World Trigger is BACK and honestly better than ever. If you watched and enjoyed season one, you will probably get some form of enjoyment out of this one.
(Edited now that I've completed it) TLDR: This season is near perfect and is better than the original in every technical aspect, well worth a watch.
ART: I'm so grateful that World Trigger is being adapted into a proper 13 episode season instead of a 73 episode long running anime again, this allows for the plot to come at a steadier pace and the biggest improvement so far is quite noticeably the animation, it's a lottt smoother and

the action scenes move at a slick speed. Honestly props to Toei for amping it up this much, WT has genuinely never looked better, even the subtle improvements, like trion wounds changing from that obnoxious glowing triangle effect to something way closer to the manga, with slight dark trion-blood and the limbs of trion bodies being visibly torn off and punctured adds to the tense nature of the fights in the beginning arc of season 2. The first 4 episodes generally went by so fast and felt like they covered a lot of content in part due to this more quick-paced animation style, and imo World Trigger is best adapted in this style.
Edit: The rest of the episodes were tight too! Focusing more on the Rank wars and our main cast that we've come to know and love, as well as introducing several new squads (most of whom I honestly wanted too win more than Tamakoma, sorry not sorry). The B-rank battles were done so well, animation, tactics and all. I'm still shocked that the same studio that did the last season put this out, they outdid themselves honestly.
SOUND: In addition to the fluid animation, the OST has seen nice improvements since season 1. The opening song is good, reminded me of an early 2000s shonen op, sung by TXT, a popular kpop group. The battle themes and individual character themes all feel more grand, especially the battle theme, very fitting in with the tense moments and fights.
STORY: One of WT's strongest aspects is its story to me, because it has so much potential to branch out. I'm glad so far season 2 seems to be keeping in-line with the expectations set by the story, I just hope that it will eventually do something to make it stand out as a great shonen anime. The season starts off with a bang and continues the hype well into a third of the way through, but we'll see how the rest of the 9 episodes play out, so for now, an 8.
Edit: The rest of the 9 episodes were great! More focus on Mikumo and the gang, gaining new strength gradually through experience and battle tactics was wonderful to watch over the rest of the episodes. The B-rank war battles were a necessary story component to develop everyone's battle skills, and Hyuse getting his rightful beginning to a character arc was nice to see. Without getting into any spoilers, I love the way the story is very clearly being set up, there isn't any bs power up or illogical solution to a problem, and I hope whenever the ball really gets rolling in WT, the author has a lot of fun stuff planned. The confirmation of a season 3 right at the end of episode 12 had me excited because it did seem to end on a "middle of the cour" type episode, I definitely just wanted more. Regardless, I've said it before and I'll say it again, World Trigger is top tier shonen.
Characters: This is WT's strongest aspect to me. There are so so so many characters and all of them have depth and room for growth, as all of season 1 and the start of season 2 have shown. The show usually chooses a select few characters to give development in an arc, or just to show off their combat prowess, and the first four episodes of season 2 so far have delivered on both of those fronts. The large ensemble of characters can get confusing, because really there are a LOT, but I've only come across a one or two characters that I generally didn't like, and even then they have minor roles. So far we haven't gotten the chance to see Mikumo or the main gang, so I can't comment on them, but in due time. The characters we have seen have been animated flawlessly, fully realized, voice acted, and well written, especially Hyuse and Yotaro. Easy 10
Edit: All of what I said remains true, the main gang had plenty of screen time in the fights and the new characters introduced were all great, with like one exception idk, Katori was just kind of annoying without many redeeming features to me. Felt like a watered down Kitora honestly, but she wasn't enough to take any of my enjoyment away with the series, I'm sure even she'll get her own arc in due time with the way the story is headed. 10
Enjoyment: I watched all 4 eps of season 2 that are out rn in one sitting and I swear it felt like I just started before it was over. 10
Edit: Watched the rest of the episodes as they came out weekly, cant wait for season 3!

I have a lot of problems with this show, and 99% of them just go back to the MC so I'll go into that. On a technical level, Mushoku Tensei is fantastic. The art direction is beautiful, the OST is your pretty standard if a little above average fantasy themes, the animation is super fluid and I love the style that studio Bind has chosen to adapt. The worldbuilding is solid and the story has potential. Some of the side characters are entertaining, if one dimensional. That ends my praise for this show. The excessive and at times extremely off putting fan service really takes
