I didn't really like the first vol... And I don't think I will like next vols too (if I actually read them).
𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙨:
- The best part about this novel is that the author writing is amazing! It has very smooth flow to it, which makes it so addicting to read.
- It's core concept is unique, creative even and this will continue with the rest of the vols, 𝘣𝘶𝘵...
𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨:
- The execution of the core concept is okayish at best.
- Most of the twists/reveals are badly done, very rushed, not given inof time to feel them (these type of twists/reveals need a lot of ... time to be felt and get invested in them) .

The story picks up around 30% of the vol ig, and then it kind of goes well but then the twists and reveals were totally rushed, ruining the scenes. Taking another 50-100 pages to do right the twists and reveals and make the pacing a little better would have been great. As the writing is great so another few pages wouldn't have been a issue.
I was really curious about the next vols when I was in the middle of the first vol but now I don't think I will continue with the series as the conclusions for the plot points were rushed and lacked any feel.

Characters: Okayish... Not given inof time. Could have been better if more time was given to them. Some characters just come and go. Even main characters were not that deep. For first vol.. They're fine ig.

Story: Nearly 2-3 or even more plot points were running at the same time even though you might not know until the end (sounds great I know but isn't executed well, sadly) but they almost never felt fast but rather rushed.

U should give this a try and see if it's ur cup of tea, u might even like it a lot! And writing is great which is a plus😉.

Btw, each vol refers a certain novel (classics mostly) but it's not mandatory to read them to get the whole experience I believe (though luckily awhile back I read the book which was referenced in the first vol).

Banter,banter, banter, all the way through!!
Nearly 70-80% (if not more) of each vol consists of banter, word play, conversations (great ones) back and forth.
And the remaining part is story, that too with conversations mostly again!
And there's always a twist or two for every story.

So... If u enjoy banter, word play, quirky conversations, jokes, back and forth btw characters for mostly unnecessary things (but interesting) and great characters, then go ahead and READ THIS monogatari series!!(u can also read all of nisio isin,author for this series,books)

Story: Interesting, unique, always a twist(mostly)!

Characters: Amazing!! Different personalities, flaws, problems, etc.
...
Pacing: No pacing! Just conversations all the time lol.

Art: Almost no art apart from starting pages.

Highly recommended even if u watched the anime series!!
(I gave this 10 rating while reading this after watching the whole anime which I really enjoyed too and I always hate repeating stories but loved this! Infact u should try both anime and novel series!)

This LN is not recommended! But if u r still going ahead to try it anyway then I hope u hadn't read the synopsis coz if u did.. Then u have almost known the first 30-40% of the story (if not more as I read only 46% of story ig). This might be the case for many LNs, the synopsis might give away the first half of vol 1 but the difference is that this story is only one volume rather than 10+ volumes (for better or worse).

PACING:
The pacing is completely ruined by big descriptions of nothing important. I wouldn't read another novel by ... this author coz of how he writes, really. He goes into way too much detail (in a bad way) and that makes us feels like the story is not moving forward at all, then again, few authors do write into detail to make us more connected to story but here... It just makes us want to skip the para.

WRITING: Bad!! Too many descriptions (in a bad way) and big paras for no reason!

CHARACTERS:
We follow the story from 1st perspective i.e., from our MC perspective, he is an average mc, tbh, nothing special (even our MC admits that) though that's not a very big issue in itself but side characters r plain too. And the author tried to develop one of the side characters, which kind of completely failed for me. MC's friend is boring, nothing much to notice. Heroine... She seems okayish... Tbh, not that great (atleast till now).
But sometimes MC does think something outrageous and that kind of stands out for me.

Story:
Can't tell much as only 46% of story I read, till here... Boring (especially so if u read the synopsis).

ART is good.

NOTE: This review might change for better or worse if/when I read the complete story! I heard there was something good at the end... But the author's writing is totally not for me. I might try the movie. Heard that the movie skipped few details and I just can't shake the feeling that it might actually be for the better after reading till here...
