Durarara!! is an unpredictable, incredible, and fascinating anime. One that I'm sure you'll remember forever. You'll miss it after it ends and you'll want more as the story progresses. Why? Well, you'll see.
Story:
The story, it seems quite simple at first, as well as confusing. But the story is very well told and very unpredictable. It'll leave you with tears of joy, tears of happiness, tears of anger, tears, tears, and tears. You'll love it that much. Durarara!! has many plot twists but it never will confuse you too much. Everything will reveal once you get to really know the story and as it progresses. It's
...
unique, it's action filled, it's fantasy filled, drama filled, comedy filled, you name it. It's pretty much everything you want and need in an anime.
Art:
The art is an incredible aspect also! The city, Ikebukuro was a major part of the story, so it was also portrayed well in the art. The animation was great too, I don't think many frames were used over and over again. It suited the story perfectly and everything blended in as well. There were a few flaws in the animation, though, but they are hardly noticeable. Besides, whenever you're watching a good anime, you never really pay attention to the hardcore reviews and art/sound/enjoyment etc. You just pay attention to the story.
Sound:
The sound was great too! It was a nice touch to introduce the characters in the OP's and I must say, as a ROOKIE'z is PUNK'd fan, I replayed the second OP many many times. As the story progresses, the music did too, it fit into the story and suited it very well, that was good. The ending, it was great too! It suited the OP more than the story, nevertheless, it was spectacular. The voice acting was great and had much expression too. Especially with Kida Masaomi, in the Japanese Dub, Mamoru Miyano did outstanding. In the English Dub, Izaya's voice actor was hilarious and amazing as well. The sound, along with everything else, scored major points with me.
Characters:
Okay, well actually, this is like, the best part of the anime. No, everything is the best part of the anime, but the characters, they aren't your typical clique filled stereotype characters. They were original and unique, they were fantastic. Some examples? "I hate violence." Says the man who causes it the most. "I love humans." Says the one who taunts them the most. The characters, most were hilarious, but each and everyone, as much as you may hate some characters, really did suit the story. The characters also did develop throughout the story and there really is a distinction between the first episode of the characters and the final. Without one, the entire story wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't be the amazing story it is now.
Enjoyment:
At first, I was confused. I didn't know. But I enjoyed it. I enjoyed how it really did involve into a more interesting and original anime, I've loved the anime for a long long time now. I'm sure many other people will. There are some serious moments but they can quickly fade and turn into happy moments, but it won't destroy any part of the anime, which was great, it made everything a hundred times better. I've enjoyed the rivalry, the love, the uniqueness, the pretty much everything. It's incredibly enjoyable and very interesting.
Overall:
Durarara!! Is mainly focused on the story. Yet I've also learned many lessons. Reality is not something to be taken lightly, everyone has their secrets. Love has no bounds. Friendship is an important thing. It's something you can't live without. Sometimes you have to trust others. Honestly, there are many lessons in this anime. It's plot is simple but develops into something outstanding without anything have to be too complex, the sound is enjoyable and catchy, the characters were original and unique, the enjoyment was far beyond just enjoyable. It is an anime that you really want more of and will always be a part of your heart.
This is my first review, I hope it is helpful. ^^
