Impression Prologue (Hint: Probably Not Bad)
Shin-chan is, by far, one of the worst and best children anime that I've ever watched. Worst because some of the subject matters are definitely aimed towards adults who can probably relate to some of the things that are presented in the series (which I think have been going for 20 years?). Best because its funny...like your dick would fall out and you wouldn't mind funny
Shin-chan, as you may guess from the picture, is about a boy named Shinosuke. That shit kinda bothers me though. His Mom
...
is stingy and dad is apathetic and tired. Shin-chan gets a little sister after awhile in the series. She didn't exist at first, so she is more of an addition over time. She is crazy and perverted like her brother though.
Basically, if I want to sum up twelve years worth of history, this story is about Shin-chan who gets into trouble all the time. It's not just about the troubles. Sometimes, there are heart-warming moments, which are intriguing and incredibly memorable. Out of all the random shits that Shin-chan does, the story manages flesh out memorable plots (in a children fucking anime) that sticks in your head. The objective of the plot is following Shin-chan's life and its entertaining as fuck.
CHARACTERS:
Characters are silly funny. Let's just examine Shin-chan's friends, for example.
Tōru Kazama - your typical, stuck up kid who thinks he is better than anybody else in the kindergarten.
Nene Sakurada - your typical, double faced female kid who appears innocent, but in reality, she is da boss.
Bo Suzuki- Your autistic friend.
this show deploys IRL stereotypical characters and delivers a solid comedy by using unexpected and hilarious elements of stereotypes. This is something that adults can relate. The stingy mother and hard working middle class daddy is obviously the author's input into what a real family could be (or is). The happy going kindergarten teachers appear kind in front of the kids, but outside of it, they have their own RL problems. One teacher, for instance, has an unfortunate problem with "men." She moans and moans about her misfortune and that was pretty funny. That shit is funny because it is a dramatic turn from our preconceived notions about their roles and there is a clear boundary between Shin-chan's interaction with these teachers in the kindergarten and the outside world. Two different interactions take drastic turn from "profession" to "what the fuck is this kid doing here." Fucking A. This is why Shin-chan is so amazing and one of my greatest childhood nostalgia. Digimon and Pokemon or Transformers doesn't even come close to it.
Characters are the greatest asset of this comedy series. I've seen Shin-chan in Korea, Japan, and NA versions. I have to say that NA is geared towards adults, rather than children, because of the adult jokes whereas Korea and Japan are geared towards shounen audience. In that regard, please do check out Japanese subs. If you can't, NA is just as good, although some of the jokes are not Asian-friendly.
I honestly can't say bad things about this show because this show is like Simpsons and Family Guy. I'd hate to fucking insult Simpsons for what it is because the formula of the show is not built to create a cohesive story. The stories are episodic and are not meant to have a conclusive plot. Really though, the show isn't about concluding a story but following Shin Chan's hilarious adventures. The objective of the plot is clearly self-evident and perfect for such objective. It is ridiculous, outrageous, and epic funny like no other kid's show.

A solid 8. It will be a short review because i do not think that this anime requires much explanation. Solid 8 is based on the overall enjoyment of the series. It looks at the story, the theme, the art, the sound, the character, and the atmosphere. The scale of the story is minimized to a few locations for focus. Some of the places and events were truly memorable (Museum). It was completely effective.
As a horror and mystery series, this show certainly delivers. Short, but absolutely satisfying pacing and conclusion to the story was truly
...
fascinating in my eyes. Characters were intriguing as well but not so much. I wouldn't say that the developments were there, but that is completely irrelevant because the objective of this series is horror and discovering mystery. I do think that MC and Heroin has grown together but that's not much. Characters were believable. Finally, the tension and story progression is what makes this show so great. Every episode is another temptation for more
I usually do not watch horror anime because it is hard to believe it as a real "threat" to one's sanity, but this is one of those few horror anime that truly "spooked" me to certain degree. That is remarkable and I give the solid 8.

I can't add to what others have said but let me just briefly summarize my opinion, criticism, and praise.
= [ ( Story ) ] = ****3****
I apologize for such low rating. What started out as a promising series, SAO lets down its audience with weak plot and conflict resolutions. The periodic and time lapses between episodes cause confusion and misunderstanding. Without your ability to access primary source (LN), some of the plots are unclear, if not simply misplaced. What remains of the plot? Instead of focusing on serious aspects of the story, we are dished with series of
...
MC's love interest, which serves zero purpose to actual love interest of MC. Harem is a word that fits this situation. The excessive amount of fan service that this story vomits is unjustified and unnecessary. However, SAO delivers simple and understandable plot objectives, which a little child could understand. There is a clarity in its objective and I applaud the author of SAO for making that very clear.
= [ ( Art ) ] = +++ 6 +++
the art is very justified for this sort of anime. With harem, loli, and incest, the cutesy style of art is very fitting and well applied. At the same time however, it does draw away from the believability of the story as a serious material, which the plot, at least at the beginning, promised to be a very mature topic. It is fortunate that SAO art tries to please teenagers and casual watchers and opted out for harem/romance/damsel in distress plot devices.
= [ ( Sound ) ] = """" 8 """"
Excellent music--one of saving grace of the series. It adds excitement to otherwise boring and repetitive action scenes, which seems to overuse charging and 360 degree back and forth.
= [ ( Character ) ] = """"3""""
Character development is shallow. MC is given little time for character development. Little of what does occur uses convenient plot devices [i.e. death of a friend] to advance its objective, which is extremely cliche and unoriginal. The time given to achieve this objective was narrowed to just one episode, which devastated the impact of the development as a whole. As well, other character developments are small or absolutely zero. If there was a little development, it was completely dependent on their interaction with the MC and it is highly unclear whether character development is visible or understandable from the viewers perspective.
= [ ( Enjoyment ) ] = """""6"""""
SAO is fairly entertaining, due to its cliche plot and high production value. The forced incest drama is really the highlight of this show, so I highly recommend it.
= [ ( Overall ) ] = """"5""""
I would like to think that 5 is justifiable by my reasoning. I would've given it 7 or 8 if it weren't for the horrible pacing, weak character development, and overall hype that is given to this show. IF the show was focused instead of trying to be everything (harem, romance, incest, tragedy, drama, action, seinen, tentacle, sex), SAO could've been an awesome project.
