*WARNING MINOR SPOILERS, BUT THIS IS A GAG MANGA SO THERE'S NOT REALLY A LOT OF STORY TO SPOIL*
Why is it that every harem and ecchi manga must have their main character treated like absolute dog shit.." This was a manga that I decided to start reading mainly because I was bored and was looking for something that was raunchy and something more down to earth to read instead of masterpieces like Akira or 20th century boys, I was scrolling down the ecchi section on mangakalot and found this little cum stain and thought that the girls on the cover looked sexy. After reading a ... few chapters the ecchi hooked me in and I used it whenever I needed too get my horny fix. Unfortunately the ecchi died down after a while leaving me to turn my brain back on after I had sunk down into 40 chapters and saw that the manga that I was reading was dog shit. Before I begin ranting I want to point out some good things that I liked before I had a bad time.
1. The art is very good, not on the level of say, vagabond by Takehiko Inoue, but good non the less
2. The characters (while not always the best) had good designs and for the most part enjoyed when they weren't just mindless women, In fact my favorite character tsurade (or somethings like that) has incredibly large breasts which she hide with bindings which caused me to jump back in my seat with shock when she revealed them, it was a great idea that was sadly ruined by the weaker aspects of the series
3.Ocassionally there's character development, I know shocker, this is something that a lot of ecchi anime need more of, with character development it gives the reader a warm fuzzy feeling like hugging fresh blankets out of the dryer and falling asleep after a nice meal, one of my favorite examples is when in one chapter the main character is left out of a really nice room on a train (for reason of which I still don't understand) but after sitting for a while the girls who left him behind came back and decided to sit with him instead of the nice room, which was honestly a nice change of pace after the previous chapter made me feel like my heart stopped working.
Okay thats all the good things, now on to the dumpster fire.
1. I cannot stress how terrible one of the main characters are, Asami is a rich girl who is the one who founded the torture club and carries out all of the pain inflicted on the main character and sometimes the girls, however she is just the most insufferable piece of shit I've ever seen in a manga. Not only is she a complete ass to the main character, she is incredibly sadistic, that might fit in a manga about s and m torture shtick, but even when their not in the club he is constantly touring him and playing mind games with the characters which isn't even funny to begin with, it just makes me feel bad for him, one of the worst instances is when after the Main Character decides to actually be very kind to the main 3 girls, all of them text him and see if he wants to dance with any of them at the end of a school festival, then The Main Character didn't answer and was put on a cross at the bond fire and asami says how he "mistreated" 3 girls at school (which was just him being actually nice to the main 3 girls) and all of the girls believe her and they just sit their, whats worse is that she never gets anything done to her either, another time Asami dresses up as the main character and tortured the 3 girls, and when the main character walks in all 3 of the girls are mad at him instead. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
2. ALMOST ANYTIME SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO THE MAIN CHARCTER THE NEXT CHAPTER COMPLETELY DROPS THE STORYLINE AND PRETENDS LIKE THE LAST ONE NEVER HAPPENED AT ALL. It is insane how much the main character is put throughout the manga, he never catches a break and its always Asami that seems to rob him of any closure in his time at the club, Granted the character is a scumbag( well sometimes but I'll get to that later) but still he tries to respect the women in the club but still gets treated like shit even when its not his fault, even when some of the main 3 girls are abused they just right it off like nothing ever happened, The same thing goes with character development, anytime where it seems like someone is growing as a character the next few chapters completely ignore it and completely forget about it.
3. (I'll keep this one short) While MOST the main characters are good for the most part a lot of times I find them being inconsistent with how they act towards each other, that's all I have to say for this part
Whoo needed to get all of that off my chest. Overall this is a pretty bad manga while the art is good, the ecchi will get boring around chapter 45 or a little bit beyond that, characters are flawed but somewhat enjoyable. It's a gag manga so theirs really no story all that much. You could argue that all the painful stuff that happens in the series is because its about a torture club, however their is a fine line between sadistic pleasure and straight up abuse and this manga crosses it several times while still infuriating the reader. It's really sad how all this turned out, it could turn out to be very good later down the line since as of right now its still being released but the chapters we have right now as a whole are very problematic, I feel like this could work a lot better if the character are each given more time to develop as a character and can really make the reader care about them, its a damn shame to see how much potential this manga has thrown away by blatant smut and little to no focus on characters, hopefully the author boku will be able to clean it up in later chapters (note: I referred to a lot of this in pass tense but its still on going).
