Maybe it's just from hollywood dragging standards down, but I'm shocked this movie understands making people forget about someone doesn't erase physical records. They even have things tied to Rukia forgotten, like Renji's bankai. It's a nice touch. The soul reapers are dumbasses though, so it's accurate to the show. It's like the soul society arc. The only one with any intelligence is Byakuya, because he unlocked his brain after the soul society arc.

The fight at the end is paced well, you can tell what's going on, as opposed to The Diamond Dust Rebellion that kind of became a mess toward the end. Overall I'd ... say Fade to Black is the best bleach movie. Also as far as certain plot holes people have mentioned, they should rewatch the ending where certain powers are explained. I'm not going to put spoilers in the review, but it's outright stated in the movie, and shown.

People argue about whether this is a parody, a deconstruction, or just bad. Here's the basic premise from the first few episodes.

A kid with a very specific delusion about being an unkillable overpowered anime character, secretly ruling the world from the shadows trains in martial arts and larps in front of people. Then he gets isekai'd when he gets hit by a truck. He gets reincarnated into a world with magic, becomes powerful, and hides it while doing things in the background just like his fantasy. He's really doing this, and the world is played straight too, meaning the people interacting with him.

The early part ... was so absurd I thought it was the isekai part, but then you go into a more generic magical world. Then he starts as a baby, but they skip pretty much everything and just tell you he's really powerful because martial arts and magic bla bla bla.

Then his shadow organization is just kind of made by someone he meets and gets to join him. They don't show the creation, you're just told it happened in the background. Even the character getting found and joining him is rushed, they don't really do much with it. It could be entertaining to see him larping his way into creating an organization and getting members, but it just kinda works itself out.

On top of that he's nearly the same age, and he has the same mentality, so he may as well have just been born here. The only thing they do with the isekai aspect is say he learned a bunch of martial arts and that they're somehow helpful with magic and swordsmanship here, it's just a half-assed excuse for why he's so powerful so early on. They skip over everything, so the premise is pointless and it just seems like a generic fantasy isekai with an overpowered protagonist.

The only twist is that the cult he made up is real, and the other members really are looking into things. He's so unaware he thinks they're just growing out of roleplay and using their investigation as an excuse to stop roleplaying with him. He's also so overpowered, and kind of stupid, that he doesn't know when he's fighting followers of the demon cult, he thinks they're just stronger bandits. The idea is there, but they don't really do much with it.

He also hides his ability, because part of his fantasy is to seem like a generic side character, but to secretly be the powerful bla bla bla. Ultimately it's the same as so many other generic isekai, and they don't really do much with it. I know I'm repeating myself, but that's pretty much everything in the show.

He just wants this specific thing because that's what he wants. He'll put up with any abuse, he'll humiliate himself, he'll sabotage his own standing and future for the sake of being like a shitty character, while he's secretly not. Which just makes him seem like he's not a character, he's just some meta idea that never really goes anywhere. Nothing clever is ever really done with it.

He's also never in danger, no matter what happens to him, just because. Nothing really matters, no characters are characters, and nothing's really entertaining.

The only things involving the isekai elements are done off screen by a character you don't really know at all. Even then the main character somehow doesn't understand that a building is a building instead of a set. He doesn't understand any of this is real despite knowing magic is real and using it. Despite seeing transformations. He somehow thinks it's still roleplay despite also knowing it's not.

The plot doesn't develop naturally, he either walks past things by chance or he's given information by the background characters in his group who do everything off screen. The characters in his group barely have any speaking lines or interaction with the main character, or even much time on screen. So there's really nothing to it. This show is like the cliff notes of an idea someone had for the draft of a light novel that never really went anywhere.

There's nothing clever about it, there's no joke, but it's also not a real show with any world or characters that matter. It's just poorly done in about every way possible. At first I was gonna make myself watch the whole thing, but after 9 episodes, and realizing how long this show was gonna be, I had to quit.

It's not so bad it made me angry, it's just nothing, it's mind-numbing. It makes me think the positive reviews are parodies.

The second season is somehow worse than the first. It's more idiotic, the characters around him, the world, everything's even more pointless than it already was. The main character is still a block of wood who can do everything, even beat up huge monsters with his bare hands. All the magic, the monsters, the archery, everything is redundant. He can literally just do whatever.

Most of the time is spent with trivial ass drippings. Researchers in the monster taming guild, even slime researchers, can't figure out basic shit about slimes, like their diet or habitat effecting evolution. They somehow never figured that out. Metal slimes tend ... to be in mines with metal, and they eat metal. Huh, guess it's just random. It's not believable that everyone else in the world is this stupid. It's one of those shows that brings down the intelligence of everyone else in the world to make the main character seem smart or special.

It was already a stretch in the first season, but the more they explain the details of this world the worse it gets. They're still dragging shit out with him being a low rank in the adventurer's guild, being surprised by how great he is despite being a low ranked adventurer and a child. Babbling on and on about how he's too good, while he just apologizes for being so great and shows them his fucking wooden block transformation jutsu.

I thought maybe the show would get better in the second season, maybe they could do something interesting with a new business or the slimes, or maybe some other monsters. They didn't. The world gets smaller and more idiotic as it goes on, and the character doesn't grow.

The dialogue is somehow more plodding and masturbatory than the first season, and it's made even worse with the repetition. They asspull even more skills and knowledge for the main character from his backstory, even when he doesn't really need it. Rather than ever having the character grow or learn anything at all, which is desperately needed for this block of wood. It's not just boring, it's mind-numbing.

The basic premise is the main character Dariel was taken in by one of the four demon generals, but now that he's gone and the general's son has taken over, Dariel's been kicked out. He doesn't have any ill will towards the demons, they took him in and he worked and lived with them. However, now that the demon general's son is in charge he's making some questionable decisions and mismanaging things. This show is more about mediation between humans and demons than fighting.

They have some gags like the love interest being afraid of fighting but being incredibly strong, to the point where she casually ... throws fallen trees around like it's nothing. She sometimes accidentally hurts the main character, but she's treated like a character because she actually feels bad about it instead of pretending it didn't happen. There's also a love interest as one of the generals, so he's sort of torn between the humans and the demons even in that regard.

Dariel isn't the strongest physically, and he can't use magic, but adventurers use aura to fight, which has four different types related to attacking and defending to enhance the use of weapons and shields. Aura is what Dariel excels at after becoming an adventurer, so he is a bit overpowered but he isn't so powerful he can do everything. The main character isn't a pushover, he actually has a spine, he'll stick up for himself, but he also isn't a psychopath. It's refreshing to see someone act like a normal human being.

It's a relaxed mostly average fantasy show, some of the humor may not be what you're into but it's not painful. The main character actually acts like a character and his backstory matters, which is rare for this sort of show. If you just want a decent fantasy show give this a try. Go into this expecting more of a slice of life than any kind of action.

It's one of the generic magic school shows, I feel like I've seen it a million times and it's not done well here. The main character is a block of wood, despite his half assed backstory. He goes around complimenting and being complimented by a bunch of women, who are also blocks of wood, other than constantly blushing every time he speaks to them.

He's overpowered, he has to hide his identity, all the other students are noblemen, they look down on him, bla bla bla, the same shit. They keep getting impressed by how powerful he is while considering him the under dog. This feels ... like another isekai but it's not, it's just shit.

Just to be clear, from the first few episodes we're told he's not just powerful, he's one the the seven legendary wizards, and also he's the most powerful of the seven legendary wizards. And also he's great with a sword. He's already the most powerful person in the world really, despite the title implying otherwise.

There's some half assed world building and some shit about how the magic works, not that it matters, otherwise it's pretty much this guy talking to the harem, and the harem telling him how good he is at speaking. It also has this annoying shit where everyone says ordinary in english to refer to anyone who isn't noble. Not peasant, or lowborn, anything else, ordinary. It really feels stupid.

Even what I would consider a subpar self insert fantasy like Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko did something interesting with the slimes and the magic, which kept me from giving it a lower score. This show has no real redeeming qualities, not even the art or the animation.

This is the usual isekai where he has all the powers, literally all the magic, and he figures things out that no one else in the world managed to despite only having been there for three years. Everyone is always impressed by him, by everything he does. He's shy and always embarrassed about being praised, which is constantly.

The praise goes further because he's a child, even though he's a forty year old japanese business man. The usual thing. Although it's extra weird because they seem to be pushing some romance with an actual child and, again, he's a forty year old japanese business man. Although ... the guy isn't some pervert and there's nothing sexual about it, so your choice on how weird you find it.

He also starts out with super strength despite being in the body of a small child, to the point where he can kick through a big tree right when he gets there. We also discover that he's not just figuring things out, he created two new species without even knowing it. This is explained by the literal god who created them, who is surprised by what he did.

He's immediately praised by noblemen and gods. He starts out with three gods, then by episode three we're told even more gods are taking interest in him. Despite these gods generally not being interested in isekai protagonists, he's just that good, even better than the other isekai protagonists. He receives more blessings from more gods.

Also after hunting for three years he's a master archer and is basically legolas. He can just do everything pretty much from the start, and there's always people watching him and praising him for it. Despite being given this power, and despite not even knowing what he's doing when he does things like create new species. It's that kind of show.

It would've been more interesting if he was at least just given the ability to use every kind of magic, with a a focus on taming magic, he'd still be overpowered but it wouldn't be so boring. There was really no reason for him to be so physically strong, or to be an expert archer, he doesn't even need it. Everything's just kind of thrown on there despite the redundancy, seemingly just for the sake of making the self insert character stronger.

The protagonist is also boring, he's just a generic polite guy. That's it. They give him some kind of sad backstory about being abused as a child and working for a black company as an adult, but none of it really matters. Once he's a child he's basically just a blank slate. There's almost no reason to even make him an isekai protagonist, other than an explanation for why he's so overpowered.

Although there is at least an interesting use of slimes, depending on your definition. You see, in episode one, we're introduced to his slimes. One of the species he made is shit slimes, which eat shit. In episode four he gets a quest to clean communal bathrooms that are full of shit, so he has his shit slimes eat the shit. This is an important mission that only he can do, because the shit has created a miasma that only he and his slimes can deal with. I'm not joking, this is a whole episode.

He has to go in to spray shit off the ceiling and the walls with water magic so his slimes can consume it. While he's doing this there is a regiment of adventurers outside guarding the toilets, making sure no one goes into the dangerous communal bathroom. They're out there praising his work ethic and bravery.

The shit slimes multiply because they've been eating so much shit, and one thousand of them combine to form a king shit slime. The king shit slime has a gluttony skill that lets it eat more shit. He has over three thousand shit slimes, so he has three king shit slimes going around eating shit while he sprays the walls and ceilings. This is a real episode.

If you wanna see an overpowered block of wood get praised constantly, then get embarrassed over being praised, then watch this show. This is validation the anime, except the validation is for external factors that had nothing to do with you really, so even as some self insert fantasy about being praised all the time it fails. Unless you think everything you're handed is something you deserve because you're such a nice guy.

I'm not sure why they even made it an isekai, the story he makes up to tell the nobles would work fine for the actual story. It'd also make the character more interesting and make the romance thing less weird. He could just be an overpowered kid, he could even still talk to the gods since he was praying in the cave for years, he could still have blessings, I don't see why they made this an isekai. He pretty much acts the same as the other kid, and he doesn't have much of a personality, so the isekai aspect seems pointless.

They get creative with the slimes though, it's interesting enough to hold your attention, but everything else drags it down. At some point they even make a business around the slimes, which I won't spoil, but they go more in depth with the way it works and setting up the business than certain shows like meikyuu black company which are supposedly centered on business.

I'd like it if they went even further on these things and had less of the isekai circle jerk shit, but it's still the strength of the show. Although he did basically get a golden spoon shoved into his mouth when he met the nobles, basically becoming part of their family, but it's still okay. Just another aspect that would be improved if he had to struggle a bit more, even with his crazy magic powers.

The art's fine. the overall idea is fine, but that's it. The manga's too short to do anything interesting with the concept stretched over such a long timeline. It doesn't really explore the training or the possible changes to the world or the timeline his presence and alterations would have. This is like the rough draft of where you could go with an isekai in dragon ball. While there is a general story and idea, it's still not very interesting.

If you're a big fan of Dragon Ball, you could still give this a try. It's not terrible, it's just very forgettable. Though I would say ... it's below average for how bare bones it is even compared to most isekai.

The special episode starts with a recap, it ends at 25 minutes in. Some people say you shouldn't watch it, but if you want to know what happens with their friends, you really do have to watch it. They also don't cop out with the reason they were going to the other world, and the way it works makes sense, it's how I expected it to be anyway. The Jimmy Neutron shit makes more sense too, and goes along with what happened earlier in the show.

It does end on a cliffhanger, but with everything revealed and a clear idea of what's gonna happen next. It ... might get another season, if it did I'd watch it. People say the special is depressing and you shouldn't watch it, I think it ends on a hopeful note, though it does kind of breeze past some things.

This show deals with issues teenagers, specifically teenage girls go through, and tries to mix that into the other world when they're fighting monsters. The monsters are linked to trauma, or rather an abuser, a bit similar to how the early silent hill games did it. Except it's not the trauma of the protagonist.

The show is centered around suicide. Each of the girls chosen to be edgy sailor moon type girls were close to another teenage girl who killed themselves. They're brought to another world and see a statue of the girl, whom I guess is in a sort of purgatory or hell.

They get wonder ... eggs from a gacha machine in a garden beneath an amusement park with two weird puppet guys who kind of vaguely guide them. They don't seem malicious, but they don't really seem to care.

When the girls crack open a wonder egg, they're taken to an alternate reality, or some other plane of existence, and a girl who committed suicide comes out of the egg. The characters have to protect them from smaller monsters, or demons really, and the main monster being their trauma.

If they successfully defend these girls and defeat the trauma or monster, then the statue of the girl they're trying to bring back gets a bit warmer, it becomes a bit more human.

The way the magical weapons work is also tied to this. They can use items of their own they have some connection to, and each girl they're trying to save has an item of their own which can be given to the magic girl to transform it into a weapon. There are no transformations though, they just wear whatever they were wearing.

Whatever damage they take in this world also applies to them in the real world. Even though really some of the hits should just kill them, I guess they're more durable or something. At least there are stakes, and they are risking their own life to help these girls and get what they want.

The execution of the show may not be perfect, but the ideas are pretty good.


One problem with the writing is the characters don't seem to interested in how this works, or what the puppet guys are, what they want, anything. They don't even ask, no one seems interested, they just go along with it. It'd be fine if they said they couldn't answer or something, it just seems like someone would at least ask.

They also don't mention how the items used to fight back work, the main character just randomly has to figure it out. She just has to assume she can attack with a pen, she even has to have most things explained to her by the girl she's trying to save.

This might make sense if they wanted the girls to fail, but they don't seem to want that either, they even warn them not to fight more than one monster at once, not to fight back to back, as if they don't want them to fail.

You could say they mostly don't care, it just seems like it's more to have suspense early on rather than because it makes sense. Same way the girls not asking about them seems to be more to keep it a mystery than because they wouldn't care.

This show seems like it's targeted at younger people, but at the same time it's not. I don't just mean because it's a bit more violent, or mentions things like suicide, I mean at some point early on there's a big titty monster. There's a big woman with 4 painted tits, and they should goo or paint. I don't know who it's for.

Don't watch episode 8, it's a recap episode and there's nothing new in it. I don't see why it'd be needed in a show with just 12 episodes, and a special episode. The special episode starts with a recap that ends at 25 minutes.

The show's okay, so if it sounds interesting you could give it a try. The jimmy neutron shit gets kinda stupid later on, and certain plot points go forward because people happened to be around to see and hear something rather than through any effort. Then they continue not asking any questions and even leave when they're be told. It doesn't seem natural, it just seems like it's happening to advance the plot and then keep people interested and drag it out.

They also seem to go on about gender a bit too much but don't really go anywhere with it. Not in a misandrist kind of way, just appearance.

Ultimately the show does something different toward the end, compared to other shows like this, and there's no cop out. At least the jimmy neutron shit goes somewhere. I would recommend the special episode when you're done with the main show.

Overall the show was okay, but even with how heavy some of the subject matter was, I didn't feel emotional. I think it would've been a bit better if they focused more on the outlandish esoteric side of things than trying to be more grounded. Especially the thing with crossdressing going on and on, it wasn't that interesting, a bit more time spent on something else would've been better.

The opening is brief and enjoyable enough. The concept of how the villain comes about is interesting, but ultimately it's not a very interesting character outside of the design. The best part of the movie is the environment the character creates, and the weird otherworldly powers. The fighting is okay, and it's good to see SS3 actually be used for a while.

There's not much to the villain as a character, and at some point toward the end some of the comedy felt forced and went on too long, it would've been better without it. I also think the bit with hitler went on too long ... and wasn't very interesting to begin with. If they needed filler fights on the side, there were much more interesting things they could've done that would've made more sense than infinite tanks. The end of the fight is anticlimactic, but the end of the movie is good. Overall I'd say it's okay, with some high points. It's worth giving a try.
