I don't recommend reading this manga.

The series had a lot of potential in the beginning, with a strong focus on the development of the protagonist, Aqua. However, as the story progressed, I couldn't help but feel that everything built around Aqua's growth and evolution was ultimately discarded in the final arc. From the very start, it was clear that the protagonist was heading toward a tragic end, with the expectation that he would die. It was a narrative that seemed to be moving toward a bitter conclusion, but at the same time, it promised a deep reflection on the character’s life and death.

However, instead of ... following this tragic path, the author chose to develop Aqua in a way that made him someone who no longer had the desire to end his life—someone who found reasons to live. Aqua went through a process of growth, where he overcame his internal demons, and for a moment, it seemed like he might find a reason to keep going. This development created an expectation that he would move away from the idea of suicide, and it was interesting to see how this transformation happened throughout the story.

But when the final arc arrived, the decision to kill Aqua felt bitter. Instead of providing a conclusion that made sense with the character's growth, the author simply killed him off, despite everything he had gone through to become someone who wouldn’t make such an extreme decision. The ending, therefore, was extremely frustrating because it seemed to say, "Aqua overcame his struggles, but in the end, it still wasn’t enough to change his tragic fate." This is a huge disappointment, given all the work that went into developing him.

What remains is the feeling that instead of truly deepening Aqua’s arc and wrapping up his journey coherently, the author opted for a resolution that didn’t honor what had been established up until that point. Rather than offering a profound reflection on life and death, the ending felt rushed and lacked the emotional weight that could have been achieved.

In summary, I can't recommend this manga. While it had moments of great development and complexity in the beginning, the final arc didn’t do justice to what had been built. Aqua’s death, instead of being an emotionally impactful conclusion, left a void, as if the story didn’t know how to deal with the character’s growth and simply chose to give him an ending that didn’t align with his evolution.
