One of the worst anime I've ever watched.
This show is what happen when you take a dare I say interesting premise and then ruin it with terrible story progression, borderline unnecessary characters, and I can't believe I'm saying this but too much comic relief if that even is a sentence.
The plot boils down to a girl named Charlotte who is apparently framed for no good reason by her adoptive family after years living like a servant in the household, she ran away and our male protagonist, Allen found her unconscious in the forest, with the heart of a benefactor, he decided to take her in.
...
Sounds familiar? Sounds cliche? Yes because that's all you will find in this show, cliche up, down, left, and right.
There is absolutely no story progression other than the show adding more and more insufferable, one dimensional, unnecessary characters that just muddied the already horrible pacing that the show has. Every single side character is so infatuated for absolutely no logical reason with the heroine who mind you has literally nothing going for her other than a sob story (very original!), when she is as flat as the rest of the cast. Dialogues are terrible, they are beyond cheesy it makes me want to rip my hair out of my head just listening to the characters talk to each other.
Another thing is when the show would introduce a seemingly story turning plot device to the audience, only for them to reveal it's just another comic relief and nothing serious at all. I won't mind if they did this once, but no, they did it every single time to the point that you won't be able to take anything that happens in the story seriously anymore. I wouldn't even be surprised if they revealed that Charlotte's family framed her just for gags.
For the love of all good things stay far away from this anime. This is supposed to be a comedy (and I'm really stretching the definition of comedy here) but instead I feel like I'm about to have a cardiac arrest for every painful seconds that passed watching this anime. What a disaster, 3/10 is a very generous rating.

Decent premise ruined by stupid plot device. Now I know that the "Cinderella" trope has been used countless times, but damned I'll be lying if it's not a good base for a story. My Happy Marriage should have been a decent one if not for stupid and unnecessary 'supernatural' part of it.
I'm genuinely asking myself as I watch more episodes of this anime, what the hell am I watching? Cause I sure don't expect no damn super power action in a supposed shoujo romance anime. Is this supposed to be romance? A character study? Action? Super power? The show tried to check too many boxes
...
and what turned out is a half-baked anime, it is clearly confused, and more importantly so are we! The supernatural part seems forced as hell, the anime wants us to think that these 'spirits' are supposed to be dangerous for the well being of the characters, but they don't even bother explaining anything about it. They threw some light exposition and then calling it a day, basically shoving it straight up our ass and force us to accept it, it just felt incredibly out of place.
Lets talk about characters. Most of the characters just felt one dimensional and incredibly shallow. Some characters are just evil for the sake of being evil and everyone and their grandmother are after Miyo's ass, their motive as to why is as I've said earlier because of the not-explored enough supernatural power which she has. Even then the method in which they use to get to her is either roundabout, unnecessary, or just plain stupid. Again all of this could have been avoided if the director isn't confused on what the show is going to be. Miyo's progression as a character is hindered by this completely unnecessary plot device multiple times, and ultimately Kiyoka's relationship with her feels like it came out of pity and not her as a character.
In a nutshell My Happy Marriage is way better off just as a pure slice of life, the supernatural aspect just makes the anime felt unclear on where the direction it's going to take. I'll still place my hope on Season 2 nonetheless. For now I'll give it a 5/10.

Flawed, but still really decent adaptation.
Before saying anything I want to mention that I will be comparing this to the novel a lot, so with that in mind lets get on this. Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi tells a story of Kaoru Tono, a highschool boy with a dysfunctional family caused by the death of his sister. By accident, he stumbled upon a tunnel during one of his walks that seemingly is able to grant any wish for those who ventured within it.
As you may have guessed, the story revolves around the heavy theme of grief and self doubt. I think the
...
movie does portray the theme quite well with its two protagonists Kaoru and Anzu. They're similar in a way that they have one strong wish, so strong that they're willing to risk and throw away the things and time that they have now in order to attain it, and it's definitely fascinating watching how the two affect each other and how they get over the underlying wish that they have. And in this sense I think the movie manages to do the novel justice.
This anime has really good visuals and animation. Coupled with decent play in music and performance by the voice actors, and refreshing character design makes the movie quite a feast in the eye to look at.
With that said, there's a major issue in the anime. That is the pacing. Although I liked how they handled Anzu and Kaoru's story progression, there's one character they forgot about. Yes, that character is Koharu. The anime basically cuts everything related to Koharu and her scene in the anime, which is unfortunate because her character plays an important part with adding even more depth to Anzu's overall character. And as a result some scenes may feel rushed.
To summarize, the anime is a flawed yet still enjoyable adaptation of a novel of the same title. If you have the time, definitely pick up the novel. But otherwise, Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi gets a 8/10 from me.

One of the dumbest anime ever made.
"God is horny as f***, so he decided to kidnap a teenage girl. When he can't, his pathetic ass decides to plunge the world into literal apocalypse." There I pretty much summarized this whole anime into two sentences.
Most anime suffer from "too much exposition" but this is a very rare case of an anime suffering from "too little exposition". What do I mean by that? Well if you majored in science, actually scratch that even if you remembered basic laws of physics you most probably will have a stroke watching this anime, because it just screamed "f*** you"
...
to even the basic laws of physics. And none of the characters even thought or mention about it, there are a lot of things happening in the show that they decided to leave in the shadow, and I do not mean that in a good way. They just shove it up your ass and expect you to just accept it.
As I mentioned above, "God" is horny. I'm not even exaggerating, the whole premise of the anime is how pissed off "God" is, he is so pathetic that when he had no pu**y to bang he decided to just end the world altogether.
Oh speaking about pathetic. Nagi no Asukara has the most frustrating, pathetic, and indecisive characters I've seen. Every time they hear or see something they even remotely dislike, they would just runs off with no destination in mind. Actually let's do a challenge, take a shot every time you see Manaka runs off somewhere like a little b*** because she so much as hear Hikari make a joke about how short she is. Do that and you'll need a set of new Liver and Kidney by the time you're done with this anime.
Probably one of the dumbest and most frustrating anime I've seen. God I was so relieved when I finally finished watching this sack of sh**. 3/10

Criminally underrated! I guess most anime fans nowadays like to watch shows with bimbos and stupid unrealistic over romanticized moments. Therefore actual good anime like these get drastically overlooked.
First thing that I want to mention is please, you NEED to watch both movies. You can pick whichever you want to watch first but again please watch the other before you rage on about how it doesn't make sense. Personally I watch "To Every You That I Loved" first, but I will treat both movies as one and I'd say it doesn't really matter which order you decide to go. That said with how the anime
...
is constructed it's really hard to keep this review spoiler free but I'll try my best not to go too deep into important plot points.
These movies do require some thinking on your part to understand, as with most shows involving sci-fi. But a lot of it comes from both of them intertwining their stories with each other, a brief moment from one movie is explored in the other, and vice versa. The anime are 2 "what-if" scenarios involving parallel world and some time travel if you haven't guessed. I loved how the anime is complex yet simple at the same time. It's complex in your first movie but as you go into your second there's some "aha!" moments and you realize that the story is actually pretty simple and straightforward. There are still some vague but completely understandable points and I guess they decided to let it up to the viewer's interpretation.
For the actual story there's really not much to say especially romance wise, it almost felt generic to be perfectly frank. So if you're looking for purely romance, you'd bound to be rather underwhelmed. The anime does well in how it incorporates both storylines in one another, like I said both have moments that might not make sense at first but will be as you continue watching. It's just so unique and it worked that I'm willing to overlook most of the romance. That said, this anime is still better in that aspect than the majority that focused solely on romance, so you can still enjoy it regardless.
Overall what a unique and fun anime. This is 2 different story with different ending, yet it intertwine and affect how you see each other, bittersweet and poignant. It's one of the most impactful anime I've seen in a while. It definitely had its flaws but I enjoyed it immensely. 9/10

THIS IS QUENTIN TARANTINO'S LEVEL OF DIALOGUE
God damn this anime sucked, I'm not even going to sugarcoat anything. This repulsive show's entire content revolved around dumb, somehow beyond generic, lazily written story, with also extremely lazily written characters, and countless of borderline unbelievable "romantic" moments. This is basically someone's sad, failed attempt at making a romance show.
The premise is simple enough. A dude found a girl sitting in the rain and offered her an umbrella, who is actually his next door neighbor that he never talked to, the two then began to form a relationship from then. Simple enough right? Yeah, except she felt that
...
offering an umbrella is equal of a favor as saving her from a f**king decapitation. The show then proceed to make a sad attempt at over romanticizing literally everything these two equally sad characters to the point of it being utterly unbelievable. We the audience are forced to watch utterly torturous moments with dialogues that are written by a 14 year old girl with chuunibyou. All of this makes the anime lacks actual character, with little to no story progression.
Characters are just as atrocious. All of them felt incredibly shallow and lazily written. They're so lazy that you wouldn't even remember any characters beside the main cast, which you do only because they take 99% of the runtime. They tried to pull the "tormented princess in a cage" for Shiina and make her as likeable as possible but that just makes her character utterly unrealistic.
This anime felt so superficial and holysh** it is overrated as f***. If you liked boring, slow as f***, dull, unbelievable moments then this anime is for you, otherwise stay far away.

Shinkai's overdone himself again! I'll try to be as spoiler free as I can with this review. Suzume tells a story about a young high school girl who inadvertently released an ancient being that is sealed by a "door".
To be frank the premise didn't really interest me and I only watched it because of Shinkai's name. But after the masterpiece that is Your Name, Weathering with You was rather underwhelming for me, so I didn't really put much expectation into this one. Well I'm glad that I didn't because this movie managed to absolutely blow me away, I was mesmerized.
Shinkai always fascinated me by
...
his unorthodox fantasy, as seen in Your Name and Weathering with You (and to some degree, Voices of a Distant Star). Now as I said I was rather disappointed by Weathering with You and thought that Shinkai has passed his peak with Your Name. Suzume no Tojimari proved me dead wrong.
This movie offered an immensely captivating story. Couple that with outstanding performance from the voice actors that mind you, and please correct me if I'm wrong had their debut in this very movie. Let's not forget to mention the animation itself, because holysh** Suzume has one of the most incredible and breathtaking visual I have ever seen in an anime. Character writing is also top notch, they felt well fleshed out and naturally able to pull the audience as we learn more about our heroine as the movie progress.
All of that said above made Suzume no Tojimari a fantastic and mesmerizing movie. One that will put you at your edge of the seat, one that will tug on your heartstring by its immensely captivating story of self discovery, one that will sent numerous chills down your spine by it's amazing cinematography, visual, and music play. Shinkai has once again outdone himself! Suzume no Tojimari is another modern masterpiece, 10/10

Renai Flops... The anime that could've been decent, this review does contain some minor to moderate spoiler so there's your warning, I'll still try my best to not spoil the show by revealing major plot point. To begin, plot development. Because holysh** you have to go through so much pain to go through the first half of the show, it's horrendous beyond words. It's stupid, unbelievable, and downright just defies all logic that I dropped the anime at one point in episode 4. But once I heard that there's a major twist to the plot in the second half I decided to persevere.
That brought me
...
to this point, is it worth the 6 episodes or-so pain filled watchtime? Lets discuss, from this point onwards I will mostly talk about the second half of the show. First of all, the anime does drastically improve its quality in almost all aspect. Character design is nothing I've never seen before so lets scratch that off our list. The story and theme of the anime changes almost 180° in the second half, and it was executed rather smoothly. The anime does a great job in transitioning from lighthearted and stupid to a more serious tones.
Second, how well does the anime portray its main theme which is romance sci-fi? For the latter I can say that I've seen much worse. The anime does the bare minimum at explaining the overall theme without leaving the audience confused. For the former, don't have much to say other than I was satisfied, the romance felt natural all things considered.
Back to the elephant in the room, is it worth the horrendous 2 hour+ watchtime? I think that as sh**ty the first half was, it was somewhat necessary to set the tone for the rest of the anime, they still handle it so poorly in my opinion that if you felt like dropping it you don't need to hesitate. And despite what I said about the second half above, the story is still your run of the mill generic tragedy romance. And the ending of the show negates most of its impact anyway. But if you can stomach it, this anime is a decent watch. So there I answered your question without answering your question, Renai Flops gets a 6/10 from me.

Fruits Basket, the anime that blew all of my expectation out of the window. This review is for all 3 seasons of the Fruits Basket remake. Now if you came into this anime looking for lovey dovey romance revolving around the heroine, stay the f**k away from this anime! Now on to my review. Coming into this anime I actually had a rather high expectation, yet this anime still manages to exceeds it in every way. Fruits Basket is my first and probably best shoujo anime that I watched or will ever watch. This anime is beautiful, it's a heavily character focused anime making it
...
a somewhat slow pacing one but never in a way that it is boring. It tells a poignant story about acceptance, living with your mistakes and flaws, and freedom, freedom from isolation, freedom from rule.
Those are the recurring theme in this anime. And holycrap did the anime do a terrific job at portraying it. Fruits Basket has a so so visual at best but it makes up for in well crafted music play and brilliant use of character's emotion. As a result, the anime was able to convey the feelings very well.
If I have to say one thing Fruits Basket did the best at is it's characters. Kyo and Yuki are probably 2 of the best best written anime character that I've seen (up there with Code Geass's Lelouch and Monster's Johan Liebert). Their character arc are some of the best that I've seen in both old and modern anime, both of them complement each other perfectly in both advancing the story and their development. As for Tohru, I have some minor complaint. Tohru might come across as slow, gullible, and dumb in more than one occasion, and I guess that's fine as part of her character. However her other trait even considering her backstory is that she is kind, very kind, too kind almost to the point of being unbelievable, she is a person that would witness a murder then apologize to the culprit. But other than that, Tohru is an excellent representation on how huge of an impact the right person is able to do to your life, and what it takes to accept someone no matter how flawed they may be.
Speaking about the right person, the same can also be said vice versa. Akito is also a terrific antagonist. If I had to compare him, he has the manipulative trait of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest's Nurse Ratchet and the charisma and intimidation of Inglorious Basterds' Hans Landa, sorry for the non anime comparison but I can't think of a better one. As vile and twisted as he is, sometimes you can't help but sympathize with him. Akito is definitely one of the best antagonist in anime just as Kyo and Yuuki one of the best protagonist.
I can also say the same thing with almost all of the side characters. As minor as they are the anime still manages to make them memorable for the viewer. The anime does spend some of its runtime to focus on them, while some people might find it unnecessary, I find it does impact the overall feel of the story. I also find it fascinating how the anime is able to establish an extensive backstory and unique personality for every one of its side characters. Nevertheless, almost every characters impacted the story and each other in one way or another. Fruits Basket is simply brilliant in terms of character writing.
With all of that said. I immensely enjoyed Fruits Basket. It has a slow pacing yet never in a way that it's boring. It doesn't have fabulous visual like most of other anime's selling point, instead it makes up for in masterfully crafted story and character portrayal. I never watched the original, but if it's a remake, then it's a remake done right. I never read the manga, but if it's an adaptation, it's an adaptation done right. It showed how you should hold on to a hope no matter how dim or small it may be. It showed how much power the right person can hold in your life. As the famous tagline of one of the best movie of all time that said "fear can set you prisoner, hope can set you free". Never thought I would find 2 masterpieces back to back, but I did. Words cannot describe how beautiful Fruits Basket is, truly one of a kind. Fruits Basket is probably the second anime that has shook me to my very core. I'm glad I came across this gem of an anime. 10/10

Before anything else, I actually wanted to watch this after it finished airing and I forgot about it, then I randomly remember it few das ago and thanks to that cause WOW this anime is AMAZING! It far surpassed my every expectation. It's been quite a while since I'm this impressed by an anime and definitely quite a while since I felt extreme chill down my entire body during a show's climax. Getting into it Vivy gave off extreme Violet Evergarden vibe, and I instantly know I'm gonna enjoy this anime. Now after finishing it, I'm not only enjoying the anime, I absolutely LOVED every
...
second of it. From the gripping and unique story, greatly written character, gorgeous visual and animation, beautiful and I do mean BEAUTIFUL soundtrack, and most importantly, a clear beginning, mid, and end. Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song is everything that Plastic Memories failed to do, and it maybe singlehandedly sparked back my interest in anime. Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song is what you would call a modern masterpiece. What an anime!
