People rating this arc a 2 or lower because its a recap of the moive need to grow up.

In the future, newcomer fans of Demon Slayer are going to have a choice: to watch the movie or watch this arc. Since this 7-episode series has additional content, I feel like most would choose this over the movie

Watching a full length movie isn't the most enjoyable option for everyone, a number of people would rather watch the Train Arc episode by episode. A full length movie can be tiresome. Episode by Episode allows people to pause in between and such. The quality isn't lesser and ... the additional content is a much appreciated feature.

So yeah, just keep in mind that this arc is a retelling of the movie but in an episode-by-episode format and that the only people who give it a 2 are those who've already seen the movie. Most fans at this point in time watched the movie before this series came out, but in the future people are going to be watching this series by itself instead.

I wasn't a big fan of Demon Slayer when I first started out, the 1st episode with his family could've been done much better in my opinion, but now that I'm invested, I'm going to give this arc a 10 all around.

Is Season 2 a masterpiece like Season 1? Definitely not. Is it bad? Nope.

The main issue is the transition from episode 4 to episode 5. One episode, the kids are running trying to learn to survive in the wilderness and the next they are walking around in demon towns in disguises. The reintroduction of Norman felt rushed and disappointing. His return would've felt more meaningful if he wasn't brought back 4 episodes after he 'died.'

Being an anime only, I thought they the author gave up on the second season or the anime skipped a lot of content. Reading about how they skipped an entire ... arc confirmed my suspicions. If you get past episode 5 and pretend it never happened, Season 2 is a pretty good show.

The take away: The time skip was extremely jarring and disruptive to the story and combined with the premature return of Norman, makes what's suppose to be the most meaningful episodes less enjoyable than they should be.

Honestly I really enjoyed it. I was worried the 35 year old man in a loli's body was going to be weird but you get over it pretty quickly and thankfully no lewd and uncomfortable jokes are made about it. Story's top notch for an isekai, art is amazing, sound is great (ending theme is straight fire). Over all I'd give it a 9.

This only thing that bugs me is Viktoriya's character design. It's so bad, and is the sole reason I didn't give this a 10. Beginning of the anime your immediately thrown into a very brutal representation of WWII. No mans lands, artillery, ... machines guns, barbed wire, mud, the whole shabang. It was ART until Viktoriya appeared. Right before a German solider gets blown to smithereens, in comes anime girl from Japan saving the day! What the hell? She looks so out of place! No other character has a design like her. Everyone, with the exception of Tanya, looks like a normal human being. Tanya's character model work well since she's a child and the main protagonist but Viktoriya's just constantly looks fake and out of place with her big skyscraper eyes and smooth featureless face. Her design kills the vibe and there's no way I could ever tolerate those sideways eyelashes.

Rant aside, I really fell in love with the show.

I watched the anime first, read the manga second. The manga is reads completely different than the show. I really liked both of them and even though they are vastly different, I can't really decide which is better. For example, the anime has a better portrayal of what Being X's is but the manga explains God's involvement and motivations better. If you really liked the anime, you should give the manga a read to see just how different things are.

Ngl, this show would be 10 times better if they dropped the whole isekai concept. It's so unnecessary! Like the story would be so much better if he was just a child of the gods instead. Plus it is super uncomfortable having the thought that this is a 40-year-old man when he's interacting with that little girl. The show is a lot better if just tune out all the stuff about his old life and world. The story is actually ok but the useless isekai ruins it.

Very cliche how the first people he contacts are the noble of the land. I think it would ... be far more interesting if he gained popularity through his skills and got noticed by the noble than stumbling across him in the woods. Feels like the story jumped the gun, going from a random country bum to living in the noble's mansion. While it's kinda unique seeing a good and fair lord, it's also boring.

The family is not interesting. All they do is praise the 'kid' in every episode. I like the idea they were going with that the protagonist hasn't been loved or praised in years and I got a little teary-eyed at the scene but then I remembered that this was a 40-year old man crying, not a child. Again, the show would be so so much better if it was an actual 8-year-old.

While the sound and art are good, like most, I watch an Anime for the story and characters and only go back to praise the less apparent details if I liked the show. This anime deserves a decent 4. Gonna keep watching it to see where it goes but right now I don't have high hopes. Let's see if they can impress.
