main trio, being Carter and Sora. Season 3 is [spoilers]
The worldbuilding of HCLW is honestly quite impressive, exploring mostly the "virtual" world and important aspects from the real world, but i won't delve too deep on it as I haven't read the manhwa in a year.
The art is an interesting point to talk about. You can tell which part of the story is important with how detailed some scenes are. I think the art is very lively, in a way. The real world has a slightly less saturated color than the "virtual world", but as time progresses they slowly start to look more or less the same, this might be due to story reasons but I'm definitely over-analyzing this. What i do love is that how you can see the improvement of the artwork in the manga as the story progresses, this is VERY apparent in the transition from season 1 to season 2. Kim Sehoon really said "fuck it, we ball" and proceeds to draw some of the most detailed scenes in the manhwa on the second season.
While i do love HCLW, this manhwa does have some glaring flaw, especially in the 2nd season. Ethan Gong is like that one friend you have on your group that makes it really fun to stick together, now remove him from the group and now you have a fun group that's not as fun as when he's around, this is the issue with season 2. Even though the other characters gain the spotlight, the story just isn't the same without him, and there's really no way to avoid this issue with how the ending of season 1 is set up [more spoilers].
I couldn't really fit this in the review but there are some serious stakes within the stories. This makes the experience way more exciting as Ethan's failure of recovering his rank and level would mean certain death.
TL;DR: silly "virtual" mmo with real stakes, great world buildding, nice art, and incredible characters. go read it if you love a cocky main character with a kind heart.

First of all, watching the original show is unnecessary to read this manga, but watching the show does help to give more context to the worldbuilding of the story.
Cinderella Gray focuses on Oguri Cap, a countryside horse girl who will go on to create a legend among her generation. Set before Pretty Derby, there are new characters that are really charming, along with several well-known recurring characters, such as Symboli Rudolf.
When I was reading this, I wasn't expecting to feel the passion that the characters have during their races. You know when you see someone doing their best on something that they love? That's what
...
it felt like when Oguri had her showdown with her rivals. When Tamamo Cross entered the zone for the first time and when Super Creek outplayed everyone. The mentor-student relationship between Joe and Oguri in particular is something that really shows the potential that this series has.
The ups and downs of an athlete, the stakes of high-level competition, and the aspirations of everyone competing with each other are really what differentiate Cinderella Gray from other Uma Musume works.
I may not know how to properly write a review, but one thing I do know is that you should read Uma Musume Cinderella Gray, as it is one of the most fun manga that I've read in a long time.
