There's a lot of 9's and 10's on the review page for Witchblade so, if your looking for a review with a more opposed opinion here you go.
I actually like the initial premise for the story. The single mother relationship between Masane Amaha and Rihoko makes for a good plot device. There's potential for heartfelt moments and potential for moments of desperation but really, when those moments come, the aren't delivered well. The manufactured drama here just doesn't catch me enough. After the first few eps, the plot from episode to episode begins to fall into a cookie-cutter pattern. 5/10
The face value of the animation

is fairly average, though they seem to take more stock in Masane's big breasts and ass. The points where it gets bad is in the fight scenes. If you really liked this show, go back and watch the fight scenes in detail, they are so half assed and not fluid at all. There's always a pause in the fight for talking. Speed lines, bright flashes to replace the actual hits and slow motion where it's not needed don't help action scenes at all. 4/10
There's nothing spectacular about the sound in this show. I watched the dub and well, it was a really bad dub. The voice actress playing Masane has a nice soft voice but when she has to get boisterous and loud, it's more painful than accurate. 5/10
I find that Masane is the typical loud girl type and the only saving virtue is the Mother/Daughter relationship. Although Rihoko just like every other child portrayed in an anime. There's just very little personality, mostly typical acts and reactions. The supporting cast, to me, was also pretty plain vanilla. 4/10
The show had some potential but the end fell short due to a predictable, over done plot, over done characters, no substance, bad dubs, bad sfx, bad fight scenes. Overall 4/10

Okay, Halo Legends hmm. Hard to rate being a collection or ONA. Seems the ratings and reviews are all over the place and if you don't like halo to begin with, you probably won't like Halo Legends.
I am a fan of the Halo series, I've read some of the books and I own or owned all of the games but one. But I'm not so much a super halo geek fan that I approached this with a biased opinion, ZOMG!! ItZ Haloz!! AHM CHARGIN MAH...you get the picture.
I'm going to give each segment it's own overall rating:
Origins part one and two is first

up and it's a really good back story to the depth of the halo universe so, if you interested about the expanded universe the covers a lot. It's well animated and the narrator does a fine job as well. Not much more I can say about it I guess. 8/10
The Duel is just like one of those animes that takes itself too seriously. All the elites are now wearing samurai armor and it seems the Elite society is just like pre-modern Japan. Sure, maybe there's some similarities with Elite and Samurai code of honor but yeah...that's about it for similarities. Also I didn't like the ridiculous filter they used over the animation, it's like your watching it through a translucent glass window. 3/10
I feel iffy about the next segment, "Homecoming". It's well animated, great sound and the action scenes are well presented but it was more about two friends or lovers or whatever that were in the spartan program. It's all deep thoughts and memories. The MC goes to her former home to find she's been replaced. It's like when one of the gundam series (00, wing or seed) tries to do a heartfelt self discovery episode and it ends of feeling too manufactured. 6/10
Next is Odd One Out. I know it's suppose to be comic releif but ughhh. The Spartans name is 1337. He fights a t-rex then two super powered teenagers join him to fight a giant ape thing. Yeah, dbz fans, you can have this one. 3/10
Prototype is pretty good if you just want so damn action. Actually it feels like something right out of one of the games. The covenant come to steal some prototype technology and the commanding officer ops to use it in the fight rather than give it up. The visuals are exciting and like I said, good action. 7/10
I'm not sure why but the version I watched on Netflix didn't have the segment called The Package. Oh well, I'm sure it's okay.
Lastly, is my favorite, The babysitter. The baby sitter here is a spartan and the babies are the ODST, not that ODST are babies, more like reliable spec op badasses. It's not like the stories amazing though, it's just about the rivarly between ODST and Spartans. The animation is great and very lucid looking. It gave a very nice atmosphere, like I was reading it in a book. Actually if the writers and production house that made this took it upon themselves to make an animation adaption of the Halo book Ghost of Onyx, well, that would be damn alright with me.

An anime adaptation of Kurosawa's classic Samurai epic and this time around, most the samurai are giant robots, go figure. I knew this before even watching the show and I knew it was something I just had to get past though it still annoyed me a little, eh whatever.
As the first half of the show plays out, I'm really liking it. The villagers are in the city looking for their samurai and honestly, the city itself is a great character. It's a stark, somewhat stoic, contrast to 18th/19th century Japanese cities. Each initial meeting with each samurai is great and makes for good character development.

The score on the story begins to decline for me after the escape from the city and get back to village. I'm not even sure where to pin point why I feel this way. The scenes with Kikichiyo hurt my head after awhile. It seemed to drag on after they save the village the first time. The ending was too bittersweet with Kirara's decision.
The animation is very refined. I really appreciated it. My only qualm here is that the 3d animation used to draw the samurai marauder robots is going to really start looking dated. A lot people are saying the fight scenes look realistic. Realistic is a bit far fetched. A swordsman leaping 50ft in the air to cut a giant robot in half isn't all too realistic. I definitely preferred the fights that were sword to sword.
The characters are excellent mostly because they are almost mirror images to their inspired counter parts. Hayashida is my favorite, being very reserved and humble. The rivalry between Shimada and kyuzo give us one of the best fight scenes in the series. Shimada plays the part of the venerable and wise old samurai well. Another character I liked a lot was Shichiroji. His past injury and his woman make for great character devices.
As for the sound, not much to say other than good. I don't remember well enough about the music, that also means it didn't really make an impact on me but I do know all the sound effects were right on par. I watched the show with dubs, which were done very well.
The enjoyment was good the first time around, especially in the first 10 eps or so but I don't think there's a high rewatch value here so I give the enjoyment score a 7/10
Overall 7/10 and I wish so much I could give it higher. Just imagine the show as is, only the bandits are human and not giant robots and there's more sword to sword action.

One of the major prerequisites for me to liking an anime and to be able continuing watching more than just a few episodes is that I must like or at least be able to stand the main character.
It's been a long time since I liked an MC this much. Hei (aka the grim reaper) basically defines what it takes to have a secret identity; to be able to be one person - a well-to-do, somewhat clueless, quiet guy - and to turn around and be someone completely different - a ruthless agent of death tracking down rouge 'contractors'. get a well matured individual whose really just seeking the truth. When you witness him in action you come to realize this is a guy whose very good at doing what needs to be done. There's no epic fights or drawn out discussions.
The other characters in this series are well created as well, especially, the crew working with Hei. At first I thought they pulled the cliche with the talking cat, but there's a good reason for it and it adds for some good random humor relief. Huang, the older man, is another character I had to warm up to and eventually really liked. Kirihara is another good character which they really worked on throughout the whole show. Though, I don't think they made a big enough impact with Amber. Was she once Hei's love? How did they meet? What happened in between that S. America event and the time of the show?
The animation is above average. Thankfully there's no shortcuts with the action sequences and nothing seems to be recycled. I like how this is a show with super powers but unlike most, the super powers isn't the star of the show. The fight scenes are strategic, especially with the way Hei fights. Even if one of his knives miss...it doesn't really miss.
The story would be better if they explained more as to what the f*cks going on! By the end of it all I was kind of like "I think I get it...do I?" Animes have always been ambiguous with the 'why?'.
Overall 8/10.
